Created by Tim Haft in 2009, Beastanetics is a fun, high-intensity, interval-training program appropriate for people of most fitness levels. The program utilizes a wide range of body weight drills to improve cardiovascular conditioning, strength, power, speed, mobility, agility, and metabolic fitness.
After just one 8-week session (16 classes) of Beastanetcs, most students demonstrate a significant improvement in their 400 meter run and skip times, plank holds, and push-ups.
Class size is limited to ensure all students receive plenty of individual attention. Movements can be modified to suit the needs of each participant. The atmosphere at Beastanetics is warm, welcoming, and supportive.
From April through November classes are offered at the artificial turf field at McCarren Park in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on Monday through Thursday mornings. From December through March classes take place indoors at the Park Church Co-op at 129 Russell Street between Nassau and Driggs Avenues. The space at the church is roughly 2500 square feet.
New students are welcome to a one-time free trial. Thereafter, the drop-in fee is $ 15 for outdoor classes and $ 17 for indoor classes.
The 8-week/16-class outdoor session costs $ 160 ($ 10/class) and the 8-week/16-class indoor session costs $ 192 ($ 12/class).
History
Established in 2010.
In September 2009, I met Rick Stock, a personal trainer employed by the US Army. Rick introduced me to Tabata, an aggressive style of interval training developed in Japan, which features eight, 20-second work sets, each followed by 10 seconds of recovery. I began to research Tabata and was sufficiently impressed by the studies I found that I decided to experiment with the concept, eventually conducting extensive tests on a wide range of high-intensity, body-weight exercises. In the spring of 2010 Beastanetics was born and shortly thereafter I taught the first Beastanetics class at Google in New York City. Since then Beastanetics classes have been held at Etsy, St. Joseph’s College, the 14th Street Y, Matrix, McCarren Park, Bushwick Inlet Park, and Astoria Park.

Business Owner
Since 1998 I’ve offered personal training and fitness coaching to thousands of exercisers of all ages and ability levels.
I’m certified as a personal trainer by the American Council on Exercise and as a track coach by USA Track & Field.
I became a vegetarian in 1983 and vegan in 2012. At age 54 I may well be in the best shape of my life.
In fall 2004 I created Punk Rope, which is now the most popular rope-jumping based fitness class in the world. I’m also the creator of Beastanetics, a high intensity interval training program; MoshFit, a rock and roll-fueled workout; and Doubles or Nothing, a rope jumping seminar for CrossFitters.
My approach to fitness is simple. Find an activity you enjoy and one or more partners to share it with. Don’t take yourself too seriously. Take care of your body as you probably only get one in this lifetime. Remember that age is only a number, not an excuse. And no matter what, never ever give up!
