Beacon Moving and Storage

Don’t trust this company. They keep contacting my parents about moving services asking for me saying I contacted them. I never even heard of them nor have I ever contacted anyone about moving. Be careful

DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY. I wish I had read the reviews.

They told me to give them 1 week notice to deliver my belongings so I gave them 2 weeks and followed daily asking for an update. They kept saying the «driver would let me know closer to requested delivery date.» Well the requested delivery date is two days from now and after speaking with dispatch they said the driver will be here next week. Beautiful.
So now I am working on their timeline, which is still not definite and will have to take a day off of work to be there to move. I spoke with dispatcher named Luce French and was hoping she could provide some sort of customer service to assuage my feelings. I said I did not want to pay for such bad service to which she responded, «I guess you just won’t get your stuff then.» These are the types of individuals they employ at Beacon.
She then informed me that I needed to have cash or a postal order when the driver comes or else they would hold my belongings ransom (and I’ve read similar notes in other posts). Here’s to hoping all of my belongings arrive on-​time and in one piece. Will update this once the driver is «closer.»
Update — leading up to the day of the delivery I called dispatch every day to get an update. They gave me the driver’s phone number and told me to communicate with him directly. At this point that was fine with me since ‘dispatch’ is clearly not capable of handling expectations. After speaking to the driver he let me know that he would probably need to rent a smaller truck to maneuver around San Francisco. After a bunch of miscommunication of whose responsibility it was to organize this whole debacle I told him to just rent it. Luckily the cost of the move isn’t falling on my shoulders but the charges are still frustrating as hell. The whole transaction was really shady, at first the driver told me $ 250 dollars then changed his mind to $ 350. I made sure to write the total in pen on the receipt so he wouldn’t be able to hide the cost anywhere. (Also, what one-​day rental cost $ 350?)
Unfortunately all of these extra charges are hidden in a binding email receipt they send you at the beginning. I didn’t receive a copy of the terms I signed on pick-​up until I requested it. Also, technically, my delivery date was 11÷1÷15 and they didn’t deliver until 11÷28÷15 so they did not abide by their 21 day delivery window they claim to work with. I received my stuff and some of the furniture was scratched and a few screws were missing. Honestly after bearing through the whole ordeal I was just glad to be rid of Beacon moving company. Just the worst.

BEWARE! I should have done my research before I used Beacon movers. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
We were quoted one price (by Tatiana and Joe), and then on moving day were told we needed to pay an additional $ 1500. We said no, we would pay the agreed upon and guaranteed price and take up he issue with management. We gave them exact measurements of every item we were moving and on moving day they said our stuff took up more space than expected and that was what the charge was for even through our price was guaranteed.
4 weeks later our stuff arrived at our new place (almost across the country)… spent those 4 weeks before the movers showed up calling and emailing beacon movers trying to sort out the price discrepancy but they always said they would get back to me and then stopped picking up.
When they arrived with our stuff at 8pm on a Sunday (surprise! They called us 30 min away and said they were coming). They held our items ransom until we could provide them with a money order for the extra money, so we were forced to pay. They then took 6 hours! To move 1 apartment’s worth of stuff. There were only two little guys who were nice but not professional movers. My boyfriend and I had to move along with them in order to be done before 2 am.
We have filed a complaint with the better business bureau and are looking for a partial refund for $ 1500 in extra charges they surprised us with. They are still giving us and the BBB the run around (since mid July). They keep saying someone will review and get back to us, or that we need to just call «so and so» but it goes right to voicemail.
They also did a good amount of damage to our apartment as well as our items along with losing a few things too.
Oh and the head guy (Levani) told me to «go F&$@ myself» when I emailed and politely asked that we discuss a partial refund. So that was nice.
This is one of those times you should believe the reviews and run away from these people!!!

As everyone else has said, this company is horrible. Joe (if that’s even a real name) their account manager is a complete liar, don’t believe anything that he says”. If you do decide to use this company some advice:
— Expect to pay ~$ 500 in made up extra fees
— Expect to have furniture /​boxes damaged without recourse
— Expect your original contract to somehow be voided
— Don’t be surprised when another company altogether comes to pick up your stuff
— If you don’t go along with anything, they’ll threaten to take your belongings (literally what was said when I wouldn’t sign a form and when I wouldn’t pay a fee)
— I would literally record any phone conversations, photograph everything, and even video tape the movers.

Extremely difficult to work with. They are all over you before you commit to move and once you pay for the move they are very difficult to reach out to. They picked up my furniture several hours late and now I dont even know when they will deliver. Every time I call them to inquire about my delivery they give me a different delivery date. Not even sure if my stuff will ever be delivered.

My Fiancé’ and I are planning a move to Georgia, among many of the calls and estimates we received we went with Becaon b/​c their estimate for what we had seemed reasonable. We spoke to Chenee who seemed nice enough when they were trying to get our card info, after giving them our card info to hold and not charge (until we called back with an exact amount of things we’d be taking) we noticed that they had already charged us! And after thinking it over, my fiancé and I decided that we didn’t even need a moving company b/​c all we had we could fit in our car. We called them back and spoke to Chenee who gave us a major attitude then cold transfered us to Joe who refused to refund our $ 270.00! Despite the fact that we weren’t even going to be using them. He then spit at us that they cannot contractually refund our money BUT WE NEVER SIGNED ANYTHING!!! We asked for his managers name who he stated was named Bill, anyway we’re not letting this go we WILL GET OUR MONEY BACK! But word from the wise DO NOT USE BEACOM MOVING AND STORAGE for your next move find someone else anyone else these people are only trying to get your money and once they have it they will treat you like garbage.
P.S these people dont even have their own trucks they are a Broker.

Never use this company! They have had my personal belongings for almost a month now. They lied about the guarantee dates and its legal limit is only 20 days. They only take cash or money order but don’t tell you that. They keep changing their tune as far as legal days of having your stuff. BTW its 20 days from pick up NOT scheduled delivery. They gave me the run around and would not tell me where the truck was. It broke down in alabama. Which if they would have been honest and not treated me like an annoyance instead of a customer who paid good money for me to TRUST them with my personal and important belongings I wouldn’t have cared so much. Yet, the employees gave me the run around, were absolutely condesending and out right lied to me and told me their is no such guaranteed delivery date (as I am looking at it on my written contract). «That there is nothing to be done and that, its just the way it is» as they proceed to just continually talk over me and not let me say a word. The rudest and most unprofessional customer service I have ever experienced in my life. And I am a business owner. The supervisor FINALLY got in touch to tell me that his employees should have told us and that $ 100 off is the only compensation (after they spoke to a man on the phone). After my husband called the guy Joe told my husband that I was irate and irrational. Maybe because if my husband heard the way he spoke to me it would have been a through down match. So I am still waiting for my things and they said the truck finally left alabama (I am in California) and «SHOULD» be here in 5 – 6 days. 10 days over legal limit and guarantee delivery on a contractual agreement. Yes, a binding legal contract. All they want to give me for this massive inconvenience is $ 100 discount. This company is so shady!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

Do not use Beacon. They told me I could move my stuff for 65 cents a pound and then refused to honor my binding agreement for this and instead charged me over 1200 more than my binding contract. They were unresponsive to my phone calls and emails, and delivered my goods late.

A TOTAL NIGHTMARE!!! I had the exact same terrible experience as the other ppl who wrote reviews did! Not only was I quoted a much lower price than it actually was by Joe, but they lost some of my furniture along the way. My furniture also arrived much later than I was told. TheY worked with Unique Van lines. I hate both these companies. It was the worst experience of my life! I hope there is some sort of class action lawsuit and I hope their business goes bankrupt and shuts down! Run away from them!!!

LIARS, LIARS, LIARS!!! My husband and I needed a moving company quickly to go from Alexandria, VA to Belmont, CA (Basically Washington D.C. to San Francisco) for a new job. The salesman I talked to, Joe, was a smooth talker from the start and promised that our things would arrive on July 6^th. The moving company was actually Amiran Van Lines and they were hours late in picking our things up on June 27^th. They have been lying to us all along the way about when our delivery date will be and it has been 26 days today since they picked up our things. The driver is still driving from Indiana to Missouri currently and «hopes to be in California by the end of the week» which is highly unlikely since they have also given him more jobs to do and he isnt even halfway across the U.S. They consolidate your furniture with other peoples’ furniture and drop their things off along the way so you have to wait longer if you are farther out. We were told that for the first two weeks our things were sitting in storage in Virginia because «a truck had broken down» and it would take longer now to receive our things. From numerous other reviews I see that they say that to everyone. We have been paying for an apartment as well as hotel stays for more than two weeks just waiting for our things to arrive. It looks like they may be able to arrive next week sometime after August 1^st. Instead of the 10 days they promised they could be an additional 25 or more days late.
So we still do NOT have our things. We have tried talking to the owner, George, and he is extremely rude and does not care. I talked to Mike, a supervisor, and he just gives the line that the truck was broken down for the first two weeks. The other girls you get on the phone are polite, but never know what’s going on; they just put you on hold until they reach a supervisor.
This has been the WORST company we have EVER dealt with. Please beware and do not use them! They may be cheap, but you will pay for it later with hotel stays, eating out and emotional distress!

This moving company is terrible. I recently moved from Virginia to Chicago and thought I did a decent job of researching moving companies! This company was a nightmare from the beginning, but I had already put my deposit down so there was no turning back. I was given a quote of $ 960 and when the movers showed up they told me it was going to be $ 1500. I know this happens but called the guy who sold me the service to discuss to make sure this was correct. I was very polite, however he was extremely unprofessional and rude. The sales person promised me it would be delivered on Saturday between 9−11am the following week because I have to work during the week. Come the Friday before I called him at 5pm to confirm and he made me aware the truck had broke down and they wouldn’t arrive until weds. Would he have even called me if i hadn’t reached out to him? When the movers eventually showed up in Chicago (after I had to leave work early) they were late. Once all my stuff was unpacked I came to realize that 1. my furniture was dinged and chipped and 2. I was missing an entire box of belongings.
I would NOT suggest this company to anyone, beware!
