Food is delicious and the prices are amazing. Portions are very big. Quantity over quality you’d think but the quality is very good. You want to go on Monday for Pulled Pork or Tuesday for Turkey and stuffing. Honestly their Mac n cheese is to die for. I’d probably die early if I ate here all the time as its very heavy. Trust me and the other reviews go here and you won’t be disappointed. We cater Thanksgiving every year too.

Ordered the pastrami sandwich, and was disappointed. It was all fat and no meat in the sandwich. I will say when I did get a piece of meat it was good, but it was mostly fat.
Not sure if thats how the sandwich is supposed to be but hopefully it was a one off.
Will definitely give it another try just won’t order the pastrami.

Disappointing. Grabbed lunch here a couple of times since I like what they’re trying to do, serving huge portions of a variety of homemade, wholesome meals on the cheap. It all certainly looks appetizing from across the counter. Only glitch: it doesn’t taste very good. Tried something called BBQ pulled pork: the whole point of pulled pork is to make it so tender it can be pulled apart easily, but this pork was chewy and stringy, with nothing resembling a BBQ sauce. It was more like a tough pot roast with watery pan juices. I also tried an open face Philly cheesesteak, but suffice it to say this wasn’t even close to a Steak Escape at a mall, let alone the real thing. It was just roast beef sliced (tough like the pulled pork) up in a brown gravy that lacked any flavor save for salt. The sides, while ample, were equally indistinct and despite the chafing dishes, served cold. The takeaway is, I’ll get my BBQ at a BBQ joint and my cheesesteaks in Philly. Bassett’s is neither fish nor fowl, trying to make things they have no idea how to make. They seem to be doing lots of catering business, but how anyone who’s tasted this food could impose it on their guests is beyond me.

If you need food for an event — from a small backyard BBQ, to a 135 person wedding, Bassett is there for you from start to finish. Don’t be put off by their corner deli exterior: Bassett is beyond professional and what’s more, they truly care about providing their customers with fantastic food.
I had read about this company when looking for a wedding venue in NYC that would accommodate a large amount of people, but not break the bank. Bassett is wonderful because you can negotiate your meal options; they really have a price and package for everyone, from buffet style, to a four-​course seated dinner. Their options might not seem «fancy» but when was the last time you had a «fancy» wedding meal that actually tasted good? Stick with what your guests know and like and they’ll walk away feeling happy :)
The tasting alone was beyond generous and informative. We were expecting a few bites of food and a sell-​up discussion. Frank made full plates of food, both generously presenting appetizers and entrees for us to try. Frank is a great, normal guy who loves his business and wants to make you happy. No request is too small, and the best part is his honesty and transparency. They make all of their food in-​house and it’s so fresh and good, you won’t be disappointed. Even the pigs in a blanket are homemade!
These guys are with you every step of the way. Most of their packages include linens, china, silverware and glassware. They do not include alcohol but you can drop it off at their site and they will bring it on the day of your event. They truly save you time, money, and stress.
We knew we’d get incredible service, but Bassett surprised us even still: We had specially requested a mashed potato bar and a hot chocolate bar. These were a few dollars per person more but made all the difference. Everything was beautifully displayed and blew us away. You get professional, special service for a price that makes you do a double-​take.
We plan on using them for other events in the future. We can’t get over how happy we are with choosing Bassett as our wedding caterer. Feel free to DM me if you’d like to know more!

I’ve never had a bad dish from Bassett. EVER. And I’ve been going here almost 25 years.

Me and my now wife started looking for catering for our wedding well over a year in advance, for the first couple of months of looking we were pretty stressed because every place we were finding was well out of our price range with mixed reviews, we were beginning to lose hope until I stumbled upon a review that had mentioned Bassett, I went to their site to check prices and was shocked to see how reasonable they were, my next thought was they must have horrible reviews so I checked Unilocal and was again very surprised to see so many great reviews, next step was obviously make the appointment and the rest was history.
We dealt with Frank for the entire process and he was absolutely the best to work with, he sat with us during our food tasting which by the way was a feast fit for a king! and answered all our questions and sent us home with all the leftovers which lasted for a few days worth of lunches. The months that followed Frank was always available for any questions or concerns. The week of the big day he made sure to let us know that he was available for us around the clock no matter what. The day of the the wedding his crew knew exactly what they were doing and everything went flawlessly. The food compliments were plentiful that night and people continue to talk about the great food. And like others have said on here we went home with a massive amount of leftovers. If you are not using a traditional reception hall that provides food for you and you need to hire your own catering I cannot recommend Bassett enough! For the price they charge and the service and massive amounts of amazing food they provide it would be stupid to not use them!

Hot Pastrami Hero with mozzarella and grilled onions is amazing! Best pastrami sandwich I have ever had (3x better than Katz by value). This place is fantastic for comfort food.
Not to mention, the owner is super generous to the little kiddies on Halloween. She gave each trick-​or-​treater two handfuls of candy.

STOP WHAT YOURE DOING RIGHT NOW AND GO TO BASSETT CATERERS!!! I come from an Italian family and food is very important. People have NOT stopped talking about how good the food was! A few people told me that they thought the cocktail hour was the main dinner (we had a buffet) because of how much and how good the food was! The food was SO good! We had so much food left over we were giving away trays and trays! Honestly, my experience couldn’t have been any better! I cannot wait to work with you guys again in the future!

My wedding is in 10 days, so I’ll be back to update but my experience so far has been perfect! BassetCaterer’s have been a breath of fresh air in this wedding planning process. Frank has gone above and beyond in not only picking out our menu but reminding us of things we may have overlooked. He has been available whenever we need him and never rushed us. He has been honest with us and I never once felt that he was trying to scam us into paying more than was necessary. He has sat down with us on multiple occasions and listened to exactly what I had envisioned and then help me make that a reality. The food is delicious, the staff is welcoming, and working with Frank has been the BEST customer service I’ve ever had.
I found out about Bassett through Unilocal reviews and after reading the reviews I thought there was no way they could live up to their reputation. I was wrong. I would give Bassett 10 stars if I could. Like I said my wedding is 10 days away but I have no fear that Bassett will provide excellent service. Thank you Frank and BassetCaterer’s!

I love Bassett’s! Spent many of my teenage years eating from them! Always loved their entrees, and I find myself picking up the meatloaf or skirt steak everytime. Also love their baked ziti, and when available, their lasagna. I also love their meat rice balls and potato croquettes! They’ve since added a pizza over, after I moved, so I’ve yet to try any of the pies or slices, so no clue on those. They do offer Chinese roast pork every once in a while, and sadly that’s not good. If you’re going to crave that, you’re better off hitting a Chinese restaurant, as they haven’t gotten the glazing/​lacquer technique down. Aside from that, I love everything there that I can eat (no seafood due to allergies). The prices are decent, considering you get a great portion of food!

Daily specials, plates with two sides, huge overstuffed sandwiches, pizza, salads, take out and delivery, and to top it all off: catering!!!
Bassett is a family run restaurant that serves generous portions, has a friendly staff, and a clean restaurant.

When I began seeking out a company to cater for our wedding, I was referred by the venue to Bassett Caterers. We checked out the website and all looked great so we followed up by making an appointment to meet with someone to discuss. We met with the sweetest kindest man Frank who treated my husband and I like old friends from the start. We sat and discussed what we wanted which was a BBQ style buffet. Our wedding was held at the Queens County Farm in Floral Park, NY early this June.
He provided us with a complimentary tasting and although we knew right away we felt comfortable with Bassett and immediately in love with the food, Frank requested we take the time to think about it to make sure we were set before giving him an answer. He promised to hold the date for us for a few months until we were ready to make a deposit. But I was so set!!!
We did go with Bassett of course and he even offered to allow us to drop off our wine and beer for event with them to bring to the wedding on their truck. When my husband arrived and delivered in all the cases, he again offered a complimentary plate for lunch! I mean beyond sweet and my husband felt such a huge gratitude!
As for the big event, Frank arranged to have Nick work our wedding. Nick was such a sweet friendly guy who pulled everything off so wonderfully. He was so nice to my guests and after everyone got their food and sat to eat, they were immediately getting up to tell me how delicious everything was followed by running back for a second plate! No joke! I had guests rave for the chicken parm, the macaroni salad, the ribs, and the skirts steak which was quoted best they ever had! And with all the spanish guests at our wedding, you know the rice and beans had to represent and they LOVED it! I absolutely can’t recommend these guys enough. The prices are so great and reasonable but the food exceeds everything followed by how wonderful this company and staff treated us. I only wish I had more events to plan to hire these guys! My husband and I live in upper Manhattan near the Bronx and look forward to travelling out to the store someday to just eat lunch. I am going to miss them because again they treat their customers like family.

Just got italian salad … Lettuce, tomato, baby mushrooms, olives, salami, pepperoni, ham, Turkey, and mozzorella cheese! All prepacked foods are simply outragously good! And to top it, the prices are phenomenal. Can back here after having a party catered by Bassett which was nothing short of amazing. Frank was extremely helpful and really kind to us. Would highly recommend stopping in for lunch or using, them for your next party/​BBQ

This place is highly addicting. This place offers a wide variety of food that will enlighten your taste buds no matter how many times you visit. Since it’s just around my block I occasionally visit whenever I don’t have time to cook or on the go. Not only is it popular in my personal taste but to many also. Many of the events I go to hire this place to be their caterers.
For the price I would say its fair because of their wonderful sized portion

TOP NOTCH is all I really need to say about Bassett. I hired them for my recent wedding and everything was absolutely perfect. And it’s true what everyone says — you will get SO MUCH food that you will have tons leftover, regardless of how many people you have. I swear, I wanted to just give all of the rest of the food away at the end of my reception because there was so much.
We started with a cocktail hour, where everyone stuffed themselves and when dinner came out, they couldn’t believe there was more delicious food to be had. Everything was so good and fresh tasting.
I can’t forget the wait staff who were there not only serving food and making sure that it was all fully stocked, but they were also passing appetizers during cocktail hour which only made my reception feel fancier :).
I loved everything about the meal that I can’t think of a single bad thing about it and even days after my event, people were still talking about how good it was. I’m just disappointed that I wasn’t able to take the leftovers home (we didn’t have room in the fridge), because I was certainly craving their stuffed shells and steak the next day!

It’s been a number of years since I’ve gone back to Bassett and today I stopped in and sampled their Brisket lunch and their salads and I even got some meatballs for dinner tomorrow night. Everything looks great the lunch was delicious.
The place is well maintained, the staff are helpful and courteous and the prices and quality are great. I will make sure to get there again soon. I suggest you do the same.

Let me first say that I have been using Bassets for at least the last 25 years. They have catered my Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners, and have been my go to place for sandwiches and other takeout items. During all this time they have been consistently good in the way that they prepared and delivered my orders.
But something has happened to Bassets, and it’s happened recently. All of the old time employees are no longer there. The sandwiches now are nowhere near the size or the quality that they once were.
They’ve lost the overall feel of the neighborhood deli that they once had.
I ordered dinner to be delivered to my home this evening. What was in fact delivered was in an over-​cooked, non-​edible burger, with soggy fries and onion rings, and a poor attempt at a slice tomato in wilted lettuce.
Now Bassets has always try to reinvent itself, and every time you walk into the place something has changed, something is missing, and something new has been installed. It seems like this incarnation of Bassets is an epic failure.
My other recent in-​store purchases were also disappointing.
Something bad has happened to Bassets.

Great deli. Very easy to stop by here and pick up everything needed for dinner. The highlight for me is their sandwiches. I mean holy hell these things are glorious! The heroes are 8 bucks or so but you can really go crazy here and they will craft you something delicious and sizable. I also had a bad experience turned into a good one recently when I ordered and sandwich and after getting home being less than happy with it (it was super wimpy). They stayed open and made me a hero that more than made up for it though.

You really can’t go wrong coming here. Whether it’s for a sandwich, hot food, or anything really. Today, I had the chicken francese with string beans and macaroni and cheese.
$ 8 plus tax for a huge amount of chicken and 2 side dishes is truly a bargain! And the quality of this food is top notch.
In the past I’ve also had their sandwiches (specifically turkey cheese lettuce tomato oil vinegar on whole wheat hero) and it was also delicious. Their cheese rice ball in my opinion is also something to rave about. A classic choice in Brooklyn when you’re hungry. Only complaint is increase hours please! Pretty please!

Awesome caterers. I hosted a school event last June and they catered my event. They definitely gave us a ton for our buck. We paid maybe 11 – 15 a person for a 120 person event and we were left with a ton of salad and things.
The food was extremely tasty and they definitely provided us with extra. Get the meatballs and pepper dish for sure, very delicious. Also all their meat dishes are absolutely amazing. Lasagna as well. They also provided us with a huge selection of soda. They set up everything for us and gave us all the plates and utensils we needed.
Be sure to use their website. They have a ton of price menus for every party and you basically order off their website with their «pick _​_​» menu.
They were a little late to my event, but not by much, maybe a 30 minute delay, but that’s alright. They know what they’re soon and will make your event great.
