A lot of places in New York City go for the gold, silver, or diamond trifecta. It’s as though jewelry can’t be composed of anything else. Opulence, I get it. But while I myself have noted a person’s diamond, I’ve never kept looking. Because while such things signify money, they don’t signify creativity. So I wear a study in my left ear. I got the piercing in New Orleans back in 1992 when I attended Xavier University. I have amassed an assortment of interesting studs over the years. Some are the«ho-hum» basic signifiers of a certain fiscal status. Others are interesting: animals, gemstones, symbols. The latter sometimes even initiates a conversation. This store is one of the few treasure troves I’ve encountered in the city. Other shops might have a piece here or there, but this place has, as a customer remarked the last time I shopped there, «almost too much to choose from». And the price of continual glances at your ear is very reasonable.

We were walking by this store today and the nice selection of jewelry in the window compelled me to browse inside. I managed to discipline myself and not buy anything, but there were several tempting items. Also, the woman working there(who I assume is the owner) was very pleasant.
