They charge Manhattan prices but you don’t get Manhattan. Ordered a vodka martini with three olives but instead got a «three olives martini» with a twist. When I asked for the olives I was given a small number of Greek olives. Both of our meats were very fatty, my short rib was a bit over done

My friends and I ate at this location and walked away delighted. Before we sat down they politely informed us that the kitchen was backed up so their would be a longer wait time. We did not mind, it would give us more time to enjoy each other’s company. Since we were aware of the liner wait we ordered calamari to start. The size of the appetizer was prefect for the four of us. It was proportionality beaded, cooked appropriately, and tasted amazing. Following this we were served our medium rare T-​bone, medium T-​bone, medium rate New York strip, classic burger, kettle chips, and ratatouille.
Everything was PERFECTION.

Last Friday was looking for a nice steakhouse on my phone while riding home on the train. Wanted something close to home. Saw an advert on Unilocal for this place. We decided to try it out and WOW! So glad we did. Very nice upscale décor and well maintained. Glassware was spotless. We had a couple of drinks at the bar first while looking over the menu. We were seated right away in front, a corner table by the entertainment.
I ordered the NY Strip and partner had the filet. Both were cooked superbly with maybe just a touch more char. Seasoned perfectly. Tender and juicy. Side was mashed potato, also excellent. And yes, the other reviews are correct, the bread basket is piping hot when delivered.
I loved this restaurant! What a very nice surprise on a wet, cold Friday. All of the staff were friendly, pleasant, professional and not too stiff. Parking in this area can be difficult but well worth the effort. I can’t wait to go back. give it a try!

A friend found this place and we decided to check it out. Amazing! Had the filet and the spinach and mushroom gratin. Can’t wait to try the short ribs. Definitely a keeper in my rotation.

Steakhouses are a big part of my memories of dining in New York City over the decades. From the mundane to the fabulous, NYC has always had more than its share of steakhouses. Since some of the best have been leveraged into national chains, it’s always a surprise to find an independent steakhouse with a nice menu and a high-​end feel. The offerings have a slight, welcome Mediterranean tone.
I found Atlas Steakhouse here on Unilocal,and when I investigated further, it had been reviewed at other sites, too. Although the reviews varied from one end of the spectrum to the other, they were overwhelmingly positive. It appeared a safe bet and two of us made our way.
Since it just opened in 2015, I had not yet heard of it! It is on an unassuming block of Coney Island Avenue near, 18^th Avenue, in the midst of Ditmas Park and Kensington (an area known simply as Flatbush up until the 1980s).
I was suspicious that there were so few patrons at 10pm on a Friday night. I decided that since it was Shabbos and the first day of Pesach, business was probably slow. I didn’t ask. It did give us the opportunity to choose a private corner table.
I didn’t ask how they got the bread so piping hot, but it was yummy with the herbed butter. (we actually had a second basket with our meal.)
We started with the escargot and calamari, both cooked perfectly. There was a nice breading on the squid that was served a sticky, slightly spicy (Thai?) dipping sauce. Very tasty. The snails were cooked nicely and served on a proper plate, swimming in seasoned oil, but needed salt. Not a problem, just an observation.
I have read online that they bring a selection of steaks to your table for ordering; but that did not happen tonight. No matter, really; I don’t care if I see a cart full of raw meat wheeled-​up to my table. At my age, I’ve seen it plenty of times.
My companion had the T-​Bone (medium rare) and I had the New York Strip (medium rare). Both pieces of meat were of high quality. His was cooked perfectly, mine was a little too medium on one half, but medium rare on the other half (a rookie mistake). Totally edible and enjoyable.
The steaks were served with four dipping sauces: horseradish, mushroom gravy, a tomato-​y gravy, and a BBQ sauce. The first three were yummy, the mushroom gravy being my favorite. The BBQ sauce was out-​of-​place and over-​bearing. I love the flavor of steak, so I only used the dipping sauces for a few bites.
What’s with the rosemary? I like rosemary on beef, but there were two full sprigs cooked onto the top of each steak, making some bites overwhelmingly rosemary-​y. It was the only flavor during the course of the very flavorful meal that was unnecessarily intrusive. When you order your steak, ask them to go easy on the rosemary (or leave it off altogether, unless you like a lot of it); it’s what I plan to do on my next visit.
For sides we had the mashed potatoes and asparagus. We could have skipped one of them because there was a lot of food. The asparagus were fresh and cooked to perfection with just the right amount of crunch; the mashed potatoes were mashed potatoes (nothing to write about, but perfectly adequate).
We shared the crêpe cake for dessert and it was good. I would have liked to have seen a tray of the desserts! I have actually ordered two desserts at some restaurants that show me everything as a display of confections as lovely as a bakery.
The prices are very good for a steakhouse. For three courses, soft drinks, wine and gratuity, it was about $ 75 per person.
Service was friendly and attentive. The room is quite nice, two steps down from the bar, and I’d never expect to find it on this block. You know what? The room is VERY nice: modern, yet comfortable and calm.
There was a saxophone player providing jazz standards, and between sets they played similar recorded music. Perfect dining music. I can enjoy Rodgers & Hart just as easily as Bowie & Pop, or Holland, Dozier & Holland.
Although we did not sit at the bar, it is designed to be separated from the dining room, without being closed off. It is nicely decorated, has a modest but sufficient wine list, and a good selection of whiskeys. There were two televisions, but no sound of them at the dining tables.
I almost never mention the bathrooms of a restaurant, but it was so clean I have to mention it.
This is a gem hidden in an unexpected location, a «gift» of gentrification. They advertise valet parking on the website, but upon arrival it was not clear to me that it was available. I parked on the street. It is also near the B/​Q subway lines.
I’m going back.

Was there last night. Absolutely the worst steak ever. I got a aged rib steak for $ 38. No marbling at all and the toughest steak I’ve ever had. As if it was select grade. It was hard to cut with their big steak knives. Not worth making a scene. Bye bye, never to return.

I’ve been following the reviews for this restaurant for a while. The reason being is that I’m from and still live in Brooklyn also because it’s a steakhouse. So I’m reading the good reviews and more or less looking for an excuse to come here. Yesterday my Son calls me up to go have lunch on a Saturday so I scan through my restaurant list and I spot Atlas Steakhouse (it’s the first on the list). I go to the website and find the Brunch menu for Saturday and Sunday, it looks very interesting. We get there at 12:30 and it’s empty, we are the only customers (redflag?). The interior is very upscale, quite nice. After looking through the menu which had many nice choices that included a few mediterranean dishes, we were ready to order. I had the MOROCCAN ROLLS (Stuffed rolls with oxtail) for the app and SHAKSHOUKA
(Mix sweet peppers, onions, 3 eggs, tomatoes, mixed spices, served with roasted potatoes). My Son had French Onion Soup and the SHORT RIB Eggs Benedict (Poached eggs, short ribs, hollandaise sauce, served on English muffin w/​roasted potatoes). The meal was fantastic from start to finish. So like I wrote in the begining, stop looking for an excuse to eat here, JUST DO IT ! You will not be disappointed.

It’s been a long time… I shouldn’t have left you… without a dope restaurant to review… think of how many good steakhouses you’ve been to… time’s up, hey you gotta get to… Atlas!
When I tell you my steak was perfectly cooked, my steak was the PERFECT medium. But let me start from the top. Hubby and I decided to randomly go out for dinner Saturday night and I suggested steak (or should I say the baby wanted steak). Although it was pretty empty for a Saturday night, we didn’t mind at all. Our server Veronica was very attentive and had a smile on her face the entire evening. I could tell she really enjoyed working there. The menu was very simple and straight forward, making it super easy to order from. There was even a vegetarian option which kinda surprised me for a steakhouse!
We started off with the Moroccan cigars (rolled pastry stuffed with a choice of oxtails or cheese). It came 7 to an order with a remoulade-​esque dipping sauce on the side. It was delicious! Oh and how could I forget the piping hot bread basket with the herbed butter??? Lawd! I ordered the skirt steak with an a la carte side of spinach and mushroom gratin. Hubby ordered the cider marinated short ribs. Both meats were absolutely phenomenal I practically mmm-​ed my way through the whole meal!
Highly recommended for a quick date night out or even with friends. They are now serving a champagne brunch which I will try post-​baby! Check it out!

I’d been craving a steakhouse visit for a while and had recently heard about Atlas Steakhouse. It was such a great visit! I sat at the bar for something a little more casual and it was perfect. I ordered a lamb burger. Eugene on the waitstaff suggested it be cooked medium and it was DELICIOUS! Alex the bartender was friendly, attentive and made amazing drinks. Greta, also on the staff was super sweet and very attentive, too. The ambiance was really nice; they even had a live sax player playing Dave Brubeck and Gilberto/​Getz songs beautifully and at a nice volume so it wasn’t too loud for the dining patrons. My friend had the seared/​grilled salmon that looked delicious and she really enjoyed that. I’d like to return for some veal osso bucco or a juicy ribeye. Recommended!

I have really wanted to love it, but when the steaks in steak Resturant are not good all other things in the menu are nothing.

This joint is a small mom-​and-​pop style restaurant, so it was a welcome change from the big mega steakhouses that are bankrolled by huge restaurant group chains in midtown. There aren’t many fine dining restaurants in this area of Brooklyn, so this is a welcome addition. It opened in the Summer of 2015 and seems to be doing well so far.
My wife and I split the tomahawk bone-​in rib eye for two. The meat itself was nice and juicy, and had good flavor from the generous peppering. It could have used a bit more crusting, but that’s not a big deal because there was very little bleed-​out) as you can see from the photo of the plate below).
Unfortunately, however, it was overcooked. We ordered it medium rare, and it came out closer to medium well. Part of that is due to the thickness of the cut (difficult to cook evenly throughout), but part was simply just a mistake in the kitchen.
If I had to guess what happened, based on how the meat looked when it came out, I’d say it was probably cooked to rare, then sliced and finished off under the broiler to bring it up a bit more. Aside from that, it was tasty.
Each steak comes with four sauces. One is a horseradish sauce, one is steak sauce, one is peppercorn gravy and one is a tomato-​based sauce. All were good, but I think I liked the steak sauce the best (left).
There’s a good deal of options here. All the basics are covered for the major chops (plus a skirt), and there are various size and bone options for each. Very nice. Our cut didn’t have too much of the Spinalis cap, but from what I understand they offer table-​side meat selection, so you can typically pick exactly the right cut for you. The website indicates that Atlas ages their steak on site, but I’m not certain whether the quality is prime or choice. The quality of fat on our cut was a bit more grizzled than what I usually like, but not unacceptable by any means. There was very little waste on our place. We gobbled down everything. Some portions of the steak were a little bit grainy in texture, but I think that was because of the overcooking mishap.
Portions are big here. Our rib eye was 48oz! And the plating is done nicely here because they use an elevated platter, that way the big steak plate doesn’t crowd the table and take up valuable dining space. I wish more steakhouses would do the same! Other than that, it is pretty basic. Nothing too fancy. Just simple and elegant.
The prices here are something you might expect in the suburbs. It’s refreshing to see a huge 48oz steak for two listed at just $ 76. Excellent! And it’s just a quick subway ride away on the B/​Q. If you’re on a tighter budget but still looking for a pretty good steak, then this is your place.
The bar is beautifully decorated. It’s situated near the street so you get some good light, and being located on a major street like Coney Island Avenue makes for a good place to pop in for a drink or a quick bite at the bar, especially if the live music is in session. They have a great looking burger selection on the menu. What better place to throw down on a lamb burger that at the bar?
There were no specials off the menu, but you can go with lamb, veal or chicken if you aren’t man enough for beef. They even offer some vegetarian options for the truly vaginal.
We started with the crab cake. This was a good size, and chock full of meat. It had a light crisp on the outside. I think it just needed a pop of some other kind of flavor inside. Perhaps a hit of spice like jalapeño or cherry pepper, or even some celery for a lithe more crunch.
We also tried the Moroccan oxtail cigars. These are essentially egg roll wrappers that have a nice braised, tender, spiced oxtail meat inside. These were our favorite of the appetizers we tried.
One of the highlights of this section is the mushroom and spinach gratin. Essentially this is creamed spinach with minced mushrooms in the mix. Absolutely delicious, and it’s one of the best spinach dishes I’ve had at a steakhouse! The big monster steak joints of Manhattan should take note of this gem of a dish. The mushrooms soak up tons of flavor, and the texture becomes dynamic rather than just a mushy goop. I loved it.
For our first dessert, we tried this crêpe cake with chocolate mousse in the layers. Beautiful.
It was a bit more stiff in texture than I expected, likely because they have to prepare it well ahead of time and store it in the fridge, but I enjoyed it because it had great flavor and was something different from the standard, run-​of-​the mill steakhouse desserts like tiramisu, crème brûlée and flan.
Next up was yet another unique item, but this one was much more successful. The menu labels it a mango tiramisu, though it is more like a mango mousse re-​invention of, or spin on, tiramisu.
The mango and whipped cream mixture will take you back to the flavor of creamsicles from your childhood. Also there are little buried treasures hidden within the mousse: cream puffs!!!

The atmosphere and ambiance was beautiful. The food was delicious. Steak was prepared to perfection. Took friend for his birthday. Would recommend this restaurant had a great time.

The atmosphere is great, classy, sophisticated. Loved the lights and chandeliers. The staff is so professional and friendly, supreme service. I adore their menu. So many scrumptious choices, gorgeous arrangement of the food, the chef is great! The onion soup was so yummy, as well as the cyprus salad! The medalion steak and salmon we had with a side of veggies was so good! Too bad we cannot have any desserts this month due to a post-​holidays diet but next time I want to see the amazing desserts I saw being brought to other tables.
I really like this place, it’s a gem in the middle of other not so fancy places, I highly recommend it to everybody! I think you can find things on the menu even if you are vegetarian or vegan!

I took my family here for a Christmas Dinner and I have to say everyone was very pleased. We all end up ordering the NY Strip (highly recommended). I’ll definitely be back to try another cut from the menu.
FYI I wouldn’t recommend the asparagus or the grilled shrimp. Didn’t really love it, but I can’t be mad since it’s a steakhouse. Calamari was good though

Delicious food. The Porterhouse is excellent & they have great recommendations on sides if you ask and answer their questions. The staff is incredible & extremely likable. Great place to make memories our waitress was very professional and kind.

I really wanted to love this place but I just didn’t. The staff is amazing. The bar is great. The décor is lovely the chairs are comfortable. It really is a lovely restaurant. I just wish they had better food! With a new chef or some new flavors on the menu they could be really really successful.
I had a pomegranate martini to start and it was excellent. The bartender was super friendly and cool and the drink was so delicious.
Our server was so sweet and friendly as well. She even took the time to roll out the steaks to us to show us what size they all are before cooked. We started with the meze appetizer and I got the filet mignon with a side of asparagus.
The meze was bland. Their tatziki sauce honestly tasted like sour cream with some chives in it. No dill no olive oil no lemon. Didn’t taste anything like tatziki. The Turkish dipping sauce was the best on there. Even the hummus was bland though. A boring appetizer.
Filet mignon was pretty good. Cooked perfect temperature nice and juicy and a great size. But would be nothing without the added sauces and pepper. Wasn’t flavorful at all without the added touches.
As much as I’m rooting for this establishment and how much I enjoyed the hospitality I will not be back. For how high priced it is for steak (without sides!) it’s just not worth it to return

The other half and I paid this place a visit recently. Upon walking in on Saturday night, we were surprised to find that we were the only people there. After sitting for approximately two hours, we were joined by another 6 – 8 people — clearly not enough to make this place appear evenly remotely busy; too bad, because it is a very comfortable restaurant.
We were greeted by a pleasant staff who were eager to serve. The wine list is quite nice, with the bar having a decent selection of spirits; we stuck to wine and beer. The Cyprus Salad was great .a little overdressed, but quite tasty. The ribeye and San Tropez burger were decent, but nothing to rave about. We would have much rather have had greens, fries or even mashed potatoes with the burger in lieu of the mound of «kettle» (read; potato) chips that accompanied the burger. The steak, save for the fat, had very little flavor, and definitely lacked the taste of a true dry-​aged piece of meat.
We said our farewells and headed home to enjoy a movie. The next morning, the other half was up complaining about his stomach, so much so that he abandoned a cup of coffee, which is so unlike him. Within an hour, I, too, was riding the porcelain goddess like nobody’s business. While one never knows for sure what contributes to an upset stomach, we surmised it had to have been the meal that we shared at Atlas. Needless to say, we chucked the remainder of the ribeye that we had taken to go.
We really wanted to like this place, and who knows, we just may return if it manages to stay open long enough to attract business that will ensure a turnover of food that can often dictate freshness. For now, we are sitting on the sidelines while wishing them well.

Food was great, good drinks very welcoming atmosphere, the staff was wonderful !!

I came to eat here for dinner on a Wednesday evening. The décor was stunning and the food was so phenomenal that I did not have the opportunity to snap a few photos before it was devoured. The presentation of the meal was impeccable. Every plate better than the last. The butter that the bread is served with is to die for. They make it in house and whatever they put in it is absolutely delicious. The steak was tender and juicy, cooked to perfection. Best of all, they have a mixologist on staff and he can literally make you any drink. He whipped me up something that wasn’t on the menu. It tasted like a tropical paradise!
Highly recommend for romantic date nights, dinner with friends, business meetings, or large parties.

Hey Ditmas Park, East Flatbush, Kensington, Midwood, Courtelyou Rd. and the rest of Brooklyn, we finally have a steakhouse on Coney Island Avenue serving dry aged steaks (as well as burgers, fish, chicken, etc)!
Tonight was the first night of their week of open to the public soft openings which are always a good idea when starting a restaurant. Because I shop at the Atlas Meat Market on Avenue X, I knew it was happening and came with a couple of buddies to try it out and to write the first Unilocal review!
When you review a restaurant’s soft opening, you expect that there will be a bit of disorganization as the serving staff learns the ropes and the management tests out their systems. And as expected, there were some glitches (they were still learning to use the computer to figure out the checks and some things on the menu not yet available such as the right cheese (gorgonzola) for the Santrope burger so they substituted cheddar — yes they asked first) but everyone was friendly and accommodating and most importantly, the food was delicious!
We began with hot — not warm — but legit hot rolls served with herb butter. One of my friends started with very well made escargot and then ate a tender and flavorful ribeye steak that he said was big enough for two (he ate the whole thing), asparagus (excellent) and mashed potato (very good)! My other friend (who is also a Unilocaler) really liked his lamb burger and plans to come back again soon. Likewise I loved my cheeseburger that came with horseradish sauce and kettle chips.
We ended the meal with excellent coffee from their high end Italian coffee/​expresso machine. The dessert menu, however, is limited and needs improvement (chocolate). A dessert cart would add to their presentation.
The restaurant is good size and comfortable while prices are reasonable for a high end streakhouse. I would suggest that if they are targeting American as well as Eastern European customers that they tone down the techno music for something more Sinatra or jazz like.
So the bottom line is this… the food here is 5 star and when they get fully organized and settled in over the next few weeks which I am sure they will, I expect to bump them up another star!
Update: A day later I happened to walk by the steakhouse and dropped in to ask a question and discovered that they had already changed their background music from techno to soft jazz. These guys listen to their customers (and/​or read Unilocal reviews)…a very good omen!

Update November 2015: I am not a big drinker but I have watched Alex, their mixologist, at work and the guy lives to create the perfect drink!
