We came for dinner on a Friday night. The place was relatively busy and we were seated right away with menu and water. It seems that all the tables were equipped for hot pot and included electric stoves on each table. We ordered the Ying Yang hot pot(half spicy and half regular). The soup based was very flavorful and not too salty. It came with a beef side and mixed vegetables but it didn’t look too fresh. We ordered our own meat and vegetable sides, which ranged from $ 3-$ 8 per side. Those sides were fantastic and well worth the money. The dipping station is in the back and it basically includes everything you’ll ever need for your own sauce. Overall, this place does hot pot right. One comment on the staff is that they probably don’t know any English at all. My girlfriend ordered in Chinese so there were no issues. I overheard another table behind us try to order in English and the waitress asked if he could speak in Chinese(specifically Mandarin). It located in the heart of Brooklyn’s Chinatown 8th Ave so it’s kinda expected. Total bill came to $ 70(including tax and tip) and we both left full.

My experience here was terrible. I won’t be back. The staff here don’t speak English and I am convinced my experience was terrible because they couldn’t understand me. No dipping sauces? Staff struggled when I asked for extra bowls… We wandered in because I wanted phở and hot pot. Our intention was to order a bowl of phở and get hot pot to share. We skipped the phở because staff doesn’t speak English or Vietnamese and I wanted to make sure my phở didn’t have a few ingredients. If you have an allergies AVOID this place! Our drinks were so so. I ordered the passion fruit bubble tea. Heh it was okay nothing to rave about. My dining partner ordered Sweet Thai Tea. Gross! It was foamy and tasted off. Not enough tea was infused into the beverage. The hot pot comes with meat of your choice, a few strands of noodles, ready to rot veggies and corn that’s clearly old. How do I know? Once the corn was dropped into the broth it turned brown. The only decent thing I had at this place was the chicken fingers. The minute we got back to the car, I felt sick to my stomach. By the time I got home and to the bathroom I vomited $ 60 worth of food in less than 3 minutes. I’m used to eating spicy and exotic things as I’m Asian. I attribute my getting sick to cheap ingredients!

So I have not had the hot pot here, but they do have a large selection of Vietnamese cuisine in addition to the hot pot menu. Be sure to check it out! I came here originally with my nearly-expiring Groupon deal for hot pot, but quickly realized that with prices as low as theirs it was inconceivable that I would eat 40 $ of hot pot food by myself; I settled for the Vietnamese menu and ordered the veggie summer rolls with steamed rice paper, along with veggie phở. The phở was surprisingly delicious! Bill was next to nil, and they served such large portions that I was loosening my belt by the time I finished half my soup. The restaurant had virtually no customers when I walked in, and was pretty traditional in the sense that they all turned to me like«wtf? there goes the neighborhood!» I was able to integrate myself slowly with the azn population in the terrain by showing off my chopstick skills by performing a trick I like to do by throwing the chopstick paper in the air and catching it with the sticks. This gained me the trust of the packleader and it was all smiles from there — I could tell they had accepted me as one of their own(although I am about three feet taller than everyone here.) To sum it all up: pack your wallet light(except for the tip!) and wear loose-fitting pants, or preferably a mumu.

Ordering the hot pot is very confusing because the menu is not descriptive and it is mostly not in English. We tried to ask the waitress to explain it for us and she had a very difficult time speaking English. We ordered the half spicy, half normal broth, with chicken, extra meat(pork), and bean noodles(this also comes with a good amount of mixed vegetables). We originally made the mistake of ordering it without noodles, until we started to realize how to eat the food. This IS soup, for the first half of our meal we were cooking the meat in the broth and taking it out and eating it, but it tastes much better if you treat it like soup. The food was good! But got very boring after awhile. It had many more authentic flavors than the Asian food I am used to having(for better or worse.) It’s not exactly deserving of three stars, more like 2.75, but I rounded up.

Oh dang! I bought a groupon for this place… and was looking forward to try it out. They have a viet menu and a hotpot menu. Hotpot here is soooooo reasonable. They offer two types of pot selections. A personal one($ 9.99) or a giant one($ 19.99). Any of the pot sizes that you chose, comes with a basket of veggies, an egg and clear noodles. Furthermore, it also comes with a plate of meat of your choice… holy! I ended up choosing a bunch of food… ate my heart out. and felt like a whale! They also have bubbletea and slushes… i ordered a Taro Slush. and holy… that thing was huge!!! Service was attentive, and they have a sauce section in the back. You definitely get your money’s worth at this place.

So apparently this restaurant has two menus, the hotpot menu and the viet menu. Never tried the hotpot here, but I come here all the time for the viet food. Their phở is like humongous and taste quite authentic even though they aren’t viets. Try their mango shake for dessert. I don’t know but I think it is the tastiest thing ever! And also they are open until 4am! Best place to eat when you’re hungry in the middle of the night.

My cousin and I wandered in to Antelope Garden around dinner time today and found the place almost empty… not a great sign! This is a restaurant where the takeout menu still says Phở Cho Lon which I surmise was the name of the restaurant before this one. We began with Goi Cuon, which are also known as nime chow or summer rolls. They were actually quite good. Next we had chicken fried rice which did have plenty of chicken but the rice tasted like it had curry added to it. Although friendly enough, much of the help does not speak English and shied away from trying, thus our service depended on making eye contact when the server was looking somewhat in our direction.

This place use to be a Vietnamese restaurant, it’s still a Vietnamese restaurant but also a hotpot place, I dropped in for dinner one night and it looks like most people are here for the hotpot. I ordered the half spicy half non-spicy hotpot. It comes with a little basket of assorted vegetables and you have to individually order the items for the hotpot. The items were fresh and the hotpot was pretty good. Though this place is lacking in the atmosphere part, it wouldn’t be my to go spot for hotpot. When the bill came it’s relatively lower than all the other hotpot places in the neighborhood.

This restaurant replaced the Vietnamese restaurant, Cho Lon. They bought the Chinese name of the original restaurant but they changed the American name of the restaurant. My boyfriend and I stopped by to give this new restaurant a try. This restaurant offers hot pot and Vietnamese cuisine. To satisfy our cravings for phở, we each ordered a bowl. The bowls of phở were truly terrible and we would never go there ever again! It didn’t even taste like phở at all! It was abnormally dark soup that tasted weird, like watered down«beef soup with a lot of MSG». The beef slices were abnormally hard to chew, not fresh at all. We both felt very sick after eating too. I will not recommend this restaurant at all.
