Amazon Relocation

There weeks ago, I got as far as making a booking with this company for a Hoboken/​NYC move to be done one week later. They seemed helpful but were very insistent and pushy to get a $ 150 deposit from me. Within minutes of me giving my credit card number the $ 150 was charged to my card. They assured me this deposit was FULLY REFUNDABLE up to 48 hours prior to the date of the job. One hour after making the booking I canceled, as I was too uncomfortable with the large number of terrible reviews (Of course, I should have done the review checking first.) Having canceled I was bombarded with calls and emails saying that the reviews were all the work of competitors trying to give Amazon a bad name. I was unconvinced and requested my deposit be returned. To cut a long story short, The credit did not appear on my card. I got so much BS from these people about the deposit I eventually made a complaint to the credit card company and the charge has been reversed by the bank.
My limited experience in dealing with this company left a very bad taste. They came across as very sleazy.
I am relieved not to have done business with Amazon and based upon the above I would advise anyone looking for a reputable moving company to stay well away from this lot.

While I did receive good service from Amazon Relocation, I would not be happy to recommend them.
So I needed to move within the NY area and it literally involved moving stuff for a little more than 10 blocks. Since I was doing it on my own I decide to hire some relocation services, but they were crazy expensive given that it was at the end of the month in the summer.
Amazon relocation was by far the cheapest option.
I came fully prepared for the experience; I had already packed everything, made a detail inventory to the guys so they wouldn’t overcharge me and double checked the addresses.
What I really dislike about the experience is how dodgy the whole business seemed. When they send me emails, my mail would automatically send it to spam; they asked me for my security number of my card on the phone (why can’t you set up an auto-​payment?) and when the movers left they also took my security number as well as all my card info
I think that is a big temptation for the guys that helped me out (which were extremely nice) and I really don’t appreciate that the company puts them (and me) in that position.
I cancel my card after their transaction went trough. It was a minor hassle, but one that can and should be avoided

What a horrific experience. They are complete and utter scammers. I wish i has done more research and looked at the Better Business Bureau complaints, or the Scammer Report complaints before I hired them. I wanted to wait until I felt less traumatized to post a review but here it goes. The literally stole some of my boxes. They are a middle man, they hire third party companies, when my stuff was stolen they plainly stated they didn’t care, it wasn’t their problem. I didn’t loose stuff, I lost pictures, my computers filled with irreplaceable pictures of family members. Precious heirlooms. You will have ZERO legal recourse. They count on the fact that you are moving and that you cant be there physically to sue them. PLEASE do your own research.

Here is a very honest review of my experience. I used Amazon Relocation for my move from NJ to CA. First, I want to say that Jennifer is amazing. This was my first move on my own and I was so stressed and overwhelmed. Jennifer made me feel at ease and helped me through the process. She even gave me advice on what to do and what to look for in case I decided to go with another company. All in all, the customer service with this company is what won me over. Something that I didn’t like was that my stuff was ultimately delivered by a 3^rd party contracted by Amazon and these people did not make my experience good. When it was time to get my things to me, they (the 3^rd party company NOT Amazon) did not answer my calls and were much later to get my items to me than they told me. I ended up having to call the folks at Amazon to let them know about my experience. They didn’t know this was happening and were very empathetic an helpful in reaching the 3^rd party on my behalf and figuring out why happened. Even though the last part of my experience wasn’t great, I think Amazon handled it well and I WOULD use them again for future moves. Their great customer service and affordable price was great.

Used Amazon relocation to move from Brooklyn to queens on a snowy day. After scheduling a date and time with the polite and helpful manager Jennifer my work was done. They were able to take all the stress away from the whole day. All I had to do was sit back and relax why they did all the work. Will definitely use them if I ever move again

I recently moved from Orlando Florida to brooklyn new york. I contacted Amazon Relocation. From the beginning to the very end they made my move so simple. I was very nervous and had a lot of questions which were answered with extreme knowledge. The customer service was exceptional. The guys worked efficiently and packed all my items safely. When my items were in transit to me I knew where my stuff was at all times and my items reached in the time frame disclosed to me. There were no damages and I even received a follow up call after the move was completed to make sure i was happy which i was. Amazon relocation really cares about their customers. I have already recommended them and will only use them in the future. I love this company.

Rip off! They are cheaters. Beware. My blood boils when I think of the experience. Person named Jacob is a liar. Never trust him. He talks very decently and traps you. He charges three times what he quotes. I got my stuff damaged and no body cares when I called

SCAM!!! If you use this company you are asking for trouble. You will NOT pay what they quote. What WILL happen is: they will show up on moving day and say there is more sq footage and double the price on you. Long story short, do not trust JACOB’s word and do not give them you cc info. They charged me a $ 250 deposit and did not move a thing after I disagreed with the steep price increase on moving day. I literally have them on video fleeing the scene without rendering any services whatsoever. They charged my account although they left my home without moving anything. The stress this caused is unacceptable. Absolutely ridiculous. DO NOT USE this company under any circumstances.

WARNING SCAMMERS AND THIEVES!
Just a week ago my wife and I relocated from New York City to Atlanta, Georgia. I had a great interaction with Jacob on the phone and got a quote around 800 dollars for the move. The week leading up to them coming to pick up everything I called everyday of the week to update any changes to our packing list, additional boxes, etc… the items I gave on the phone were EXACTLY what was moving nothing more nothing less, and absolutely nothing left out. On moving day, my total came out at approximately $ 1500!!! Because we went over over allotted 320 sq ft in the moving truck, despite more than 7 quotes/​updates with company. I didn’t really care at that point, I just wanted it moved.
Here comes the fun stuff…
I was told my stuff would arrive in Atlanta, GA on Tuesday or Wednesday the following week (we moved out on a Friday). Didn’t hear a word so I called on Wednesday, they gave me the drivers number and I called him on Thursday. He told me he would be in Atlanta by Friday but did not know when and that he would call the morning of the day of delivery so we could prepare. I never heard from him Friday so left for dinner with my wife about half an hour from where we live. We get there and I get a call, he’s waiting outside to unload at 7:30 on a Friday night, NO WARNING whatsoever.
They unloaded and got it done smoothly, but of course placed everything into a gigantic pile of boxes and stuff so you really can’t see what’s there or not.
Here’s what I discovered MISSING so far
–an acoustic guitar, case, and accessories
–a large vintage mirror that was boxed
–art — paintings inside a box from an artist in NYC
–a Rubbermaid containing a baby air purifier, all the cables and remotes to our tv, and other house hold items.
i think these folks have figured out the perfect scam. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Go with a big name mover like allied and get insurance. I’m out 1500 or an 800 quoted move plus 200 tips to each movers team plus the lost items roughly 1300 for a grand total of $ 4,000 loss for what should have cost $ 1000.
They are the nicest people you’ll ever speak to on the phone, don’t get scammed. I’ve learned a life lesson.

Wow, where do I begin… First, I should have trusted the Unilocal reviews and NOT hire these guys after their terrible ratings. What was I thinking?! Everyone, please check with the Better Business Bureau first @

I was over charged $ 1,053.25 from my estimate and received my household goods 10 days past the original agreed delivery date as indicated on the bill of landing (total delivery time took 40 days from NYC to SF).
* A person named Jacob originally quoted $ 3,643.00 for a one bedroom move from NYC to San Francisco (I agreed to pack my own boxes). After they stored all my stuff in their truck, they gave me a new total of $ 4,546.25 since I had an additional 175 cubic feet! They just arbitrarily gave me the measurement without giving me the opportunity to measure or inspect the load inside the truck creating a $ 903.25 increase. I gave them exact details of what I needed to move and didn’t deviate. We actually did not pack ¹⁄₃^rd of the items we discussed over the phone during the pre-​move estimate, which they refuse to do in-​person.
* I was told that the move would take two weeks to deliver once I gave the movers my final destination address here in San Francisco. On July 9^th, I called with my address. They said it would take 7 – 10 business days. After two weeks, I called trying to figure out where everything was. The same guy, Jacob, stated my goods would definitely arrive in one more week due to interstate traffic delays. One week later, I still did not have my stuff. By Wednesday July 23^rd, I called again. Jacob stated that I should expect a call from the driver and that my goods would get there the next day on Thursday, July 24^th. No call.
* I finally acquired the driver’s number and called myself. The driver stated that the delivery would occur on Friday July 26^th. On Friday the driver called saying that the delivery would now occur on a Saturday and that there would be an additional $ 450 charge since he needed to move my items on a small shuttle to get into the city. This charge was never explained to me at any part of the process or initial quote, even after giving Jacob my city destination (the $ 450 charge was blanket charge to any destination in San Francisco). The $ 450 charge was given to me one day prior to the proposed day I would receive my shipment without any warning.
* I told them I would absolutely not pay an additional $ 450 hidden charge. This refusal delayed delivery once more. The new delivery date was now set on Monday August 4^th from 3−8PM since they didn’t have a shuttle available until that day.
* On my scheduled delivery date (Monday, August 4^th), I received a call at 5PM stating that they could not find a shuttle to move my goods and the movers would now come on Tuesday August 5^th. I had took my entire day off to receive my goods and they call during the delivery time to tell me they have to push it back one more day with zero notice or warning.
* All this time I tried to talk to a manager at Amazon Relocation. Jacob told me the manager’s name was Sean at Amazon. However, no one wanted to pass me the phone over to Sean. Instead I had to deal with Jacob. Everyone, including the phone operator – Jennifer – refused to pass me the phone over to Sean. What’s worse is that they felt no obligation to help out with my situation. Every request was refused and given another excuse as to why I didn’t have my goods. Later I found out that a Sean never existed as the
website lists Jacob as the owner.
* After having my goods picked up on June 26^th, they were final delivered on 05 August 2014. A full 12 days over the verbally promised date, over 10 days past their agreed delivery date as indicated on the bill of landing, for a total of 40 days!!! Without my furniture and cookware, my wife and I were required to constantly eat out and pay for lodging, as we did not have any of our furniture.
Do yourself a favor and say no to these crooks.

The bad reviews here? 1000% accurate. How I missed them I’ll never know. So the short version: we moved from NJ to CA. Our stuff was picked up July 11^th with the expectation of delivery within 7 – 10 business days. It is now July 31 and we have not received a) our stuff b) any definitive information that is reliable about delivery c) still have no idea if we will get our stuff. Our original estimate was doubled and Amazon Relocation has the worst customer service EVER (her name is Jennifer btw). And Sean, another troll. Would I recommend them? Never.
Yes, they low ball and then double the estimate AFTER they load and pack the truck. No they do not deliver the goods within the promised 7 – 10 days (why promise, just be honest!!) No they are not polite or reasonable and their basic customer service skills are so far below acceptable it’s amazing they are still in business. Are they running a SCAM? Yes, read all these reviews. If you are constantly called out for bad business practices, there’s truth in them.
Let’s talk specifics: we were moving from NJ to CA. They picked up our house full of stuff on Friday July 11^th, 3 hours earlier than the agreed time (I like a head start but our town has rules about when work can start and we risked a fine for disturbance by starting loading at 5:30 a. m when the agreed pick up/​start time was 8 a.m.) We were told 7 – 10 business days for delivery. We left the next day and drove across the country in 7 days aiming to get to our new place before the movers. We got to Cali on the 18^th expecting to see our stuff in the next few days. I called Jennifer the following week. She said our stuff left Brooklyn on July 21^st. A whole week later than we expected and she brushed me off and said «that’s not the way it works in this business». Hello: I’m not in «this business» so it might be better to manage customer expectations up front by being HONEST and clarifying «how it works in this business» before grabbing my money and taking the job? But this is not an ethical company: honesty eludes them.
I call Jennifer back on Friday July 25^th for an update on where the truck is. She can’t say where it is because only dispatch knows and she says she will call me back shortly. I call back again a second time, same day, hours later because I have received no response and this time Jennifer barks that she can’t «push [dispatch]» for information because they are busy. WTF? That’s their job! It’s not rocket science to figure out where the truck is. Nor is it hard to pick up the phone and update your customers where their stuff is since it is overdue. Again, customer service 101, even if you are providing the worst service ever.
Monday July 28^th another call to Jennifer to find out where the truck is results in some information! Progress! The truck is in California. Yippee! Now she can’t say which day it will show up but she does assure me I will have everything «by Thursday» and that «the driver will definitely call you». Then she adds «but they might even show up before that.» Silly me. Got my hopes up. Wanted to give Jennifer and Amazon Relo benefit of the doubt that they could redeem themselves here even though they were late on delivery, vague in agreement details and horrible at customer service. Like I said, silly me.
Another phone call to Jennifer nets the same rude push back and non-​information as before. Uh, you said we’d have it by Thursday. You said the driver would call. Nothing. Nada. When pressed for details and specifics, once again, Jennifer comes up empty with excuses and that tired old push back. Fortunately for me, my husband did this phone call. He is infinitely more patient than me and even he was beyond exasperated.
So here we are, almost 3 weeks after our stuff was picked up, almost two weeks since we arrived in CA in an empty house, sleeping on air mattresses and sitting on deck chairs. One kid about to go to college and the other getting ready for the new school year: no clothes, no sports gear, no towels, sheets, nothing. None of the basic stuff that makes life go. You think that’s whining? Hope you and your family don’t have to go through it. Unless it’s planned minimalism or a camping trip, it’s not fun after the third day. And it’s expensive to buy a bunch of «new» stuff just to make do until your real stuff shows up.
Just to address anyone who might say we should have known better? How many times in your life do you do a cross country move? How many of you make decisions that are governed by financial limitations and so the initial best price wins? How many of you know the saying «you don’t know what you don’t know». Right. So that is how we ended up with Amazon Relocation. Is it our fault they are a shoddy business that does not do their job well (if at all)? No, not when we are paying 6k. Use at your own risk.

Meh. I’ve heard horror stories from moving companies in general – but this is personally my first time going with a company. I chose them (even though they were slightly more expensive) because they reached out to me quickly and seemed attentive and organized. WRONG! Jennifer – seemed wonderful at first – but ended up scamming me and it caused a bit of a stir on moving day (which is already stressful). After a bitter verbal attack on the phone – they cleared up the situation. One thing I found to be very weird (and am looking at my debit card)…is that the movers took a picture of my debit card because they said they needed it… strange. People are already skeptical about movers in general… it’s weird that they would ask that. Regardless, you’re probably better off going with someone else.

Worst moving experience ever!!! Just as every other negative review, Jacob low balls you into an estimate in the beginning. Once you book them they show up and explain you have more items than you mentioned and as soon as they take your stuff there will be «unexpected delays» and you will not get your stuff until up to 21 days later. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They SCAM every customer they happen to get and lure you in with a fake estimate lower than anyone else quotes you. They also only exceot cash on delivery or thy will not unload your items. They use third party delivery trucks. For example. i moved from New York to Florida and the delivery guys were from LA. They will not ship your items until they have a full 18 wheeler truck to make it worth their effort. They scam EVERYONE that uses them. Any positive review on them has been posted by an employee of Amazon relocation. They are fake. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY! I hope this review warns people away who so they do not continue to do this to innocent customers and steal your money. I filed a complaint with the BBB and got no where.

This is a follow up review of Amazon Relocation. I have been jumping through all their hoops regarding the claims and complaints I have filed with various agencies and still have not been refunded for the amount they over charged me! almost $ 5,000, and they have not paid me for all my belongings they damaged. I have been under «review» for over seven (7) months!!! Do not use this company! I can not stress this enough or more strongly warn you not to use this company. There are many reviews similar to mine so use caution and read all the reviews!!! I WISH I HAD READ THE REVIEWS! And I wish I had never used Amazon Relocation. This is not a good company.

STAY AWAY!!! We used this mover for our move from Jersey City to Tampa FL and just like what other people here posted, they SCAM you by low balling an estimate and then charging you double when it’s move day!!! We repeatedly gave this dude Jacob revised versions of what we had and he kept saying estimates still remains. We also requested they come over to assess our items prior to the move but we were told that they don’t do that… BIG MISTAKE! That’s usually a red flag that movers are scammers when they say that. NEVER AGAIN!!! Also, when we got to tampa, my husband found out that his box of watches are missing. One of the packers swiped it (partly my husband’s fault anyway for being stupid as to leaving that around for them to pack), but still, they are in my opinion SCAMMERS, THIEVES. Stay away and don’t ever buy into their estimates. I’m filing a complaint with the federal motor carrier safety administration so they get shut down.
BUT AGAIN, DO NOT EVER THINK OF USING THIS COMPANY. TRUST ME, THEY WILL SCREW YOU.

I was initially quoted a price around $ 1300 to move from Philadelphia to the San Francisco area. After the company had packed my belongings, they told me it was twice as much as they had expected and therefore I owed them twice as much. In addition to raising the quoted price, they told me that they would pick up on the May 13^th and deliver on the 18^th. The day of the 18^th I called to find out when they would be there and was told, «I don’t know and won’t be able to tell you until Monday» (the 21^st). When I called on Monday, to my shock and dismay, I was told that my belongings had not left their facility and they could not tell me when they would. Today (Tuesday, the 22^nd), I was told that my belongings would not leave the facility until Friday the 25^th and would not arrive until «maybe» the next Friday, June 1^st.
My belongings finally arrived 23 days after they were picked up and the price was more than twice what I was initially told. They would not give me my belongings unless I paid them. Also, several of my belongings had been damaged.
To say that I am emotionally distraught is an understatement. This company, who has repeatedly lied to me and acted in bad faith is currently in control of everything that I own in the world.

Overall great experience with these guys. My recent long distance transport far exceeded expectations from past experiences that I’ve had with moving companies. Lets just say movers are not exactly known to be the most reputable trade around… These guys were on-​time (asked if I would like to take delivery of my furniture one day early) and professional as I’ve received in my experience.
