this place is great. I need to try some more dishes. But the pad see ew keeps calling my name when I walk in there.

The first Thai restaurant I had ever been to. BYOB which was awesome. It is possible that my 5 stars could be nostalgia. What I do remember for sure is that my food was way way too spicy(upon the recommendation of a friend for spice level) and it got me hooked on thai food for years. The downside: I tried to go recently on a Sunday and they were closed :(I can’t wait to go back someday.

Solid tofu and vegetables with rice. Stayed warm on my journey back to Harlem. This isn’t my most favorite Thai food ever, but it was edible and if I were in the neighborhood again I would probably come back.

This has been my go to Thai restaurant for years. Perfect for those small group, low key Friday night meals before the big night out. It’s BYOB! I first hit this spot up for lunch when I worked in the hood years back. Love their Thai veggie fried rice with a medium spice… Medium is spicy indeed and full of flavor. If you’re feeling risky go for the hot spicy and you’ll clear your sinuses in a second. All of the curry dishes are spot on and rich with flavor… You can’t go wrong. The pad Thai and pad see ew are no joke here and definitely some of the best I’ve had since my travels in Thailand circa 2005. The hands down must order dish is the barbecue chicken. Comes with black bean rice and sweet chili sauce mm mmmm mmmmmm so good drooling right now just thinking of it! It’s a half chicken barbecued Thai style with so much flavor and incredible textures and juiciness. The staff kicks major butt also. Super friendly and always smiling. Love them so much.

Pad Thai was not bad and the portions were average. Pad See Ew was also average. Thai iced tea was good as most thai iced teas should. I would go to another place if you were looking for food in general, but this place would suffice if you have a craving for Thai.

Been here often. Always order a papaya salad and Seafood Pad Pong Curry. They were pretty good

The Thai spring rolls were okay. I got the veggie pad Thai at medium spice. Was a little disappointed because the spice overwhelmed the savory flavor of the dish, it was difficult to eat without having to eat a piece of bread in between each bite.

I ordered a take-out Pad See Ew from here and it was pretty good. No complaints. I wish they’d accept credit cards, but otherwise, this place is solid.

This is a great Thai café. It’s a good value and the food is simple and delicious. The kitchen takes up two thirds of the room– which illustrates what’s important — the cooking of the delicious food. The chicken pad Thai is divine– just sticky enough — delivering delicious peanut, rice noodle, smoked tofu and chili chicken essences — a little different in every bite– with just the right amount of fresh spring scallions and bean sprouts to cleanse the palate so the flavors can be reintroduced and fucked by your taste buds more deeply, knowledgeably, thoroughly…

Sweat and simple Thai place. Popped in for a late afternoon lunch. A little skeptical at first because the place was empty, but quickly realized the locals love this place. Tons of pick up orders! The food was great! Chicken pad Thai was flavorful and spicy. The fried wantons were not only beautifully presented but absolutely delicious! I topped it off with a Thai iced coffee. Very pleased with my meal and service. CASHONLY, but inexpensive for what you get!

Solid four stars on food and service– what it lacks in décor it makes up for with the food. A friend from the area took us there last night, and I’ve gotta say I was a bit skeptical going in– it looks like any other run of the mill Chinese joint when you walk in. It’s a trick. It’s camouflage. We had too many dishes to remember– there were five of us, so five appetizers and five or six entrées as well as five beverages(soft, but they do allow BYOB). The bill was under $ 100– for some of the best Thai I’ve ever had. Parking was ok(muni-meter). I live in The Bronx, and I’d go back there just to go back there– enjoy!

This place is amazing. We really loved the massaman curry dish. Another great item on the menu is the grilled chicken breast even though it is a very inconspicuous description it is a very large and delicious portion. In addition to that, it is a family-run restaurant and has a great atmosphere. I have also had the pad Thai and the pad see ew which are both very very good. But possibly my favorite part of Amarin is the great prices and the value that you get for the price. It is also BYOB which means you can bring in whatever you would like to drink and get great prices on food. The place is always very busy and hopping with customers. The front of the building is all glass so it creates a very nice natural lighting if you go during the evening hours and also let’s you enjoy what’s going on on the street during the night hours. A great place to take a nice date — or to just grab a quick meal for a great affordable price.

My boyfriend and I love their food. We’ve been here several times and never been disappointed. Today I ordered the spicy shrimp pad Thai and it was perfect. Just the right amount of spiciness. Their calamari is always fresh and their Thai cold coffee is delicious. Best Thai food in Greenpoint.

Very average. Had a thom khan Kai soup which was nice. Good flavors. Lacked a bit of depth but good still. Then had a Thai basil chicken with rice on the recommendations of the waitress. It was 3 stars at a stretch. Not very flavorful. Lacked everything. Was Chinese style more than Thai(ie lacked the bite which comes from limes chilli fish sauce and garlic). The rice was crap. I have a very sensitive stomach. After finishing the meal i didn’t feel good. The red peppers and the rice were not fresh I think. Anyways. I won’t be coming back here but not awful.

This place ROCKS! I went through a phase awhile back… I’d have to look at my Unilocal reviews to determine when haha but a phase of BYO madness after realizing that I spend an extra $ 30-$ 45 at dinner for wine. Well Amarin Café is BYO! woohooo This place is busy busy. They do have a good number of seats and food comes out quickly so if there is a wait it won’t be a long one. One of the coolest things about the menu is you can order any dish with your preferred level of spiciness. My fiancé was soooo excited when he got to have spicy massaman curry as you don’t get that very often. I enjoyed my Pad Thai as well. The wontons were definitely more somosa like but good. Overall, already dying to go back!

One of the better Thai restaurants in this neighborhood. Service is quick and friendly, and the staff is pretty consistent about asking the level of spiciness you’d like your food. I’m a sucker for shrimp pad thai and pad see ew. Amarin offers good takes on both, for extremely affordable prices(I think that almost everything on the menu is under $ 10) and with fast service. If you’re looking for Thai in Greenpoint, this should be your first stop.

Possibly my new favorite Thai restaurant ever. I would honestly put this place above Lotus of Siam in Las Vegas, which is supposedly the«number one Thai restaurant in the country». I have been to both places multiple times and here’s why Amarin comes out on top… First of all, Thai restaurants are not meant to be upscale or fancy. Amarin has a casual, relaxed vibe that properly fits the culture and cuisine. It’s BYOB, which makes it very affordable to bring a bottle of wine or whatever choice of beverage to enjoy with your meal. Second, the staff is very accommodating. Many Asian restaurants tend to be uptight and difficult to get what you want. Somehow it’s always $ 1 – 2 extra for the simplest things and getting a refill on water is next to impossible. The staff at Amarin has always been friendly, polite, and willing to work with you on dining preferences. Delivery has always been on point. Third, pricing is VERY reasonable. Portions are decent(not huge, but won’t leave you hungry). Most importantly, their FOOD. Oh my goodness, their pad kee mow is some of the best I’ve had. The only thing I would change is how much the noodles are all badly stuck together, which makes it seem like I’m eating one giant noodle rather than many noodles. They need to break their noodles apart better. With that being said, the flavor is GREAT and because of my abnormal addiction to ridiculously high levels of spice, I get mine«Thai spicy» level 6 on a scale from 1 – 5. They never disappoint on the spicy front and although they warn me every single time that I won’t be able to handle it(and I get irritated because they literally tell me EVERY time)…they still deliver the insane amount of spice I look forward to. THANKYOUFORACTUALLYMAKINGMYFOODDELICIOUSLYDEADLY. Must haves: the hot & sour soup with shrimp, spring rolls, papaya salad, and of course the amazing PADKEEMOW.

I was greeted… oh wait, I was never greeted. The hostess left the counter and proceeded to clear two tables before taking my order. I found this to be rude especially since there were no waiting customers except me waiting to place my order. I was hungry and therefore endured the wait before ordering my panang curry which was good and spicy the way I like it and that was MILD versus their version of hot.

after working on a production set, our group was famished and being in the neighborhood I whipped out my Unilocal and started seeing what was close by that could possible be an option. Seeing our options, Amarin Café seemed like the logical choice and before we’d pack for the day, we stopped by this place with our group of 15. The restaurant is a better take-out option as seating is limited, so we waited a little while for a few tables to clear up so we could extinguish the hunger. The staff was nice, accommodating and patient as we all settled in and ordered food. While we ordered many things of the menu to try and share among the group, I personally had the Thai Spring Rolls(Fried) and the Amarin Spiced Rice. I am big fan of the spicy drunken noodles but this time, opted for the Amarin Special as the description of fried rice with shrimp and spicy beef seemed the logical option. The food was prepped quick and so flavorfully delicious and spicy enough to light up a match as I had hoped. As sighed with each bite, I cannot deny how great it was. Anyone in the vicinity, should definitely give it a try and for the local in the area, I hope this is a regular to go to place, simply because I would love to live close to this place…
