The wait was ridiculous. The place wasn’t even packed close to empty, there was no reason I got my food and my guests got their food extremely late. Smh first and last time here. My food was not even hot.

CaMe here for a bday brunch, had a pre fix menu that included choice app, a pitcher of mimosa, main dish. Food was wonderful but the mimosa was weak nothing but orange juice. One of the waitress was rude at times. Atmosphere is wonderful, music was fine. I would go back since i enjoyed the food.

Visited On April 17 For My Cousins Private Birthday Brunch I Must Say I Was Impressed From The Time I Walked Through The Door The Interior Is Amazing. We Were Seated Promotly On Entry Which I Was Very Happy About Even Tho My Cousin Didn’t Arrive Yet We Were Still Catered Too Which With Most Olaces Majority Of Your Party Has To Be There. The Waiter Was Super Nice Very Funny And Attentive … The Food Was Amazingggggggggggg So Much Flavor We Were Given Personal Pitchers Of Mimosas But I Had A Margarita Instead It Came With Our PreFixe Menu. Overall I Would Visit Here Again And Recommend It To EVERYONE

The food was excellent! My mother, daughter and I went there yesterday for Mother’s Day Brunch. I had the Salmon Burger which was delicious! My mother ordered the Rib Eye Steak and my daughter had the Steak Quesadillas and they both raved about the food! This Caribbean infused eatery has décor that is inviting, cozy and friendly… I would have given this place 5 starts but there were some confusion around our actual order that we placed with the waitress and it took some time for us to receive our food (I did factor in that it was Mother’s Day and that it might take longer than usual to be served). All in all, it is a great place and I would recommend it to anyone.

The décor and location of this place are awesome. It’s very easy to get to if you’re taking public transportation, and there is parking nearby if you drive. They also have a parking deal with one of the local parking garages which makes parking a lot easier.
The service here is okay, nothing spectacular. The server didn’t seem to happy to be there and had a little bit of an attitude. However, I didn’t come there for the service, I came for the food so let’s get to that. For the appetizer, I ordered the wings. Those were delicious. They had a dry rub and one that had sauce on it. I don’t remember what the saucy wings were called but I would recommend trying those. They were finger licking good! :) I ordered the oxtails, rice and sweet plantains for dinner. The oxtails and rice were okay. Nothing I would crave, but they were decent. They were a little spicy, so if you don’t like spicy food, stay away. The plantains came out when I was almost done with my meal, and they were decent also.
Now for the ambiance, I would give this place more stars just for that. They had a featured guest and she was bomb AF. She was playing the guitar and singing, and boyyy was she talented. She had everyone grooving to her music as she performed covers and original pieces. I went on a wednesday night, which I think was poetry night. I would come back again just to hear their featured guest.

This is definitely a hidden gem in Brooklyn. Wish I knew about this place sooner. The food is a mix of carribean/african.I Purchased a groupon and had a wonderful time. From the time we stepped in the door to the time we exited we received great customer service. Our waiter Tyrece, who also took my reservation the day before was excellent. He was extremely attentive and patient. The food was very tasty and the portions sizes are enormous. I definitely could not finish my oxtails in one sitting. Love the great ambience, the dj was on point playing a nice mix of hip hop and r&b, and last but but not least the drinks were great. Try the Lagos Punch. It sure packed a punch. This is a trendy restaurant great for a group or a first date. Wasnt crowded for a friday night but maybe saturday nights are better. Would definitely come here again.

I initially came to this location because it was on the list for 100 black owned businesses in New York City. To say that this restaurant did not disappoint is an understatement. I checked in with Unilocal and received a free rum punch which was amazing. The flavor was well balanced. The right ratio of punch to alcohol. For entrée I decided to indulge in the creamy curry chicken with a side of rice and spinach. However I did not receive spinach with my meal. I am not certain if the menu has been updated and the info is not relayed to guest but they redeemed themselves with the curry chicken entrée. It had the right amount of spice and flavor that I enjoyed with every bite. The décor and service was good. I will definitely be back to this black owned establishment. Prices for meals range between $ 13 – 40

I went for my cousin’s birthday day dinner and the service was very poor. We chose this restaurant because we went there before and it was wonderful but this time we waited for almost 3 hours for food. We called before and asked if the had the spark candles but when it was time for cake they said they did not have it. We were not pleased with the service and was very disappointed.

Amazing service, amazing food, amazing drinks! I will definitely be back. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The house punch is really good and is highly recommended. The jollof rice is great with the beef. Looking forward to going back to try the Eba and Igusi soup.

Worst service EVER. Please save all of your coins. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME LOOKING FOR PARKING or SENDING YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY.
The wait staff is untrained! No manners whatsoever.

The food is horrible. I sent my steak back because it was over cooked and I was given back the same steak 20 minutes later drastically over cooked. Everyone’s food came 10 minutes apart.
I’m currently sitting in the venue waiting yet again for my check its been 30 minutes. my friends and I are considering just walking out right now.

My partner and I are planning our wedding reception and were trying spend most of our money with black owned businesses. I looked on
and found this spot. I contacted them and their pricing and menu seemed similar to what we were looking for. So this weekend my partner and I decided to go check out the food.
We made reservations to have brunch through
. I wasn’t sure what time they opened but 10 minutes before our reservation, we arrived and decided to go in. We walk in and are hit with some intense incense burning near the front. They tell us that they are still setting up so we leave and go for a walk. We’re gone for about ¹⁵⁄₂₀ minutes and then return. My partner goes in to see if they’re ready and they don’t even acknowledge him. He decides to walk back out and call them. They tell us that we can come back in and wait but that they’re still not ready. So why did we make reservations?
We go back in and the woman seems to have an attitude as though it’s our fault she has to be at work right now. She seats us in this cramped corner and leaves. My partner and I are quite tall so we decide that we’d like to move to a similar table that has a little more space. Due to the already poor service, we get and move on our own. When she comes back, I explain what happened and ask if it’s alright. She tells me that they are having an event but that it’s alright for now. (Didn’t need to know all that. It was a yes or no question.) Let me also note that we are the only So we order a whole bunch of food so that we can taste a few different items to better make our decision. She asks me about drinks and I state that I hadn’t even looked and could we have a minute.
After about 5 minutes of waiting for her to come back for the drink order, I give up and walk up to her. I tell her that we’d like an hour of unlimited mimosas. She tells me that because of the event, that’s not possible. At this point, I inform her about the reservation and state that I wish someone would have notified us that this was not possible. (I also stated to my partner that even if they hadn’t done that, why not just tell us that they’re not open instead of taking us through all of this.) She then blames
and tells me that we can order a single glass of mimosas if we’d like. I decline because that clearly would be stupid on our part. Why pay almost the same price for one drink when we were about to get unlimited drinks for an hour for $ 25? I walk back to the table and explain what happened to my partner. We decide to stay at this point only because I feel bad since we already ordered the food. The waitress comes back to our table and gives us 2 mimosas. No explanation. No apology. And doesn’t even tell us if these are on the house or we’re paying for them. I take one sip and don’t like the taste (I love mimosas so not sure what was up with this).
So we sit… and we wait… The staff are standing by the bar having their own personal conversation… Inappropriate personal conversation. I can’t tell you what they talked about but I’m going to believe that saying the n-​word multiple times (not derogatory but just through the conversation) is inappropriate when you have customers… even if we are the only customers and are black ourselves. But during this, I also see at least one of the cooks come out a few times to socialize with them. I run through my head about what we ordered questioning if it could be left to cook while he’s out here… Or maybe there’s more than one cook. Who knows. But after some time, my partner asks what time we got there because it’s now 11:40 with no food, bad mimosas, and horrible service. We wait a little longer when the waitress, who has now shaken off her bad attitude, comes to inform us that the kitchen did not get our order so they hadn’t started cooking it. Maybe I’m mistaken but did this place grow to the size of a Cheesecake Factory while I was sitting there? Did you not think it was weird when he kept coming out there and hanging out with the rest of the staff? At that point, I’m done and we decide to leave. She said that it would only 10 more minutes but I was totally over it and had only stayed because I thought the food was already being prepared
It’s up to you but I will never go there again. And DEFINITELY not for my wedding. Don’t even know if the food was good but none of that matters with all the rest of the stuff I experienced. If I could give less stars I would… To management, please figure out a way to get better organized and train your staff… or fire them. Either way, an overhaul needs to happen.

Ok… Hmmmm… I don’t know man… I am still shaking my head a couple of times…
So let me start with the positives… this is an extremely beautiful and flavorful venue… the interior is real cool… the sound system… the lounge setting to the multi demensional and functional capacity of the venue are EXCELLENT… PRIME LOCATION…
So you are wondering why the low rating… still shaking my head… a beautiful family friend had her wedding shower at the Resto… she rented out the entire place which was real cool… SO…
The Service:1 Star…
Restauraunt Coordination: 1 star… Pre-​set menu was chosen and placed on every table… To get the appetizer took 2 hours ½… they had 1 waiter for like 11 different tables… With such a big party where are your waiters and waitresses. and I mean experienced staff
Staff at the Bar: 1 Star… With literally 4 people at the bar. the young lady was texting while we were waiting… literally… who does that…
The Food: 1 Star… not only did people leave with out eating due to the extremely under staffed service… To make matters worse… the resto ran OUT OF FOOD… so the remaing guests had to settle for what was left.
The best thing on my plate was the mixed salad and dressing… The food left no pleasure nor desire to return.
After the ambiance… the best part of my night was the two cakes that were served… and guess what. it was not from the restaurant… it was from an outside bakery…
Black Owned Businesses… let’s do better and be better… Experienced Staff is necessary… Trained Staff is necessary… Preparation is Key… Delivering on Service and customer service must be exceptional… The key to REVENUE is to ENSURE the CUSTOMER IS HAPPY!

My girlfriends and I have decided to hit all the Black Owned Restaurants in NYC. Amarachi was our first stop and we were not very happy. Our reservation was for 7pm on a Saturday night for 10. Ambiance 5 Stars, floor Mgr/​Waiter/​Bartender (Tyrese) 5 Stars and the DJ 10 Stars, love the DJ. The menu was short, «No Problem» «Big Problem» most of the items requested were not available at 7pm on a Friday night. Question What time does the «Kitchen Close». Very disappointing and it to 45 mintinues for half of the table to recieve their order and the other half 1hours. (sad face)
If it wasn’t for Tyrese, who did his best to make us happy by suggesting food on the menu that was their top seller which was limited in servings or not available. He provided complimentary Champagne cocktail to sooth the beast within «10 Disappoint Black Women» .
It a nice place for «After Dinner Social», not for Dinner!
Maybe Brunch or Lunch, Not Dinner!

Amazing portions, great service. Friendly waitresses.
Nice location, good music, good vibe in general, strong cocktails and the Afro-​Caribbean menu is impressive.

I came here on Memorial Day this year for a birthday brunch. It’s a really cute restaurant. When I came they had just opened so it wasn’t all the way put together, but I could see the potential and liked the décor. We had half of the restaurant reserved, and I was one of the first to arrive so we put our order in early. We waited about a half an hour for food and then the rest of the party put in their food — they literally waited about an hour and a half for food, I would have been so upset. The mimosas/​bellinis were well made, refilled promptly and the music was good. The waitress needed a quick lesson in friendliness & customer service, but she wasn’t rude or anything.
The food was good, and OK so I’m being a little easy on them because it was brand new when I went & is black owned. So shoot me!

I came here with a friend for Black Owned Restaurant Month. The first thing that struck me was the ambiance. The lights are so bright. It doesn’t feel anything like a restaurant. It may be because they were hosting one of those byob paint nights in one area of the restaurant. The seating set up was also weird. There are three somewhat separate areas, two of which are like raised stages with the third situated at ground level in between. Sometime in the middle of our meal, the lights went down and the Empire watch party began. It really felt like a random collection of people gathered to do random activities, all of which happened to be going on in the same space.
The house cocktail is not bad. Very sweet. It’s the type of drink I would have ordered at a club in college… or maybe on a beach somewhere.
Service was pretty disorganized. The waitress first gave us the wrong menu and then didn’t seem to know what was actually available to order. My second course came out after my third. I’m pretty sure she forgot about it until I asked for it. She was very nice and talked to someone to figure out the answers to our questions, but it seemed strange that she didn’t really know what was going on.
I ordered from the pre-​fixe menu. I had the suya (on the menu, it’s listed as suya chicken tenders, but apparently suya is a plate full of beef pieces), the caesar salad, the salmon with garlic sauce, and the red velvet cake. The suya was pretty good. The meat is a little tough, but the rub is delicious, especially when coupled with the fresh onion. The salad was very overdressed. I barely noticed that lettuce was involved. The dressing was good, but there was entirely too much of it. I really like the salmon. The creamy sauce on top was perfect. The rice and veggies served on the side were plain, but not bad. The red velvet cake was the star of the night. Three moist layers with perfect cream cheese frosting. Yum.
My friend ordered a la carte. She had the ngobo soup with fufu (I forgot what fufu is called on the menu, but it’s like a play-​doh ball of pounded yam). I didn’t try the soup because of the okra base– it’s a texture thing– but my friend said it was really good. I was excited to try fufu, even though it doesn’t really have a distinct taste.
I was glad to visit this restaurant in support of BORM, but it’s not quite my cup of tea. If someone else wanted to go, I’d be happy to go along, but I don’t think I would independently decide to visit again.

Came here with a friend who had a Groupon. I got the chicken fingers & fries. Fair warning if you aren’t into spicy foods: it’s a little hot. There was a blend on the fries that reminded me of something people I knew in NC had on their fries. I think they’d totally go crazy for this «small» plate at lunchtime (b/​c this was definitely not a small plate & this is not just skinny me saying that).
This venue looks like it would be very nice in the evenings for happy hour or the events they have here since décor is awesome. Our server was also extremely nice & her recommendation of the barbecue sauce was spot on with my meal since it had a sweet blend that complimented the chicken fingers (which I also loved since it had some quality chicken, nothing overcooked or icky tasting). The drink selections looked good, though I’m not a drinker & couldn’t tell you much about that nor how any drinks tasted since I didn’t have any. It’s closer to DUMBO or Downtown Brooklyn than Bed-​Stuy (where Groupon said they were); we’d return.

I went to Amarachi on the wrong day I guess. Before I left my house to have brunch, I called to make sure that they were open and no mention was made that there were two private events going on at the same time.
When I was seated, I thought that the restaurant was nice and that the menu items seemed delicious. After we ordered our food it took close to an hour for it to come out. I ordered the chicken and waffles, my friend ordered the crème curry (to her disappointment, they had no rice –_​_​_​-​) and my other friend ordered the salmon. When our food finally came out, I had a large waffle with 3 very small slivers of fried chicken breast and my friend had 3 shrimp with a few small pieces of chicken in here crème curry. Needless to say, we were disappointed that after waiting for a hour we didn’t even get a decent portion size.
After complaining, we found out that the crème curry was supposed to have 5 shrimp not 3 and that my waffle usually comes with more chicken. The owner was willing to work with us to make things right and after another short wait, our plates were made correctly.
When we were finally able to dive in, the food was delicious. I will definitely come back to give the restaurant another chance on a day when there aren’t multiple private events going on. I wish that we were told before we were seated that service was slow due to the events and that the menu was limited and that certain items aren’t available before we ordered.
