AllCar Rent-A-Car

I don’t know what the other reviews were complaining about. The price wad fair compared to the other rental places and I got a great car yo travel upstate for the weekend and it was a smooth reservation and return. Will definitely go again.

They rented me a car with two tires stripped completely bare. I suspected something was up with the car when it started hydroplaning in light rain on I-​95. Later that day, one of the tires completely blew out on a highway. Luckily the rental had a donut spare in the trunk.
When we were changing the tire on the side of the road, we saw that the other front tire was also completely stripped bare (metal threading showing underneath), ready to burst. We swapped out the donut with a new tire at Walmart. All in all, the blowout + getting a replacement took about a half a day worth of our time on our vacation outside of the city.
All Car Rent-​A-​Car didn’t seem too concerned with the blow out caused by their neglect. They reimbursed us for the cost of the tire, which seemed like the absolute least they could do, but the tail end of our vacation was ruined.
The manager at the time said the company would only allow her to credit us $ 100 for the trouble. They wouldn’t let us use the credit on our next couple rentals because we used one of their summer discount rates. Eventually, they (new manger now) denied that we had a credit. The $ 100 credit isn’t even a big deal, but the new manager has such a bad attitude that I don’t want to even deal with them anymore.
I always went to this location, even after the blowout, because the old manager was nice and personal compared to Enterprise. The current manager, Miriam, is overtly rude and quarrelsome without instigation and makes renting a terrible experience. I’m taking my business elsewhere now.

My car was broken and the dealership got me a rental for here.
The staff here was EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. Most the people didn’t know what services they offered as such damage coverage (like the costs and if it’s primary or secondary coverage) and what cars they offered. EVERYONE was eating and working both times I came here, one woman was blatantly just doing her personal work at her job while everyone kept asking her questions.
Once I found a piece of paper that someone was using as a food tray I asked to look at it understand the insurance costs and coverage.
This place was like the opposite of Enterprise Car Rentals. As soon as I pulled in to return the car another customer ran up and asked if I was returning the rental and apparently they kept him waiting there for 2 hours and when they promised him a car they put it for a Oil Change he the ran up to me and begged them to take the car I just rented without cleaning because he was running so late to his meeting. He was furious they weren’t just transparent about the time frames, he could have made alternate plans or gone to another car rental.
There was no clear leadership nor anyone really checking in on customer satisfaction.
The only reason why I didn’t give a 1 was because the drivers that picked me up and off were extremely talkative and made the trip to from the dealership fly by.
Otherwise for the cost of the rental is the same between both, but insurance and services are cheaper and less restrictive at Enterprise than Allcar and more PROFESSIONAL employees at Enterprise as well.
Avoid if you can.
— BTW I only compare it to Enterpise because they are down the street and dealership used them before. I’ve only used in Airport car rental companies, but either was Allcar ranked the lowest.

Great service! Military discount received. Clean 15 passenger van worked as designed. Would have given a 5 star rating if the drivers mirror did not fall off when I shut the door but not really their fault as the previous driver broke it and taped it in place. Great price at solved my dilemma of moving a large group of relatives to a wedding.

Alright, there a couple competing experiences with my recent rental, but overall I was pretty happy.
Let’s start with the bad. At the last minute I needed to rent a car to go from Brooklyn to Connecticut. To make matters worse, it was Mother’s Day weekend. There was not a single ZipCar or Hertz On Demand car to be had, so I had to turn to the dreaded rental car world, which is even more horrific in NYC.
I don’t really believe in credit cards. I have one card with a limit of $ 300 that I only use every once and a while. Of course, in order to rent a car at most places you need to have a credit card and they typically need to charge you an astronomical deposit, hence why I NEVER rent a car. All Car Rent A Car is different though — they offer a few different options for paying the deposit. You can either pay the deposit by cash, by debit card, or by credit card. Now, the deposit is much higher for cash and debit card than it would be for credit card, but that’s fine by me. You get it back after all.

OK, no cars to be had, blah blah blah. My BF recommended this company, I looked online, it said they had cars available. Great! The online reservation was easy. I wake up the next morning and figure it can’t hurt to confirm, so I call them up. The nice representative calmly informs me that they don’t have my reservation. Uh oh. Well, she transfers me to the actual location and they state that while they don’t have the reservation (yes, I had a confirmation # and everything), they did have another car I could rent. Kicker is it was a premium car. I probably could have gotten the standard rate, but hey it’s just a few bucks difference and I’m a push-​over.
So, I luckily got a car. They were able to have it ready for me in 30 minutes from my call. I got a very nice car, a full tank of gas, and no other problems. The staff at the location were super nice and professional as well.
So yes, they lost my reservation somewhere, but the positives outweighed that:
1. Don’t need a credit card to rent.
2. Easy online reservation system (def. call to confirm though!)
3. Great staff
4. Nice and clean car
5. Reasonable rates, if not comparatively cheap
