I was craving West Indian food, and I was thinking of driving to Richmond Hill to get my fix. However, I realized there places right here in my neighborhood, so I looked on Unilocal, and another place came up. I drove down Fulton street, focusing on going to the other place, until I saw the sign for Alice. I parked my car on Norwood, walked past the other place, and went to Alice. There was no one inside the restaurant except a lady waiting for her take out order and a guy standing near the counter drinking a beer. The dining area is a decent size, however I ordered take out for my first time. I decided to try the house special fried rice. I was also tempted to try the black pudding, but when I asked the worker what they added to the pudding, I decided not to get it. The plus, they make their own black pudding. The negative, the filling is rice. This should not be called black pudding if there is no meat in it. Anyways, my order took about 10 minutes. When arrived home, I opened the container, and the food smelled really great. There was a good mix of meats(chicken, roast pork). There was also baby shrimp in the fried rice. Overall, this fried is okay. It tastes fine, but there is definitely a lot of five-spice in it. It reminds more of a Vietnamese dish than a West Indian one. What I didnt’t was the meat was not mixed into the rice. The rice was made and the meat was put on top. Nonetheless, the price is more reasonable than prices in Richmond Hill($ 9 here vs $ 10-$ 13 in RH). The food is okay, but I have had better. I may go back because it is convenient, and I may try another dish.
