I seldom write reviews, but in this case I will definitely let it be known. Adrian Grooming Barbershop is by far the best haircut experience I’ve ever had. I’ve lived in many cities throughout the world and would say without a doubt, that this barbershop is THE BEST. Yes the haircuts start at $ 40, but believe me when I say it is worth the money. Before coming here I was paying $ 25 per week at other barbershops. However since going to Adrain Grooming Barbershop the haircuts last two weeks anyways, so it all balances out. Not too mention how you are greeted when arriving and being offered a beverage of your choice including a glass of champagne. Again trust me coming from someone who is very picky about barbershops, these barbers are the best

I’ve got thick, curly hair. I have a really hard time finding a place that can cut my hair right. I was so glad to find Adrian! Without a doubt, Adrian is the best in the city. Possibly the best haircut I’ve ever had. He’s also a really great guy! Enjoyed hanging out and chatting with him. Highly recommended.

They BLESSED me. Specifically, Autumn gave me one of the top five best fades of my life. Straight up. As I was in the chair, looking around at the other barbers servicing their clients, I realized that I could have sat in any chair that afternoon and walked away amazing haircut. What’s more, the environment at the shop is this cool blend of upscale and professional yet homely and down to earth. Yes, you will pay a little more than your average shop but if you have the extra cash to spend, it’s well worth it.

For a while now I’ve been in love with my dread locs and even though I thought I wanted to keep them forever, life is filled with changes. A little skeptical about the drastic switch, I knew I needed to find the perfect environment to put my butterflies at ease. Adrian Fanus Grooming was number one on my list and after a reassuring phone conversation, I decided to go let them work their magic. And magic they did. From the time I walked in and was handed a glass of mimosa I knew I was going to walk out of there happy. Love the atmosphere. I felt so comfortable. I didn’t think I would’ve been this excited to rock my hair but I’m looking forward to this new journey. You’re amazing Troy! Everyone loves my new look!!!

Adrian is by far the best of the best. I have known this guy since 2010 during the Haiti earthquake. Adrian went above and beyond to put together «Haiti food Drive» to assist the people affected in Haiti. When I find out about it, I quickly reached out to him to let him know that I was interested in giving back because I am Haitian as well. I came in to the shop and brought all materials with me that needed to be donated. On that day, the first thing he said to me was «please come by the shop and I will cut your first hair cut for free». I took him for his word and since I never left. I always come to Adrian Grooming because when you’re here, Adrian made sure that you get the celebrity touch. You don’t have to be a celebrity to feel like one. Adrian would go the extra mile to meet his clients expectations. Throughout the years Adrian has renovated and remodeled the shop. HANDS DOWN BEST GROOMERS IN NYC!!!
Since I’ve started wearing my hair short many, many years ago I never wanted to go to a «barbershop» to get it cut. Simply put, I’m a lady and I wanted to stay clear of the «barbershop» shenanigans. Well, I have found my home at Adrian Fanus! There is NOTHING typical about this amazing place — from the amazing lady that greats you at the door, to the outstanding complimentary drink list { to that special mimosa}, to the entire ambiance of the establishment and I shall not forget THE COLDEST groomers in NYC. Adrian is my groomer, but they’re all DOPE!
If you want quality and service, and a place you can call home for 30 minutes or so — make Adrian Fanus Grooming that place!!!

I’ve been coming to AFG since December 2012, 3 years now and must say its changed my view of what a barber shop in Brooklyn can and should look and feel like. Not only do you get an experience not afforded to you at many other shops in the neighborhood but every one is friendly, courteous and respectful.
For the first 2 and a half years Adrian, the shop owner, was my barber. He’s modest but he’s done a great job with my hair and not only just cutting it, also helping me grow it, texturize when it was necessary and style it. You can see the growth process in my various profile pictures. As of lately, Autumn has been taking care of me due to my schedule change but honestly all the barbers here are great. I’ve had my hair cut by each of them at least once.
The shops is nicely decorated, clean and well kept. I do also enjoy the complimentary cocktails. FeeFee mixes an awesome cocktail and is a very attentive receptionist. Definitely check out the shop if you want an experience that’s hard to find in Brooklyn.

AFG goes beyond and above what you would expect in a barber, it’s not just styling, it’s **GROOMING.** Had a fantastic experience and don’t regret surrendering my inhibitions about going shorter than I would have: Adrian will advise you well, and his judgement is to be trusted, because somehow Adrian just knows what you need. I got my Chai Tea too, so I couldn’t be more pleased. Thank you Adrien and Team, I will come again, and can only recommend to anyone reading this. Go on already, you won’t find a better barber.
To the lovely receptionist who is going vegetarian! (And anyone else looking for a delicious, healthy lunch after you get your haircut.) I went to Govinda’s Vegetarian Restaurant today and the food was as good as described on Unilocal here

My experience started from the moment I made the call to schedule my appointment. At the time I left a message on their voicemail, but less than 10 minutes later I got a call back. I scheduled my appt for ¹⁰⁄₃₀ at 9am. I immediately felt welcomed the minute I walked in. Adrian was warm and made me feel extremely comfortable… Mind you my nerves were kind of on edge since I was doing the big chop! (I cut my locs off)… Adrian was extremely professional. Him and his staff were simply lovely! Thank you again for helping start a new chapter in my life!

No matter what style i’m rocking or where I’m living, I’m very protective of my hair and who does it. I have been going to a barber on Flatbush for about a year and was in the mood to find a new barber that worked better with my schedule.
I googled «best barbers in Brooklyn» and lo and behold AFG came up in the search results and I have to say they lived up to all the amazing reviews that I read online.
Vince was my barber and he was amazing! He was professional, polite, and was genuinely interested in my needs/​wants for my hair. I was in and out of the salon in about 30 minutes (Great timing!). It was also nice because I went to the salon today, on a tuesday, and had the salon all to myself!
I must add that although the outside can be a little misleading, the inside (they’re located on the 3^rd floor) was very clean, open, and had a nice relaxing feel. I’d def recommend AFG to my friends.

Even though I’ve lived in Boston since 2008, this will ALWAYS be my preferred place for haircuts/​grooming. I’ve been working with Adrian since around 2002, when AFG was a vision in his mind that we discussed during my weekly Saturday morning haircuts. There are so many things to love about AFG, and I’ll share a few things I love about the AFG experience below:
1) Professionalism — this is more than a typical barbershop. The folks on the AFG team are stylists and they take their craft and the atmosphere they create very seriously. Sure, one gets some of the banter that is popular in traditionally black barbershops, but it’s accompanied by a sense of professional decorum that is emblematic of a high-​end salon. From a waiting room that features beverages, televisions, and couches to the always impeccably clean floors, this is a place whose owner sweats the details. I appreciate that.
2) Style — Alluded to above, the barbers are truly stylists. They consult with clients to understand their needs and wants but they also encourage clients to explore new looks that might be unfamiliar. For example, Adrian has been telling for years that I should try «twists.» I was hesitant because I work in corporate settings. However, he found a slightly more conservative version that looks AMAZING.
3) Grooming advice — For many men, the rise of magazines like Details, services like Birchbox Men, and blogs like the Art of Manliness have been very welcome resources to our body of knowledge. However, for black men, there has been a dearth of consolidated information, advice, and product guidance with regard to various grooming topics. AFG is helping fill that void with the offer of products (e.g., I purchased a sponge brush and some hair crème to use with my new cut/​style.) I think of AFG’s brand in the same category of emerging black brands like those backed by Tristan Walker.
All-​in-​all, I love the way that I can always get a great cut, a relaxing experience, and top quality grooming advice at AFG. I will make an extra effort to swing by the shop whenever I am in NYC on business or there for fun.

AFG is great because it’s more than a barbershop, it’s an experience.
I recently started going to AFG for my haircuts. The barbers are extremely professional, stylish, and personable. Scheduling an appointment is easy and painless, when I arrive upon each visit, I am greeted with either wine, or water. My barber Vince goes out of his way to accommodate me during every visit. Vincent makes each visit to AFG a memorable experience.
I would certainly recommend to anyone looking for a barber.

This review is very late — I’ve been going to AFG exclusively since the fall of 2014 and have nothing but positive things to say. I almost never write reviews unless they’re negative, but I feel compelled to do so in this case. I’ve lived in NYC for 15 years and simply put, all my best cuts have come from Autumn at AFG. I’ve also seen the work of the other barbers there — it’s all top notch.
They’re very involved in the community, highly professional and will go out of their way to make sure you’re comfortable and satisfied. These guys are masters at their trade and always looking to improve.
I would certainly recommend them to anyone looking for a barber.

Saw a sister with a fly frohawk waking down the street in LES a year ago when I needed a new barber. Finding a barber who cuts with a sense of women’s agency — taking time to consult us about our desires — and who can add a feminine flair to the clipper style has been difficult given the patriarchal culture of most barbershops.
I found and then lost a great barber and hair colorist just days before a major public talk. Decided to try AFG because their website looks professional and the celebs they’ve cut meant they had some credibility. I called Sabine’s in BKLYN and they couldn’t fit me in and it was going to be pricey. They referred be to some shady lady and I thought I’d better go pro not low. More established than anonymous. So a year later I came here and AFG did not disappoint.
The receptionist is lovely. They got me in the day I called. They accommodated my every need. And Vince hooked me up with a beautiful cut with the best chair-​side manner, touch and hair care incl product referrals.
The spot seems not all that from street level but when you enter you realize this is a great salon experience with ambiance, beautiful artwork, and professional attire with individual flairs. All the barbers, male and female, were dressed in biz casual with a tie. And the owner is very engaging and charming.
They offer you water. Have two waiting areas. Are very attentive. And the price point is well worth the trip. I was in and out in a reasonable time for Sat. The cost is a little more than an ordinary shop but far lower than any beauty salon for locks, extensions or perms, ladies. Plus the clientele who were there are handsome and friendly and the spot feels both upscale and yet real meaning communal.
I’m picky and judgmental especially about a new place. This grooming salon is everything I wanted and more! I asked that they put more pics of women especially sistas with 4c hair on their website. They were very appreciative of the feedback. They ended the visit by offering to take a few professional photos of my ‘do – which I loved. A few shots alone and with my new barber Vince. They sent me the photos by email. They take cash and credit. Enjoy! Highly recommend AFG.
