We specialize in offering an integrative experience of Hatha yoga. A wide range of styles and traditions with a common goal are sure to inspire each and every student. Classes draw influence from Vinyasa, Anusara, Dance, Iyengar, Chi-​Gong, Yin Yoga, Restorative, Ayurveda, power yoga, and more. All classes are taught by highly skilled teachers who seek to integrate heart, mind and body through alignment based, heart– oriented asana, chanting, breath work, and contemplation. There are a wide range of exciting and creative offerings at Abhaya, including meditation, yoga asana classes with live music, therapeutic classes, prenatal, mommy and me kids yoga and workshops with internationally recognized teachers, philosophy, and kirtan.

Abhaya offers RYS 200 & 500 Hour Teacher Training.

Abhaya Yoga School is a community oriented yoga center that is committed to honoring the traditional roots of yoga while embracing a modern, accessible approach. The various styles of yoga and healing modalities are offered with a non-​dogmatic perspective allowing students to find their own way to freedom. The culture of Abhaya Yoga encourages humility, studentship, and a high value on yoga education. It is a place where like-​minded students of yoga and life gather to share the great conversation and transformative practice of yoga.

Finding the expansive, light-​filled space in DUMBO inspired her to settle down and build a community. She takes only partial credit in the creation of Abhaya, as it was a group effort that brought the studio and community to life.

Business Owner

Tara Glazier founded Abhaya Yoga in 2010 after a lifetime of professional dance, teaching ballet, and freelancing as a NYC yoga teacher. Finding the expansive, light-​filled space in DUMBO inspired her to settle down and build a community. She takes only partial credit in the creation of Abhaya, as it was a group effort that brought the studio and community to life.

Tara had an early start to her career in movement and dance and moved away from home at 15 to attend North Carolina School of the Arts. Directly to follow high school, she was chosen as an apprentice with the Hartford Ballet and continued into the University program. After completing a BFA in Dance Pedagogy from the University of Hartford/​Hartt School, Tara moved to NYC to pursue a modern dance career. It was in NYC where she fell deeply in love with yoga and spirituality and began her studies: Jivamukti, Atmananda (200 hr Yoga Alliance Certified), and Anusara.
