24 Hr Greenpoint Exterminators

Worst ever! Technician lied about my apartment having rats and cancelled on my follow up appointment three times. Charged me $ 150 for the first visit and was going to charge me another $ 125 for the «follow up» that thank god never happened. I called Esquire exterminators and they did such a great job for half the price.

I called on Friday to ask for an inspection. I was told there were no Saturday slots available, but was offered between 9a-​12p on Sunday. I happily took the slot, figuring that even if they came at 12, I’d still be out in plenty of time to make a 1:30 appointment in Bushwick.
On Sunday, I received a call from the technician at 11:30 telling me he’d be at my apartment by 12 noon. At 12:10, with no sign of him, I called and was told he’d be there in two minutes. Five minutes later he called and told me it would be another 30 – 45 minutes (so he wouldn’t even arrive until at least 1p). I told him I could not work around a 1p arrival and that I would call the main office to reschedule.
The main office was kind and apologetic, and offered me a later window of 5−7p that same night. At 7:20, after receiving zero communication from anyone, I called the main office to learn that they were still running behind, with an apology. After acknowledging that I’d spent 6 hours of my day waiting, I was told I’d get a call back in 5 minutes to straighten out the problem.
One hour later, after receiving no call, I called the main line once again. This time I received a voicemail greeting. I left a message stating that after spending the greater part of my day waiting with no communication, I would be taking my business elsewhere.
Twenty minutes after that, I received a call from the technician (who for some reason blocked caller ID), once again apologizing and offering to schedule an appointment for the following day. I informed him that I had no time that day, and that after multiple chances to communicate clearly with me and not doing so, the business has lost my trust.
Though everyone was very polite when I spoke with them, the fact of the matter is that I continually restructured my schedule to accommodate a service that never transpired. A call to inform me of the perpetual scheduling snafus would have gone a long way.
I prefer to support local businesses, so it saddens me to give these guys one star.

I called them this morning (on a Sunday of Memorial Day weekend) and Jason called me back a few minutes later and fit me in within the next hour. He told me on the phone that the inspection cost $ 85 but if treatment was needed then the inspection fee would be included in the treatment. He gave me a range of 10:30AM to 11AM and his technician Joe showed up promptly at 10:35AM. Joe was polite, very knowledgeable and identified and treated the problem quickly. He took the time to explain to us what he was doing and why and the next step for us if the treatment for some reason did not work b/​c the bugs were resistant. He charges $ 175 to spray my kitchen, bathroom and neighboring walls. Terminex was going to charge $ 225. Also, each subsequent visit is $ 50 whereas with Terminex it would have been $ 125. They also offered the pesticide gel as the next step which in all our research that has been the best way to treat it, but not necessary until the spray does not work. Also, Orkin and Terminex would not offer a guarantee. This company stands by their work and said they would continue to come back until the problem was solved. I cannot speak for the effectiveness of the treatment yet as it typically takes 2 weeks or so for all the bugs to die and the poison to get into the colony, but in terms of professionalism and promptness, this company definitely gets 5 stars from me!
