I used to go to Kathy on a weekly basis back in 2010⁄2011. Kathy was recommended to me by a family member whose friend had seen her. I had a wonderful time seeing Kathy — she was kind, professional and knowledgable. Her office is conveniently located and she has two rooms for acupuncture. You will have an initial consultation with her($ 125) and then every other session was $ 75. Kathy explained to me some basics of Chinese medicine and acupuncture(importance of tongue, the different pulses, etc.). She also performs gua sha and chinese cupping. Often Kathy would do a few minutes of Chinese cupping on my back at the end of a session to help release tension. If you have never done Chinese cupping — do not fear, you will look like an ocotopus attacked you! The more tension in your back, the darker the red circles(from the capillaries breaking up, the bruises do not hurt) will be. However, once Kathy was doing the cupping on a weekly basis, the circles lightened up indicating tension was being released. Chinese cupping can get into the deeper layers of muscle due to the suction of the cup(she doesn’t do fire cupping but uses a pump for suction) I have scoliosis and back problems, so this was a great extra treat. She also will use a Chinese soup spoon to perform gua sha which felt great and really got into the deep tissue. The acupuncture was great and I often fell asleep. I’d leave there feeling very relaxed and calm. Also, she prescribed me some herbal medicine, so Kathy is knowledgable about Chinese herbs as well. I was worried it would hurt but it doesn’t! I even had needles in my face — cute, eh?! However, sometimes there is a weird«zing» when the needles first go in. If there is any discomfort, always tell the provider. I would definitely go back to Kathy!
