OSAKA Japanese Sushi & Steak House

I went here for my birthday and it was amazing! When we first came in we saw that it was very clean, which my family always likes. We were greeted by the lovely staff and they had seated us at our own table– they did not seat us with strangers because we made reservations. Me, my mom and grandma all ordered Chicken Teriyaki, Veggies and Fried Rice. While, my Grandfather ordered Beef Teriyaki with Veggies and Brown rice. We were greeted by a delightful young chef. We started off by a fire which was very big and huge and super cool. Then the chef started Juggiling His utensils which was a little loud but still entertain full. Next he started making a onion volcano which had a bit of fire (lava). Then he started making the food and it looked amazing. Then out of nowhere he started throwing Zucchini at us and we all laughed! It was so funny and cool! Then he started to sprinkle water at us and my mom was squirming in her seat. We then received our food and we were amazed. Good Job Osaka! The food was ¹⁰⁄₁₀

Each entrée is supposed to come with a miso soup/​salad, where the blank is ours, after a 20 min. wait and the table behind us arrived later, already got their soups, its excruciating to sit here.
Samurai Roll had arrived in place of our salmon lover, ridiculous. At least they said
We’d still get our salmon lover but now im stuffed and our waiter came back twice to clear the plates off the tables 10 minutes ago and he kept reassuring us that itd be coming soon, were still waiting.
Another 5 minutes later,
3^rd times the charm
Finally finished our 1.5 hour dinner.

The food here is consistently very good BUT the service has been disappointing. Our server was rude, tried to kick us out 30 minutes before the closing time, and didn’t talk to us in an appropriate tone.
This is unacceptable for a restaurant to treat their customers and has happened more than once!

We had reservation on Saturday, 4:45pm and seated right away. This restaurant also has private rooms.
It was nice to find a street parking near the restaurant.
It was standard hibachi dinner, nothing special. I had scallop dinner and my husband had shrimp dinner. I wish they could have served sauteed zucchini. The dishes were seasoned right, not too salty.
The performance of chef ended very short and was clumsy. I have been to better hibachi restaurants.

We had a very nice time last Saturday at Osaka. We have lots of sushi places in our immediate area but the combination of good strong cocktails, tasty, fresh and beautifully presented sushi, lively atmosphere and reasonable prices made Osaka a perfect choice for our group and worth the drive and parking search. Service was good. I booked through open table and we were seated right away. The staff is friendly and we were not rushed.
An added, unexpected bonus was the downstairs lounge with full bar and free karaōke. Pretty basic but was fun and very convenient. I’m sure most patrons were college students, unlike ourselves, but it was still a good place for a few close friends to have some laughs over a beer, bust a couple moves and showcase our terrible voices– all while keeping the same parking spot we lucked out on. We will be back.

First, after repeating my hibachi order of chicken and filet mingon, twice, I only received the beef. They did bring out a dish of chicken afterwards, which was okay. We went there to celebrate my son’s graduation from Boston University and chose to sit at the hibachi table for the show. The hibachi chef forgot to perform most of the antics which all the other chefs performed. Very disappointing! The food was good but there was no ‘show’.

Atrocious reservations/​seating situation with visibly confused staff not making it particularly better, but eventually, once we got our table, the sushi was quite good! Not the best around, but somewhat reasonably priced, and there was nothing to complain about. The yellowtail jalapen~o rolls are very good and some very good simple sushi options, tuna, salmon, yellowtail. Good option for sushi in the neighborhood!

My friend and I came to this restaurant for Restaurant Week, and while the food was decent (she had the hibatchi, I had the sushi), it was our interaction with the service which knocked this down to one stars.
My friend is allergic to shellfish, but she can eat fish. Normally, this is not a problem at sushi restaurants because when she tells the waiter, they can instruct the chefs to keep their shellfish and fish separate during preparation. It is not a life-​threatening issue, but it does make her very sick.
So we arrive at the restaurant and ask for a table. Despite tables being available, they direct us to the hibachi area. We were okay with this, at first, and ordered a scorpion bowl. It tasted terrible, by the way, just OVERPOWERED with alcohol.
When the waiter came to take our orders, my friend informed him about her allergy. He seemed confused and hostile, and straight up asked her why she even came to this restaurant if she couldn’t eat shellfish. She said that she was going to get the steak hibachi. All she needed was that her food didn’t touch any of the shellfish on the grill. She added that if this was not possible, she would be willing to order something else.
The waiter basically told us to tell this to the hibachi chef, and he would be able to take care of it.
The hibachi chef came out after our appetizers and started cooking. I’ve been to hibachi a few times before, and the chefs were always personable and funny. This one rushed through his work and barely made eye contact with any of us. When my friend spoke up about her situation, she was told, rudely and loudly, that it «wasn’t his responsibility». The chef then went on to cook everyone’s food together, which included shrimp and lobster. Thus my friend couldn’t even eat the food that she ordered.
Anyway, maybe it was a good thing their drinks were so strong.

I came here for restaurant week. We called ahead of time to see if we could make a reservation, but we were told because we were a party of two that we wouldn’t need it.
We arrive at 7pm and it was PACKED. Although I understand that, I find it a little frustrating that we couldn’t make a reservation even though we called ahead.
Regardless, the food was quite good. The drinks were mediocre (we got the scorpion bowl), but we can’t complain for the deal we got with restaurant week. I ate the rock shrimp, had the sashimi and two roll sets, and for dessert got the mochi.
Overall, I think it was quite good but I wouldn’t come here just for sushi again — definitely come here for the hibachi though. It looked amazing. It was a shame we couldn’t get a seat.

My family and I celebrated my sister’s birthday at Osaka last month. I have eaten here twice before and had decent experiences. This time was another repeat, just A-​OK in my book.
The hibachi dinner is pricey ($ 19 – 31) considering what you get:
* a small portion of your choice of meat, though it did taste pretty good
* a big portion of filler items: overly salty fried rice and sautéed veggies
* a small «salad» that consisted of just iceberg lettuce in miso dressing, nothing else
* a mediocre hibachi show — very brief knife tricks demo and a puny flaming onion tower. Although our chef did do the food toss with everyone in our party, he didn’t bother to engage anyone with the typical sake/​water shooting. His personality was pretty boring compared to other hibachi chefs I’ve seen before.
We also ordered some appetizers and makis to share. The only thing that stood out was the Dancing Roll because of the unique peanut sauce flavor. Don’t get the Amazing Roll, which featured «kamikaze wasabi» (wasabi relish?) that was unpalatable even for wasabi fans.
Since it was my sister’s birthday, Osaka comped her entrée and provided complimentary mochi dessert, which was a pretty sweet gesture. In the end, this is not my first choice for dinner and/​or celebrations but I wouldn’t mind coming back.

We were visiting Boston for the weekend and this was on the spots that we checked out. We made reservations on a Saturday night maybe an hour before the reservation time and we were accommodated. We arrived and were asked to wait for the table to be cleaned off and escorted downstairs to the bar area. Lively place — really good music, drinks and it was just a good vibe.
We waited downstairs for maybe 10 minutes and then our buzzer went off. We were seated at a Standard hibachi table. Ordered and then it was time for the show. Super interactive cook and we all had a good time. The food was great proportions for Hibachi (which sometimes can be kind of scarce). Overall the food was excellent in my opinion. I got a lot for my money and it was really tasty !
One thing I will say is our server wasn’t super attentive which really helps in a hibachi setting was the food isn’t brought out by them so if you have any concerns you kind of have to wait for them to pop back up. Besides the server everything went really smooth and it was a standard hibachi experience. Very tasty and worth the $$.
*If you’re visiting and in the mood for hibachi I would definitely advise you to check this place out. I doubt you’ll be disappointed.

I’m so disappointed as I have held 3 birthday events at Osaka that were fantastic, unfortunately when I held my partner’s 30^th birthday on 2÷6÷16 it was some of the worst service I have ever had. Not only were we sat 20 minutes late for an 8:30pm reservation, but the servers were rude.
Half of the table wasn’t seated as they started taking the order for dinner, not drinks. Then we were all given our proteins before the veggies and rice.
One thing that is usually very fun is when the chef sprays sake in people’s mouths. However, tonight they were spraying Sprite and ginger ale in and on us, not sake. This was a horrible experience and I am embarrassed and infuriated that I brought 24 people here for dinner.
Last, but not least, they brought out the bday dessert while he was still eating dinner! Clearly I am furious and this is the last time I will be eating here.

I’ve been looking for a really good japanese steak house for a long time & I finally found it. This place has amazing sushi, especially the Tomo Roll & the Dancing Dragon Roll. I’ve been to many good sushi restaurants before, but this place is my new favorite for sushi. Also, the hibachi is good here too. I got the chicken hibachi dinner and i love the fried rice it comes with! The staff is friendly here as well. And this place is really spacious and nicely decorated. In the basement, they have a lounge with a bar and kareoke.

My school (we’re a bunch of BPS teachers) decided to go to Osaka for our holiday party yesterday (Thursday). We called 3 times to confirm that 1 it was okay that a group of us were coming and 2 that we would be able to use the downstairs room for karaōke. We offered to make a deposit to hold the room, asked for confirmation in writing that we’d be able to be accommodated. We called a totally of 3 times to confirm and were brushed off and made to think we were over planning– «oh yes yes yes no problem we can seat your group. Karaōke will be available for you all»
Lies.
We showed up and ate. Food was alright. Not great, but alright. Then we asked if we could transition to the bar/​karaōke space downstairs (we had finished dinner). We were told that karaōke didn’t start until 9pm. It was 730pm. No problem– we decided to stay and drink until 9pm. Our server stopped coming to serve us drinks, even though we were still drinking. So we went to the downstairs bar. We knew karaōke didn’t start, but figured we would drink there until karaōke. Then we were told that the downstairs bar was closed for a private event. And they wouldn’t let us go back to our room.
SO we went to Coolidge Corner Pub to get a beer and figured we would go back at 9pm (at this point it’s 8pm) for karaōke. We stayed at the other bar until about 930pm. We called Osaka to ask if we would be able to do karaōke. «karaōke is not open to the public tonight because we have a private party».
They totally deceived us to get us in the door, knowing full well they were screwing us over. Toyally fucked up our holiday party. Not to mention the fact that we had asked to rent that same exact room months in advance. If you couldn’t accommodate us, you should have said so. Not lie to get us on the door bc all you cared about what our money.
I won’t be going back, won’t be recommending you to anyone. What kind of establishment dicks a bunch of elementary school teachers around during their holiday party?

Oh my goodness… I don’t even know how much I can express my gratitude and sincere thanks to Osaka and the workers who work so hard to give their customers a good time :)
I did a 6pm reservation on my birthday at the hibachi section with a group of 6! The server immediately and kindly came to us as she told us she will split our checks. That was an awesome start. The interior and decoration is very nice there, and the hibachi guy was HILARIOUS! He made the entire group laugh and engaged with us, throwing broccoli in our mouths, squirting water, etc!
We ordered the shrimp, salmon, steak, chicken! I know– pretty much everything. Very well cooked!
We shared the LOVE BOAT which had 30 pieces in total and it was SUCH a beautiful design!
The lotus flower drink was BOMB. It was so big too– it tasted like strawberry juice and my friend definitely got tipsy from that early on xD
And the server gave me a surprise birthday gift of ICE CREAM MOCHI OMG OMG SO DELICIOUS. I went insane!!!
AND IF THAT WASN’T AN AMAZING NIGHT already— OUR WONDERFUL SERVER TOOK OF THE STEAK IN OUR BILL. THE MOST EXPENSIVE MEAT HOLY MOLY HOW ARE YOU SO KIND?!? Our group was so flabbergasted… Wow. Seriously, wow. I have never been so thankful. Thank you waiter so much. Osaka– you da bomb.

What a fun time this was. Great engaging and talented hibachi chefs. The portion sizes are huge and the food is definitely on point. The staff is very studious. This is the perfect place for a large group/​family.

This place is huge! If you’re doing hibachi for dinner it is best to make a reservation, even on a weeknight. The menu is pretty large, as it contains all of the hibachi options, sushi, and other meal choices. The cocktails are all $ 9 and a glass of wine is $ 6 — $ 9. Very reasonable. The hibachi for one prices range from $ 19 to about $ 30. A little steep, but you’re paying for the experience. Like at many hibachi places, that price also includes a salad. Each hibachi meal comes with the meat of your choice, fried rice, and mixed vegetables. The portion was big and most of the people in my party did not finish their meals.
There is a bar downstairs you can wait in of your table is not ready. I was going to do that, but there was some sort of video game event going on while I was there… Check their website as this may be a regular thing.

I came in on a Saturday around 3:30. They were open for lunch but no one was really there. I wanted to sit at the sushi bar but was diverted to the large booth. I was by myself.
I had observed that my water glass was dirty before the waitress arrived. she was about to pour me some water when I told her what was wrong and she seemed highly shocked.
She was very sweet though. The only thing I really didn’t care for was that she didn’t bother to let me know that she was no longer my server and that the shift had changed. This guy came out and asked for the check. He was standing less then 5 feet away from me waiting to see when I was going to be done with it. I still had. Not finished the martini that I ordered. (I originally ordered a lemon drop but they seem to be missing some ingredients so I had to switch my order) I ordered the hibachi shrimp. Several shrimp still had the excrement attached. BTW, It was rather crispy to taste… eww.

Get the Hibachi because the chefs at Osaka seriously know how to put on a show! As soon as we ordered, we were treated to a spectacular display of juggling, with knives, kitchen utensils, eggs and literally anything that the chef could get his hands on. As our food was cooked, we had cooked zucchini tossed into our mouths from across the table, in addition to a Saki fountain.
The food was cooked to perfection and made with high quality ingredients. This place is so fun, I can’t recommend it highly enough!

My friends recommended the Tomo Roll ($ 16.95, 8 pieces). Love, love, love it. It exceeded my expectations with its spicy crunchy salmon and mango topped with seared salmon, white tuna, avocado and crispy rice powder and honey wasabi sauce. I think it took me almost 40 min to eat 8 pcs because I was savoring every. single. bite. Finger lickin’ Deliciousness.
The hibachi is pretty good although I haven’t been to many places to compare. I would recommend not wearing anything nice. It’s kind of like Korean BBQ. You end up leaving smelling like the food you just ate. I usually get the Hibachi Salmon ($ 22.95?). It’s served with house salad in a bowl, vegetables, fried rice, and of course the salmon. The fried rice is pretty yummy but also tastes like it is doused in butter. For proportions, the rice took up half of the plate and the veggies and salmon each take about a quarter of the plate.
Service is excellent!
