Glad I seeked this one out, Irish through and through. While visiting Boston was hoping to find a nice pub walking distance from the Hyatt regency in Cambridge where I was staying. Upon walking in I immediatly loved the rustic ambiance. So I took a seat at the bar in amongst the locals and got sucked in pretty quickly to their funny banter in no time I felt like a regular. But, the best part was the awesome beef stew recommend by the wife part of the owner team. She was so nice with a thick Irish accent. After the homemade bread and fresh salad she slid this bowl of steaming stew in front of me. It had a scoop of mashed potatoes on top spinkled with chives. It looked so good and it was delicious! I left with a full belly and some good memories for my calorie burning walk back.

Used to go here for liquid lunches sometimes. This place was a great place to get a nice pint of Guinness and the food was always good.

While visiting in Boston I was trying to find a truly authentic Irish Pub. I have found one! The décor and everything about it scream authenticity. The Owner/Bartender behind the bar was great. The food good overall. I had their Potato Skins which were great. If ever in Boston again would not mind a quick visit.

Love this place! Went to try the new place Waxy’s down the street and when the bartender was completely clueless we left after a beer and went to O’Leary’s to eat. Definitely Irish pub fare with a bit of a divey feel(which I happen to love). We ate at the bar, the Chicken pot pie was great and the bartender was super nice and quick. Plus they already had the Celtics playoff game on so we didn’t have to ask to change the channel(like we did at Waxy’s and they did not do), extra points! Guy next to me had fish and chips that I will definitely be ordering next time. They also had live music!

Great little Irish pub! Good beer and cocktail selections. I got the fish and chips, and they were a large portuon but very good. The rest of the food looked just as good if not better. I sat at the bar and talked with the bartender and staff, and a group of locals in the back. It was a very friendly place and had a great time I’m definitely returning!

I’ve always been a fan of O’Leary’s, so it’s going to be sad when it closes, because Waxy’s is going to eat O’Leary’s for lunch.(Waxy O’Connors is opening soon just down the street) So I go into O’Learys on a recent Sat night, and sit at the bar… I don’t see a bartender for about 10 minutes. he finally shows up and pours a beer for someone else, clears the plates of the couple next to me, and walks away. I asked if the kitchen was open, he said no and walked away. I sat at the bar for a solid ½ hour, enjoying the band that was playing, but was never asked once if I would like a beer. I would have stayed, the band was really good, but this bartender is clueless about how to keep patrons happy, or on how to serve enough beverages that the bar actually makes a profit. I left to go get a beer somewhere else. I would have stayed, had maybe 2 or 3, but the service at O’Leary’s is clueless. I shouldn’t have to ask for a beer. The bartender walked by more than once and saw me sitting there with nothing in front of me, but kept on going… I’m Hoping Waxy’s has live music like O’Leary’s does.

One of the best pints of Guinness in Boston. Been a local favorite since I first found it in 2007. Staff is also phenomenal.

If you are not into this whole fancy gastropub scene but still want a place with great drinks and good food, this is your next stop. Came here for the first time after living near it for years. So cozy and so comfortable. Just sat down had some beers and we all got some great food. Seems like the food is «fresh» and not frozen. Nothing special but it’s decent food. Can set up shop here for hours.

Drinks are good, but not too many options for vegetarians for the food. I love their Baileys Irish Coffee *hearts*

A must stop every time I’m in Boston. Forget Cheers — come here where everyone actually knows each other’s names.

I ordered chicken pot pie, turns out it was a solid choice. Instead of pie crust, they load it up with mashed potatoes. My brother got shepherd pie also a solid choice. I tried the Guinness stew. The meat was tender and delicious. The fish and chips were ok. I would eat here again. I’d probably order the chicken pot pie again.

Wife and I both got the fish and chips. Batter was good but a little gamey. Service was good and a good atmosphere.

One of my favorite bars. Family owned and operated. Many local regulars. Good beer on tap including Stone IPA. Sandwiches, service, atmosphere are all good. I ask for nothing more.

I was in Brookline for a family weekend at Wheelock College. I ended two of the nights at O’Leary’s. What a great East Coast Bar. There is no shortage of Irish Pubs in Boston, but this one stands out. The owners — actually Irish were super friendly and we had some great conversations. I highly recommend O’Leary’s.

Excellent service, our waitress was very attentive Good pub food, calamari had a perfect crust and the stew was excellent. The batter on the fish and chips was a little under done. Kitchen was running a bit slow for a not too busy Sunday. Pricey for what they are serving.

Under extreme circumstances I was at O’Leary’s. I was in town with a buddy for Patriot’s Day, visiting from Idaho. All my family on my dad’s side, Boston irish so I do have a connection just haven’t spent a lot of time in the city. We arrived Saturday and picked up the Sunday and Monday Red Sox games. We came out of the Monday game and started to hike down for the finish line of the Boston Marathon. We only got a couple blocks away from the finish line however, due to all of the mayhem surrounding the attacks. We were without cell service for over an hour and found O’Leary’s. First and foremost, Wifi. Which helped out tremendously with connecting with family back home. But here’s what I love… Your staff was awesome. You took care of everyone, were friendly under stressful circumstances and your pub was extremely crowded with locals, marathoners and families. We ordered food, you were generous in the portions. There was about 10 in our group there that day. I never got to say thank you, but thank you for being kind and taking care of Boston on that day. Next trip back to Boston will definitely include beers and grub at O’Leary’s.

We showed up for a drink after work, and the waitress was friendly and never rushed us. She was even easy-going about allowing more people to join our party part-way through. But as business picked up, it made it hard to get much in the way of water refills or get our check when we were ready to leave. Mostly, I think they could use more servers considering what a popular place this seems to be. *Just a heads-up, the prices for beers isn’t printed in the menu(only the prices for Specials are posted), so it made it tricky when dividing our check amongst the group.

After her cow inadvertently started the Great Chicago fire of 1869 Mrs. O’Leary slaughtered the offending animal and left her adopted home to return to Boston, MA where she opened a Pub and Restaurant. She spent the rest of her days contentedly serving pints of Guiness and plates of chicken tenders to her customers. O’Leary’s Irish Pub and Restaurant is not the same one that infamous Mrs. O’Leary opened, but it has her spirit of friendly service and quality food, where you can always find a good pint, and there are no cows of any kind kept anywhere in the area, for safety reasons.
