Went there for an oil change. People work there are very polite and they also offer tea, coffee and magazines while you’re waiting for your car. They will give you a quote of parts need to be fixed, but they aren’t pushy at all. Overall, I had a nice experience at Midas and would come back again.

I went to the Brookline Midas for everything from oil changes (which were good) to brakes, roters, tires, and starters (yes plural). This past year I had all of this work done, thinking that they were doing a good job. This week I had my car not start & I needed to have it towed to a local body shop where they told me it was my starter — which Midas replaced in May… So I had to have it re-​done, and pay for 90 $ to have the car towed … Had it been done correctly I wouldn’t have to pay that. Then a few days later I called to see if I could bring the car in (at 8:30am)bc «squeaking noise I was hearing haven’t gone away, they spoke to me in a condescending tone that was very unprofessional and quite rude — esp for a client who had spent well over 3000 $ this past year. I called over to a different Midas (Natick) and they welcomed me to their shop… As soon as they took my car apart they found out IT WAS THE ROTERS. The reason I was hearing the noise was bc they used cheap metal roters and charged my the price of the other type. The Natick location helped me & even battled with the mgr about replacing the roters. They run a shady, business that is horrible. I will be calling the BBB about this location .i wouldn’t recommend this location to anyone .

I didn’t even use their services this past visit, but I have to write a review for this location, because the guy who works there (I think also in the photos) is so wonderful.
I pulled into the Brookline Midas to see if they do inspections. They don’t, but the man who works there ever so politely directed me to a gas station nearby that could do it for me. The gentleman was so respectful, generous and polite in ensuring I went to the right place to get the service my car required, I knew I would have to return to this Midas to get whatever car services I’d need in the future. It is rare to see such a sense of excellence these days – it really made my day!

Cass was helpful and straightforward. I would most definitely recommend them and go back again!

This review is long overdue. I needed to figure out what was wrong with my Mazda and why my suspension was making a terrible noise. When I brought my car in, I was given a competitive estimate and detailed report of the problem. I scheduled my appointment for the next morning and within a day I had suspension tightened and my front wheel bearing replaced which unbeknownst to me was a much more serious issue than the noise from my suspension. Paul and his team were extremely helpful and gave me a feeling of honesty and integrity which is so relieving to someone illiterate to car repair.
Thank you Paul! I will be back.

It’s a small Midas located in Brookline. It looks shady from the outside but the people who work here are very polite and attentive to your needs. Just like any other car mechanic places, they will try to tell you that you need to fix a lot of things BUT they won’t try to manipulate or lie to you in order to get you to do that. They will give you a quote and give you some time to think about it so that you can just come back whenever you make up your mind. Last time I went, they gave me a whole list of things that I need to fix and at first I thought they were trying to trick me into fixing unnecessary things… so I went for a second opinion from a different place and I realized they were giving me an accurate diagnosis of my car.
If you are looking to do a simple oil change, this will be a great place to visit. They usually have oil change & tire rotation deal for $ 19.99 (conventional oil of 3000 miles). You can upgrade to a synthetic blend and it will cost you around $ 50 but it will last double the mileage of around 6000 miles.

Good and fast service. Cheapest oil change in town I will come back. Those people work there very nice. The price is reasonable too.

My experience here inspired me to create a Unilocal account so I could leave some feedback. My car needed new breaks and rotors so I started out doing some research and getting pricing, even entertained the idea of doing it myself. These guys came out middle of the road for pricing but figured the extra few hundred bucks would be worth the quality. These guys did not disappoint, Tony and Scott were very helpful and honest with me. I was able to make an appointment the night before and they took me first thing in the morning. The gentlman who replaced my breaks came out when everything was complete and handed me my key (very personable). I would highly recommend this garage.
On a side note: Before you get work done look at their website for coupons, I was able to save $ 50.

Bought a groupon for oil change for 15 $ at Midas. The service is swift and the guy is nice and friendly. However they recommend other repairs may cost me 1500bucks more. I appreciate they did not force me to do it.

I just moved to the area and was looking for a place to get my oil changed. I’ve had luck at other Midas places, so I figured I’d try this one. It was a so-​so experience, and I might consider going back.
Location: Difficult to get to — it’s on a divided highway and coming from the city I had to pass it and turn around after ½ mile.
Service: The man at the desk told me it was his second day on the job, which was evident because of the difficulty he had using the computer. It took a very long time for him to pull up my appointment and enter my info, which was frustrating. The oil change itself took about 35 minutes, which wasn’t too bad. The waiting area was fairly clean and spacious. After the oil change and complimentary service check, though, he took little to no time to explain the results of the check. There turned out to be several areas of concern for my car, but unlike other experiences I’ve had at other Midas’s, he did not take the time to explain these areas of concern. (My car has 200,000+ miles on it, and I’m rather car-​illiterate, so I really appreciate it when someone will explain to me exactly what I need to know about what is going on with the car)
Price: Average price for an oil change — I think I paid $ 22 or so.
On the whole: Fine, just not what I expected/​hopes for from a Midas.

I hate to write negative reviews, but I would give this place negative stars if I could. The parts they use are deplorable. In fact, my beat up 10 year old struts were better than the new ones they put in. Their mechanics really shouldn’t be trusted with any moderate-​big job because they seem pretty incompetent at diagnosing and fixing things that are more advanced than an oil/​fluid change. Only positive is that they are friendly and can get you in pretty fast, but trust me, it’s not worth your time or money. Also, while their prices are lower than other shops you will spend *more* money fixing the work they did.
I brought my car here for a simple struts and links job and they managed to make my car worse. Immediately upon leaving their shop my car started making a heinous creaking sound that I’d never heard before. I brought it back and they informed me that it was a completely unrelated issue that would be a 1,400 repair. While they didn’t push that job on me, they were very dismissive of my concern that it was the work they just did. In the end, they told me to either do the expensive new repair or just deal with the noise.
I left without that repair and brought it to another mechanic for a second opinion ($ 83) who said the sound was from the inferior parts they used for my links. In fact, he said that they were the worst parts he’d ever seen. When I brought it back, they promptly replaced the links for free per the warranty, but the sound returned hours later. Finally, I brought to another mechanic who fixed it within 15 minutes and now the noise is totally gone. In the end I wasted $ 203 getting repairs made for *their* work, took 2 days off from work and encountered countless inconveniences while I couldn’t drive my car. By far the worst car repair shop around. Don’t go here!

These guys are great. Despite no longer living in Brookline, I keep coming back because they make the basics that I need for my car totally painless.
The staff are friendly and good at explaining things without talking down to you. Prices are standard, and on a couple of occasions they’ve done minor work for free. Great little place for all your simple car needs.

Considering all the great reviews, my experience with this Midas (120 Boylston St, Brookline, MA) might be an isolated case. I had a Groupon so I called on a Thursday to schedule an oil change for the following Saturday. The manager (his name was Earl) took down my last name and told me I should be taken care of at 10:30AM. I went there at 10:30 sharp but Earl told me I had to drop my car and come back in 3 hours. Since I live far away, and my wife was with me, we decided to take the T to downtown and wait for their phone call. After 3 hours they called me to tell me they cannot open the hood!!! OK! Fine! I went and retrieved my car to take to my usual mechanic who CAN open the hood! I went home and checked my Groupon: They had redeemed it! You can imagine my anger! I called Earl, he tells me if I can have the hood open, he will give me a free oil change! Amazing! Why did you redeem my coupon when you provided no service. Let alone all the waisted time on a beautiful Saturday!

Brought my car here for leaking power steering fluid and check engine light. Was told that three parts were leaking and it would cost around $ 1800 to replace the parts. For the check engine light I was told it would be a problem with the transmission and it would cost $ 110 to diagnose the problem as they would have to do a detailed inspection to identify where the problem was. MIDAS did not charge for this inspection.
For a second opinion I took the car to another garage who connected a computer to see what was causing the check engine light. It was the fuel cap not put on correctly causing the light. Was corrected in seconds. As for the power steering fluid it was a loose hose which was tightened. It has now been several weeks and no power steering fluid loss and no check engine light. The other garage did not charge for what took less than 5 minutes overall. The other garage now has a loyal customer; as for this MIDAS garage, I will not be returning.

No one likes having to get their car fixed or performing maintenance, but Midas in Brookline makes it simple. They are very friendly, professional, and they definitely know their stuff. They say it how it is and they don’t try to jack up prices or tell you that you need something you really don’t. It’s an automotive shop so it’s not super fancy but they have nice touches like free coffee, water, or soda while you wait.
100% I will go here for anything I need done on my car.

Fast service, standard pricing, didn’t try to add on to make money.

I originally went here because I had a coupon for an oil change and tire rotation for, I think, $ 21.95. I’ve kept going back because this is one of the only oil change places in the area I don’t feel like they’re trying to rip me off by telling me I need unnecessary things done to my car.
I did need my rotors and front breaks replaced last year and they took me back and showed me the parts, what everything meant and explained my time frames and the costs. I went home and researched everything on the internet and they were exactly right (I did need the work and their costs were pretty good). I called around to some other businesses and priced them out by Midas came out on top. I got a free estimate at another place where a bunch on con men tried to convince me that my car needed $ 1,000 of work that seemed completely bogus to me! When I went back to midas, they remembered me and gave me a discount for the break work.
I just went back for my regular oil change and love when they not only give me their regular great price, but I show up without an appointment and they get me in and out pretty quick. Not to mention they go through the check points on my car and give me a clean report instead of making things up to try and get money from me.
Will continue to go out of my way to keep going here for my basic car maintenance.

This place is horrible! The employees acted very nice and accommodating and then ended up giving me an estimate that was MORE THAN TWICE as much as it should have been. The guy told me that replacing my muffler should cost $ 1200 but they could weld in a piece of it for only $ 780 (as if it was a great deal). I explained that I had just started work and couldn’t afford that repair so he insisted that I get it done asap because it is dangerous to breath in the exhaust. I then picked up my car and called two other garages who both quoted the same repair as $ 250 – 300! I ended up getting the exhaust pipe fixed this morning for only $ 300.
I originally went to Midas because I figured that since it’s a corporation I could get a cheaper price but instead I learned yet again that I should trust and support local businesses.

The staff at this location was very nice and friendly, but their service and pricing was very disappointing. I came in to have an oil change and a headlight replaced, and I sat there for 2.5 hours in the middle of a weekday — there were no other people waiting, so it was baffling what would take so long. In their defense, the headlight is slightly difficult to replace, but it still took far too long, and cost too much. I recommend going to any number of Jiffy Lube locations around here, I have had overwhelmingly positive experiences there.
****UPDATE****
Just discovered last night that the headlight they replaced was either installed incorrectly, or it’s the wrong headlight, as it is much dimmer than the original headlight and does not point the correct direction. FAIL.

I hate cars. A lot. I bike everywhere as much as possible, but sometimes for work I have to drive my car. If there’s one thing I hat worse than cars it’s getting them fixed.
This place made it practically painless. They had super friendly and professional staff, were able to take my car right away, were quick, had wi-​fi, and when I looked like I was going to cry at the price-​tag they knocked off some of the cost.
All in all, wonderful experience. No offense, but I hope I don’t have to go back!
