Overall experience and competencies of staff outside of the actual dental services were terrible.
It took me several phone calls and conversations with the front desk technician, who proved to be unhelpful and unresponsive, to rectify a billing situation.
After speaking with an insurance representative, they provided services that were above and beyond which were needed so they could bill the premium of the insurance, and which was not covered, but would have been if they didn’t use a cosmetically appealing filling. I was told that my insurance billing information was going to be sent to my house, so I could contact them about the services that were provided, and I never received it. However, the monthly statements continued to roll in without the information needed to contact insurance for coverage and/​or reasons why the services were not covered after being explicitly told by the dentist that it was certainly preventative and would be covered.
One week later, after speaking to the secretary, I have NOT received a phone call from their manager, which I asked for in writing when giving them my billing information prior to handeling this matter in court.

I was a long-​time patient of Dr Longo’s (1998 – 2013) who adored her for the qualities all the other reviewers have mentioned. I recommended her to everyone I could and many of my friends (and once I married, my husband) became her patients. However, I became concerned that as a doctor she wasn’t serving my dental needs as well as she was my experience/​comfort/​education needs. When I had my regular check-​up with Dr. Longo’s new partner on a day that Dr. Longo was unavailable, she expressed unqualified alarm at the lack of action taken to solve my grinding/​TMJ problems, suggesting that there was much that could and should have been done in the long lead-​up to what had became an extremely painful problem. I immediately saw another dentist for a second opinion (Dr. Backman) who identified and solved the problem on the spot during my first visit. The pain that had been increasing over the numerous years I’d been seeing Dr. Longo disappeared within the week. I couldn’t believe it. Unfortunately, a friend who I recommended to Dr. Longo wasn’t as fortunate. She had a long series of procedures recommended by Dr. Longo that made her problems worse. Concerned after a year of procedures, she also sought a second opinion, which led her to switch dentists. I am a big fan of Dr. Longo as a person and wish all doctors could engage and explain as well as she does. However, in the end I worry for us all who really want to trust that she is taking just as good care of our long-​term health. Unfortunately, as a patient it is easier to assess a doctor’s personality than their dental expertise.

I went to Dr. Longo for a second opinion after a questionable experience with another dentist. I find her to be thoroughly professional as well as caring about her patients. She never does anything before making sure I understand what she’s about to do. I trust her; the dentist I had gone to before I went to Dr. Longo told me I needed nearly $ 10,000 worth of work done. Dr. Longo told me I was fine except for two minor procedures, coming to about $ 700. The staff is pleasant and friendly, and the waiting room is comfortable. I highly recommend Dr. Longo.

Dr. Longo is the nicest dentist I have ever experienced. I felt like she was an old friend of mine almost right away. She’s an expert at connecting inter-​personaly with patients and this helps me feel at ease. The office is clean. The staff is friendly. Sadly her office won’t take my insurance anymore so I have to go elsewhere.
I will miss Dr. Longo! I recommend her without hesitation.

Maria Lourdes Longo is like my Kevin Bacon. By chance, an ever-​growing group of my close friends and acquaintances just happen to go to Longo, and many of us only figured that out when simultaneously referring her to friends who ask what dentist we use.
I’ve been going to her for seven years and think she’s just great, as are all of the people who work with her. They are all very thorough, considerate, focused on preventative care and they’ll even feed your meter for you.
My only tip would be to book the first appointment of the day, or tack on an extra half hour for your later-​in-​the-​day visits because her appointments run over on occasion. To keep up with all of her clients, she’s expanded her practice and even renovated the office. It’s nice in there…

I’ve been going to Maria Lourdes Longo for around 5 years and have been very happy with treatment. I have a low pain tolerance and a nerve in a weird place and when I had a huge filling that needed to go in after the removal of an impacted wisdom tooth, she took extra time to make sure I had enough novocaine in the right spot. The staff is pleasant and efficient — just be sure to have insurance, it’s not cheap!
