Half Price Books The Plaza in Brookfield — Brookfield, Wisconsin — Buy and sell new and used books, CDs, LPs, DVDs, comic books, textbooks, magazines, games, nostalgia, stationery and more!
I love books. I love bookstores. If I could, I would set up a cot & stay here forever. There are a lot of books, movies, and music to choose from. If you take your time and browse through the shelves, you will find some gems. The books are reasonably priced because it is at a Half Price Bookstore. Go here, definitely if you are a book lover!

I would write this review on Amazon(still planning to) if I could figure out how. I order a book from Brookfield online, and not only did they send it to me right away, but they packaged it so beautifully… I’ve never seen so much care go into packaging a book. Just wanted to say thank you, and if You’re customer, totally buy a book from this place! Thank you!!! Love my book on daoism! Even better condition than you said

Half priced books is my newest guilty pleasure. Ever been to Borders or Barnes & Noble, see some books that look interesting… but you just can’t justify spending $ 30-$ 50 bucks on it hoping it doesn’t suck? Enter Half Priced books. The facility is large and clean. The staff is friendly and super helpful. Unlike other discount books stores this one is a chain with a logging system so if your book isn’t onsite at one location, chances are another location has it. They have everything from AudioBooks and movies to out of print collectibles. Long story short, as someone who loves to read, I love Half Priced Books.

So the store itself is a typical half priced books really. Lots of options. Staff is friendly and helpful. For being a used book store it is very organized and most of the staff know where everything is. I walked out with 10 books and spent about $ 70. That’s not bad!

The staff is friendly, the store is very clean, and the selection is always changing. The prices are the only thing I have a problem with. I mostly buy video games so keep that in mind. Anyways sometimes I’ll see a game extremely underpriced yet some games are double the price they are at most other places. You never know what you’re going to find which is pretty fun.

EDIT: I did neglect to say that I sell used fiction, nonfiction and textbooks, CDs, DVDs, and other miscellany here on a semi-regular basis. You won’t get rich doing so, but if you have current textbooks you’ll do pretty well. Think: about half of what Amazon pays for them. They’re quick to assess your lots. I might bring in four boxes and expect less than thirty minutes to wait for my cash offer. The best part about HPB is that they take EVERYTHING that you bring in. So it’s part of my personal cathartic practice to purge things regularly that they’ll take. You won’t have to cart any unwanted items back home or to thrift… as they recycle or donate that which they cannot sell. Don’t be shy. Give HPB selling a try.

Even though I read mostly on Kindle these days, I do love Half Price Books — especially this location. It’s large, well organized and has a nice little sitting area(with a fireplace) that makes it a pleasant place to browse. The selection does vary, depending on what people have brought in. You can be assured of finding any number of copies of Dan Brown books or whatever else was popular 6 months ago. The key is to come in with an open mind as they may or may not have a specific item. Jackie Collins novels? Yep — by the shelf full. An obscure Balzac novel? Sometimes — I’ve certainly found one or two. The other media areas(CD’s and DVD’s) are fun to browse too — lots of Vanilla Ice CD’s for $ 1 and a box set of Deadwood for $ 60(too much IMO). If anything, HPB is a good barometer of what the fine people of the Western suburbs were really, really into a few months back. From what I can tell, that involves a lot of copies of Oceans Twelve, Stephanie Meyer books and Black Eyed Peas CD’s.

I was staying within walking distance of this Half Price Books. I visited 3 times in 5 days while in town for work. I ended up mailing a box of books home. Great prices and an eclectic assortment. Perfect place to kill some time and browse. And buy more than you can carry. The employees were friendly, and as a bonus, there were some interesting characters shopping in there after dark.

Just updating to reflect on their new location on the corner of Calhoun and Brookfield(okay so not so new anymore — shame on me!). We come here all the time, and it’s even easier to get to. The store has gotten MUCH more organized and things are easier to find. They’ve upped the slickness ante and their checkout process is a bit smoother. This place runs like a well-oiled machine now, which makes shopping there even more of a pleasure. I love browsing or hunting for a specific item. I pretty much never enter this store without finding something for less than $ 10 to bring home with me. Excellent for gifts.

This store appears to be as good as the other Half Price Books in the area, but I have better luck here. I always find a good book or DVD here. There is a very huge collection of vinyl records here. The books are cheap and they hit every major genre. This place is a hit!

Helpful friendly staff. It is a clean store. Nice selection of books, CDs, DVDs, etc. There were a lot of new books at higher prices. But they still did not have the book I was looking for in new or used. The music is priced a lot higher than I would expect for a «half price» store.

I love this Half Price Books. The new location is AWESOME! It’s so nice and clean, not too crowded(like the previous location). Still — like everyone else says, if you go to sell your books, don’t expect to make a mint on selling your stuff here. They will give you a decent price for your stuff. The staff is usually pretty friendly(unless they have a ton of people, like Saturdays or Sundays), and are very knowledgeable. The variety of the books and audio is awesome. I have found a lot of diamonds in the rough here, and everything is priced right.

Better than the average HPB; more used books, less publisher’s clearance. Wasn’t particularly crowded, except for the religion aisle.

A great place for used books. They tend to have a great variety and some books you’ll have a hard time finding elsewhere. They also sell used videos/dvds/music, although I can’t say I’ve really looked into those when I’ve been there. You can also sell your used books/dvds/etc. Don’t expect to get too much money, though, but it’s a good way to get an extra few bucks if you just have old books collecting dust. Fortunately, the prices of the books are also very cheap and reasonable, so you can easily sell a few books and use the money to buy a few.
