I love this place so much. Their waitress is so kind and it feels like home here. The food is also great, no better place on City Island!!!

A small performance space for musicians featuring a small kitchen in the back. The Food is expensive but it appears to be homemade, and what I’ve had so far has been quite delicious. I wish they had more vegetarian options though. There’s no cover charge, but they pass around a donation box which you should contribute to. It’s a cozy space in a neat area.

Starving Artist is a great night out and a super cool, funky, one of a kind place. It is a place to go to hear music with 50 other people, at long communal tables. I heard this is a 2nd act for Elliott who is committed to providing great music to the community –he doesn’t charge any cover and is I think only open weekends. It is clearly a lobor of love. On top of all this he cooks on a bunch of hot plates in the back and cranks out really good food! The menu is different on any given night. And there is one waitress who does her best, stays calm, to serve all those people. But no one cares if there is a wait since the music and company are both fantastic. I drive 45 minutes to get here. A must see.

You don’t find anything better than the Starving Artist. Owners Monica and Eliot Glick make you feel welcome, like you are in their home. They are friendly, fun and energetic! It is rare to meet people with such a zest and excitement for people and music! The atmosphere is cozy and the music as well as food is always wonderful! The food is made in an extremely small kitchen but with great care so be patient! All the food is Made to Order so make sure to place your order early in the show. There is never a cover-charge for music which is nice. The music is also extremely varied depending on the night so you are sure to find something you like. It is nice to hear such awesome local musical talents! You always meet wonderful and friendly people and can really appreciate the feeling of being in a small intimate café. They generally will pass around a money box with donations that go towards the artists since they aren’t paid-nice to contribute if you can! Art exhibits on the walls always rotate as well and are for sale which adds to the unique décor. Give it a shot-you won’t be disappointed!

The Starving Artist is great… probably the coolest thing on City Island. The staff is ultra-friendly and makes you feel at home right away. The food and desserts are so good, you’ll want to move right in! I had the biggest sundae there that made me feel like I was a king. There’s tons of books on the shelves for a quick read, and it’s a perfect date spot, too, but definitely stop in for some live music. I only wish I lived closer, I’d be there every day!

A Manhattan Café in City Island. Great music!!! Home style food. When you go there, you feel you’re at a relative’s house. Not to be missed.
