When they bring the plates out, it’s impressive, then you realize the plates are really thick, and the portions aren’t as big as you assumed, then you realize that the guacamole and sour cream and pico de gallo are all placed on a bed of shredded iceberg lettuce, so what looks like a lot turns out to be very little, and then you taste the food, worst of all. There is very little flavor. Disappointing as Tex-Mex, and as far from authentic Mexican as you can get. The people who work here are Mexican, but the flavors have been subdued to the point of extinction. Ugh.

Save your money stay out! Their prices don’t reflect the quantity and quality of their food. Staff is rude and lack attention to detail.

I ordered take out tonight wasn’t amazed. Everything was very basic. No flavor really. Didn’t look presentable at all. Very messy. Would I come here again? No.

Here is a local stand-by Mexican joint in an area that is becoming increasingly crowded with Mexican restaurants. There is nothing too far-out going on here — it is your standard Tex-Mex place, with burritos, tacos, salsa and chips, margaritas, etc. The servers are friendly and helpful, and there are some good happy hour drink specials. The surroundings are nothing special, and the quality and prices are average. A couple of things did jump out at me — for one, the mariachi band, and like others have mentioned, they do play loud(but they also take breaks). They are talented musicians who will stop by your table and give you an up-close performance(tips appreciated). Also, the salsa was quite flavorful, and not the watery, over-scovilled stuff you get at some places. I remember hearing once from somebody with experience in the restaurant biz that the one thing that a diner serves that really needs to be good is the coffee. If people don’t like the coffee, they will start eating elsewhere. Imo, for Mexican restaurants that key item is the salsa, and Santa Fe passes the test. I would come here again.

Went in tonight and it was by far the worst service I’ve ever received from this place. When I first arrived I was told by the host that there was a 15 – 20 minute wait. There were tables in the back that were not taken up. As soon as she saw us about to leave miraculously a table became available. Our waitress never said her name just asked us what we wanted. No smile no nothing. The whole time we were seated she never came over to ask if we wanted anything. No extra water, not if the food was good, nothing. When it came time for the check, I didn’t even bother leaving a tip. Her attitude was Atrocious. Everyone else received far better service then we had received. The food was good, not as good as I remember from my prior visit. Mariachi band is way to loud with all the extra music that they have overhead. They should definitely look into better waitresses. From time to time they were standing around in a group like little school girls.

Service is slow. If you’re sitting at a table on a Thursday night. I used to go more often with my wife but the place has gone down hill. Ordered what I thought was a large guacamole and got a plate full of chips and s smidgen of guacamole. Ordered a mixed fajita(chicken steak & shrimp) and got 2 shrimp. Really! When you ask for Patron neat they serve a 1 oz shot in a sifter. Lame! Advice: Go if you have to and order beer. Drinks are weak with tacky umbrellas and garnish.

Went here for cinco de mayo. Wasn’t impressed as a first experience. I can’t judge on the actual food because I primarily came for drinks and appetizers. The place was pretty packed, and for the most part I saw families and older women having fun while live mariachi was played, which in my opinion reminds me of death, but hey I was at a Mexican restaurant. I can’t knock them for that. I actually saw a white woman river dancing to mariachi, so I guess to each his or her own. I need at least ten shots in my system before I can embrace that. There was some salsa and bachata played, so I appreciate that variety. Now let’s gets to the juicy stuff. The food was generally good, although with my appetizer(steak n chips), I think I would have been more than satisfied with the steak portion at the local tex mex 2 blocks down. I was digging through my damn chips like I was performing an operation and removing small pieces of shrapnel from within. The frozen margaritas were not«frozen» enough to give brain freezes, but I guess they met average requirements. As for the potency of the frozen drink, I could barley taste alcohol(despite the drink tasting pretty good. Coconut margarita) and so my attention became focused on taking shots every damn 45 mins because that’s how long it took before my unenthusiastic waiter came back. Sometimes I wondered if he was drifting off to the basement to masturbate and take away the pain from the busy day. He even took away my damn second set of tortilla chips with no warning while I was munching on one. I felt like a kid being bullied in the school cafeteria and my chicken nuggets were just taken. SONOF A… It’s very possible the guy just had a bad day, but i was ready to walk over to the bar next door to get my alchohol fix and go streaking. I found the drinks to be way overpriced(margaritas — 8 bucks during happy hour) and it didn’t even come with a free BJ. I was thinking I’d be getting a kind of 5 dollar happy hour deal here. So no, this wasn’t happy hour at blockheads. If I come here again, I better find a groupon deal.

I haven’t had dinner here. My buddy and I enjoyed a Cobb Salad after a good 6 mile run in the park across the street. I was famished. The salad had real good taste, mine came with crusty prawns that were delicious. The black beans added good weight and protein to the salad. When finished I was satisfied, pretty good for a salad.

Over priced drinks that lack the flavorful punch(margueritas). The guacamole is fresh and good. Not much in the way of fresh cooking. Seems fast foodish at best. The Mariachi band is good and usually there on the weekends! Average food ambiance is so so with the giant mural in the back near the bathrooms!

OK so Hubby & I came here on a Saturday night in November around 7ish after reading some reviews on here, Well… I wasn’t disappointed! I was surprised that for a saturday night it wasn’t as packed as I thought it would be. we got seated promptly and the staff was nice. Now i have some quirks when I go out to eat. and this is Santa Fe’s List 1-Be Organized! it annoys me when i have 4 different waiters. why must i keep repeating myself. orders get confused, u dont know who you are leaving a tip for. c’mon i understand its family owned but JEEZ get it together! 2– Give us Space! let your patrons take time to look @ your menu and shop around. when we are ready to order or ask a question we WILL call you! I understand you are friendly but dont be overbearing! 3– Ugh. I tried a Pina Colada and it SUCKED!!! it was extremely watery no taste! i was surprised being that i had a melon margarita and it was REALGOOD! PROs 1– Food was good over all from apps to entrees and the khalua flan was good as well! 2– the free nachos were good 3– the bucket of mexican beer was awesome 4-decent prices 5– friendly atmosphere/staff I would come here again for a second try… I enjoyed my dinner hubby not as much but overall we had a nice time. If you’re in the neighborhood check it out!
