Came here during my lunch break with a coworker. I’m always down to try to new pizza spots, and this one was worth a try. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I ordered a pepperoni slice and a regular cheese slice– both were pretty good. Random– they have a weird looking doll on top of all their pizza boxes in the back, lmao. It was so creepy when I peeped it. Please remove it in case you have observant Virgos like me eating at your establishment! haha

If been a SAMs customer for 46 years we would run to pizzeria at the dismissal bell from St. John’s elementary. I have to move out of the neighborhood for about 10 years now but I do work in the Bronx I stop by at least once a month late Saturday night. The pizza is never greasy and the place is always clean.

The best so far! I grew up eating this pizza, and thirty-something years later, it STILL tastes the same! Unbelievable. I said unBElievable… Ummyummm!

Huge, relatively thin crust slices made with whole milk cheese. Have a tendency to slightly undercook the pies on occasion but it’s still easily the best slice on this side of the Bronx. If only they delivered and accepted credit card…

My favorite pizza joint in the Bronx hands down. The pizza is delicious and the sizes are VERY generous. I ordered a small pizza and it looked like the size of a typical large pizza.

The best pizza in town. Generous size slices that are always delicious. I’ve been going to Sams for years and it definitely beats the many pizza shops in the area. If only they deliver.

Lady is nasty! There are a few customers and she’s gets flustered, ignored you or snaps at you. Definitely a minus for not having a delivery service and customer service.

Great no frills pizza stop. Prefer it much more than most slices in manhattan and you can get your slices custom made and heated for you so its always fresh. I doubt youd find a slice older than 10 minutes in here.

Was craving a slice of pizza, an old-fashioned kind, to be specific, and this place did not let me down. The slices are humongous they are just perfectly crunchy and seriously such a good slice of plain pizza. Sicilian not so much, but the regular slice I would go back for again and again. decent prices as well, and fast service.

Great slice. Was passing through the neighborhood on my way back to the train from the uhaul rental center. Stopped here for s slice. The slices are large and are just the right mix of dough and crispiness… foldable but crispy on the outside. definitely recommend.

I’ve lived in the area 21 years. Grew up here eating Sam’s Pizza, and was really sad when they closed to renovate. They opened back up super fast and I understood immediately. Pizza is aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamazing. New pizza shops have opened up in the area, and they still can’t compete. Sam doesn’t deliver, but they’ll stay open until like 2am. No one else does this around here. They’re super community oriented, and they don’t forget a face. Okay so there’s no room to move on a Friday night. No other pizza spot is this good, that’s why. If you want to sit down and have a slice, go to Gourmet on 238th or the other pizza spot on 231st. The pizza is not going to satisfy you. If you like a nice crunch, not too cheesy, slice of pizza, come to Sam’s. They’re always open and they’re faster than anyone in this hood. Fuggheddaboutit

My fiancée and I were on the hunt for some pizza for our daughter. As native new yorkers and avid Unilocalers, he noticed the great reviews for this place and decided this would be the place where we would grab pizza and garlic knots. My daughter liked the pizza. The slice was pretty big. We had to cut in half once we got home. Now the garlic knots, complete 360. They were super bland and who ever made them used regular garlic seasoning(garlic powder). Never have I ever had garlic knots like that. I am used to the oily garlic knots with huge chunks of garlic and some herbs on it(even with some parmesan cheese sprinkled on top).

Good pizza and probably the best in the 231st St./Broadway area. Friendly service but the prices are a bit high for a pie.

Yes, i’m a native New Yorker, born and raised only around the block from Sam’s pizza so maybe you think I’m biased but I’ve also lived in California, Texas and now Colorado and let me tell you– there has not been one place that has better pizza than good old Sam’s. The pizza is absolutely delicious. Even my husband, who lived in queens and Brooklyn growing up, says this is one of his favorite pizzas. The owners are awesome, they have seen me grow up– from kindergarten to current age(I’m 28 now) and even though I haven’t lived in NY for 6 years now, I do visit NY frequently and Sam still remembers me and my family and always takes the time to ask about us and see how we are doing. You can’t beat that feeling about being cared about even after 5+ years and 2,000+ miles away :)

I wanted to love Sam’s, but nothing about the experience here was positive except for the smiles from fellow customers(all locals besides me*). Albanian owners are fine, and no room to move in the joint on a Friday night is to be expected, and compromising on the pizza part by also selling meat patties is OK too, but the crust here is really subpar. I suppose it’s hard to knock your longtime local pizzeria*, but the apparent recent renovation didn’t distract from the bland looking and tasting knots(4/$ 1). Some parts skew from charming to concerning, like when 2 different children who appear to be the kids of the 2 folks running the shop were in danger(one trying to raise the door, the other handed a knife with the blade facing her). *Aside from the copious fake reviews, I realize now that every 5-star is skewed by childhood memories. PS they take orders accordingly, so if you’re a newbie, expect to wait even longer

I have ate my fair share of New York pizzas but u far this place is the best ever tasting pizza !!! The way the cheese tastes, the sauce, down all the way to the crust. The way Sam himself prepares the pizza pie with such passion(and he is a real Italian pizza maker probably one of the only ones left in small areas I have been to) customer service is awesome .I have about 3 years living in the area and I at least stop by twice a week to eat some fresh garlic knots and my wife loves beef patties and at least 2 – 3 slices .this place is highly recommended by me

Pfft I’ve been a regular since age 5! Lol. They summer days where my grandfather bought me ices everyday. And the pizza… umph. This right here is Bronx pizza. As a Bronx native, ain’t no pizza like(my dad and my usual) Sam’s extra cheese pepperoni sausage and mushroom pizza. This isn’t your artesian Brooklyn pizza, this is your chewy crust gooey cheese dripping messy with oil kinda Bronx pizza! Plus the Albanian family that runs the place are adorably sweet. P. S. For all you vanilla coke lovers out there, vanilla coke is always so hard to find but Sam’s has them in stock! ;)
