I came to Pep Boys after bringing my 2007 CR-​V to Honda and having them quote me an astronomical amount for an alternator belt and a new PCV valve. Mikey was my rep and he was fantastic. He was professional, courteous and honest. He asked me questions and advised me to have a checkup done before doing some of the work. Turned out I needed some tire work and wheel alignment done, but no alternator belt. At first I was told that all the work would take a full day because they needed parts. They ended up getting the parts in that day and were able to get the work done by the afternoon. When I came in to get the car, Mikey was there ready with a smile and was able to give some good news as I was able to save some money after all work was completed. Overall I had a fantastic experience and I think Mikey is a fantastic rep.

There needs to be more communication between the people in the front and the mechanics.

I had a loaner car for the summer that had a few problems. The staff at pep boys were always very helpful and professional when i dealt with them. They explained everything to me clearly and made sure i knew my options.

Prices seem a bit high and the staff isn’t much help. I think I will stick with autozone instead

A bit pricey, but the customer service was A+. I initially had my SUV towed in because it was over heating. Denzel was the representative that took personal responsibility for making sure my car was serviced as needed, even when he was not there. He made sure to communicate with his team to ensure I would be satisfied with the repairs done on my car. I appreciated his humble and sincere approach to ensuring everything was done appropriately. I also appreciated Ricky’s oversight and helpful managing to ensure the part (which) they didn’t have was ordered and ready to be installed on my car. This team seems to appreciate the customer by their spirited way in working with their customers.

I dropped off my significant other here to do a simple oil change. Really a 45 minute job… They told her 1.5 hours, which is long but fine I guess. 3 hours later the car is still not ready. Very unprofessional. No apology, no sincerity and no explanation. Very poor customer service. Avoid at all cost. Look at the other reviews in here as well and you will see the trend.

Dropped my car off for service on 3÷6÷15 and waited until 3÷19÷15 for it to be ready. Had 0 call backs from the service department when I would call to inquire about the status of my car/​repairs. Well — I thought everything was done and ready to go when I picked it up after 8:00pm on 3÷19÷15.
FAST FORWARD… on Saturday 4÷11÷15 I received 2 Parking violations from NYC. 1 ticket was for parking in the handicapped area on 3÷16÷15 at 4:06pm and 2^nd ticket was for improperly displayed plates on 3÷16÷14 at 4:09pm.
I received tickets while my car was IN THEIR CARE at THEIR FACILITY!!! No one said anything to me when I picked up my car.
SPoke with the Assistant Manager Tracy, in person and she was helpful, assuring me someone would get back to me (they didn’t).
Called on 4÷14÷15 and spoke with Nelson Delgado and he was EXTREMELY RUDE and CONDESCENDING. He stated they would only be paying for the handicapped ticket, as it was my fault about the plate. REALLY? I brought my car to their facility with both plates displayed and properly attached.
HORRIBLE customer service — UNETHICAL, SNEAKY.

Dont go here unless you want to get ROBBED. Car towed here and as I dont live in the STATE I needed to get done ASAP. Took 2 days and none of the parts were in stock so they had to ordered from another vendor who just so happens to charge over 2X as much as their own advertised prices on their website.

This place is great. The manager, Ricky, was so nice and helpful. The staff were courteous and knowledgeable. I came in with a flat tire and they gave me an excellent price. I also got an oil change. I’d definitely go here again.

I recently visited this location after having difficulty starting my car. Triple AAA said it was my battery and because i was under warranty i sought an exchange. To make a long story short a test was conducted and i was informed it was the alternator. As im not an expert i called my mechanic who asked «was a test provided on that.» I was told yes, the alternator that is. After some back and forth dialogue between my mechanic who directed me to take one of the battery connectors off and turn on everything in the car (radio, heater, high beams, wipers etc …). Once the car still ran it was obvious it could not have been the alternator. At this point, one of the workers so unprofessionally asked” If you have a mechanic why did you bring your car to us? «My response was that i had a warranty. It soon became obvious that the work area attendant’s initial confirmation that a test on the alternator was conducted was an absolute lie. The positive from my experience was that the front desk manager was clear and understanding towards identifying possible causes as to the root of my problem. The moral of the story: Dont believe everything you hear especially if you are not present for any actual tests.

Doesn’t even deserve a star (THE WORK REPAIR SERVICE EVER). I took my car in because horn stopped working to have it checked out since I drive long distance to and from work everyday day and I had a trip the next morning on which I would be on the highway for over 10 hours so I needed a working horn. The person who did the intake said I had to have the whole electrical system checked. Okay I’m not a mechanic if he said so then my car should need it I had a 530 appt. From time to time I would get up and ask about my car they kept telling me it was busy and they were running behind schedule although I kept seeing people who got there after me were getting there cars and leaving. Okay so 9 or 10 pm they where closing the store I get called up to the place and told my horn doesn’t work I will need to have a new one installed but because it was so late in the day I would have to come back the next day (YEAH WELL ARE THEY SERIOUS THAT WAS MY MAIN COMPLAINT WHEN I WALKED IN THAT PLACE I TOLD THEM MY HORN IS NOT WORKING IM HERE TO GET IT FIXED). I had to really practically beg these people to fix this horn. They decided to fix it that night I think I got home 1130. The next day I went on my trip horn worked for approximately 2 days I had to take trip back home on Highway with no horn. GETS BETTER I GO BACK TO PEP BOYS TO ASK THEM TO FIX IT AGAIN THEY MADE ME WAIT. They said because I didn’t have an appointment I would be last on the list for the day. WHAT… THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE ANYONE. ONLY TAKE CARE OF THERE FRIENDS; FAMILY; COWORKERS; ANY ONE ELSE LOOK OUT ESPECIALLY IF YOUR A WOMAN STAY CLEAR NOW I GO TO FIRESTONE NOW THAT A PLACE THAT RESPECTS IT’S CUSTOMERS 100%.

Don’t waste your time, this place customer service skills are currently non existing, and the service is below standard. I was a repeate customer up until yesterday!!! I went in for a simple oil change and had a terrible interaction with The One, The Only TIM (a true A**hole). He was as kind as to make me wait longer than necessary, send me a text only after I asked him for a status on my vehicle, and while I was standing in front of him, then decided to just add a rewards card of some sort without asking, but was nice enough to point out that I should read the back for further details. $ 70.00 later and a brief verbal warning that my vehicle was leaking, no recommendations as to what to do or how dangerous this may be. I was however instructed to pay at a different area and to pick up my vehicle from the lot. Needless to say, I’ve schedule another service visit elsewhere.

At first I was skeptical about taking my car here because of all the negative reviews and my previous experiences with another Pep Boys location, but I did and seriously I have never had a better experience. I live two trains and a bus ride away from this location so they were super nice about holding onto my car until I could get up there to pick it up. They were also informative about exactly what was going on with it and Ricky was honest about the fact that they didn’t have the proper tools to work on my Volkswagen for its particular problem so they directed me to a service center nearby who could help me better. Any other auto place would have just tried to do the work and made me pay. They also made sure that my coolant was topped off at no charge so I could make the trip to the next location safely. I’ll be taking my car back to them when it’s time for maintenance and oil changes.

Im so impressed I come in not knowing what was wrong with my car ricky was so informed he went through everything not missing anything told me why I had to replace things even took meon a testdriveto show mehow smooth my car would run I highly recommended this place if you go do ask for Ricky very nice guy and is willing to answering all your questions very good experience

they’ve been great about inspecting & fixing my car, as well as coaching me through replacing my own headlight (my choice). I decided to write them a positive review to reflect that, but then I realized that their contact info is completely out of date here. there’s no hours listed, & the phone number is disconnected! I know they are still in business because I was there just last week. do they even care about this kinda platform, or their rep?

Worst service ever 2 hours for an oil change and never got it !!! Just left !!! Keep asking how long and always told me 10 minute’s and to completely go all the way they can not even help you with a part for a car have untrained staff to look up parts. will never go to this place again hope that not all pepboys are like this one.

For some reason they also deleted my negative review. Why don’t you focus on hiring a competent staff instead of focusing on paying to have negative reviews deleted.

Took my car in for an inspection at this location. They failed my inspection because they claimed I needed new tires. The tires I have are still good so I took my car to four (4) other places. All the other places (which do not sell tires) inspected my tires and said my tires were in good condition and that they passed the safety criteria. I had to come back to this location to confront them for reporting false information to the state (on the initial inspection report) and to have them clear out that false information so that I could go somewhere else for my inspection.
Plainly… Do not go to pep boys for an inspection. Because they are in the business of selling tires, they will hold your inspection hostage and attempt to force you to buy their tires.
They tried to rip me off and I’m sure I wasn’t the first and won’t be the last.
Save yourself the aggravation.

Bad service and warranty suck!!! don’t get brakes from here

I was told I needed new rear brake pads. I took it to Toyota later the same week to confirm I needed new brake pads & they said I absolutely did not need them. I wouldn’t trust this branch if Pep Boys.

As a long time resident of the Bronx, I have come here over the years to buy parts for my cars. In addition, I have come here a few times for auto service.
While buying parts was painless, each service experience was not:
1) get an inspection sticker
2) buy set of 4 tires and get them mounted
3) replace one tire under warranty
4) (one month after #3) replace the tire that was replaced.
May I reiterate terrible service? Sure advertised prices are lower than other businesses but you have to sacrifice time. The queue of customers is long and each event for car service took between 3 hours to an entire day of waiting.
The service arm side of the business is poorly organized and managed. The guys at the front take your info and put the key on the wall. The mechanics come in and pick up any key and work on a car.
On my last visit, one tire was looking flat so either Pep Boys gave me a lemon or the mechanic did a poor job mounting the tire. After seeing workers joking around with each other and doing nothing as 4 hours went by was bad comedy. I found out it that it was the last mechanic’s negligence. Great. As I waited, other angry customers were sucking their teeth in disbelief as they stared at the their watches in the waiting room.
No apologies?
Never again.
The CEO of Pep Boys should do an episode of Undercover Boss for this branch. This place needs help.
