I ordered Tostadas de Tinga(it’s shredded Chipotle chicken on a crunchy tortilla). The chicken was yummy-in-my-tummy good. But, I tasted the actual tostada, somehow it reminded me of the store brought tostada, very generic … I like when they deep fry the tortilla themselves. It has more of a home-style taste… I ordered agua de Jamaica as well. That was so refreshing. The delivery was fast, Which I liked. The food looked like it was handled with care when delivered. I rated this place a four because I liked the food. But feel like the tostada could use a bit more of an effort, but I will order again and perhaps this 4 will change to a 5 stars?

It’s okay. A little above average Mexican deli grocery. The breaded chicken sandwich(milensa) I think that’s how u spell it, is pretty good if they make it right. Only a thin slice of chicken though but still good

Everything is made to order. Tacos are everything you would expect them to be. Must Try!

As a native Californian, I have to say that this is easily some of the best Mexican food I have ever had period, let alone in NYC. Having been to NYC several times, and living in different parts, I had pretty much given up hope. I highly recommend the chorizo, al pastor, and bistec. The carnitas is worth mentioning as well. I think the burritos have a little too much rice, but the tacos, tostadas and cemitas are excellent. I won’t knock off a star because it is worth the wait, but do prepare to wait. The grill is fairly small and it is often busy with customers.

The Torta is the best there getting too pricey. I’ll give a 5 but they went to high with the menu I minus one star for that reason.

Barbacoa is only available Sunday and Monday apparently. The cecina taco is also very good. Best to go early in the week and get both!

After a few hours of shopping, we came in expecting takeout. We went to the back to set our bags down while we decided what we wanted to get. I wasn’t expecting a server to come and take our order, so it was nice. She was extremely polite and understood that I was going for takeout. I came home with my significant other and our meal was before us. Holy good mother of Jesus it was delicious. He ordered steak tacos and a burrito. I had a tostada and a cemita. That taco was absolutely amazing, so juicy, so good! The burrito was alright. Not worth the price. But it was better then other burritos in the area. The tostada was amaziiing. Juicy, perfect. Amazing. The seasoning on all the food was great and juicy. Mmm… The cemita was great. I just had to take out the pepper because it would’ve otherwise been too hot and ruin the experience. I am definitely going to come here another time. Wonderful and the staff was super nice.

I write this review not as I sit in Mexicali, but another Mexican restaurant less than half a mile away. My wandering mind wanders and what my heart really desires is to be sitting at Mexicali enjoying its succulent, scrumptious and remorsefully greasy chorizo taco, specially as I bite into this crunchy chorizo tostada and am overwhelmed by the piquant taste of oregano. There’s not much that needs to be done to chorizo folks. It’s already rich in flavor. «Why?», I wonder, while Los Terricolas croon a sad«Dos cosas» over the radio and now the song takes on a whole new meaning. Moral of the story: Mexicali is the closest we get to good authentic food around this neck of the woods. If you are nearby, go there instead.

Amazing food! The service is nothing to write home about, I always sense a slight attitude from the staff when I order. But maybe it’s just that I’ve got the chronic bitch face and they’re simply reacting accordingly… Anywho, it’s a Mexican grocery store/restaurant. There are a couple of seats in the back where you can have your food and down a couple of beers. The tacos are sooo good. They each bring two tortillas, and enough filling to split it into two. I usually get two tacos but it’s really like eating four. Unless you’ve got a huge appetite– then it’s really two. In the attempt to find more great Mexican spots, I went to see what the fuss was about at Taquería Taxlicalli, also in the Bronx. And let me tell you, it’s got NOTHING on this spot. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good, but it’s as overrated as this grocery is underrated. If you’re looking for delicious, authentic Mexican food, come on over to my neighborhood, the Norwood section of the Bronx, and check this place out.

ordered a chicken taco, carnitas taco and steak enchiladas in salsa Verde… didn’t touch thee carnitas taco, the meat looked gross. the enchiladas sauce was not spicy(as I was told it was«very spicy»).not even close. and the steak was flavorless yet cooked perfectly. wat a bummer!.lol.the salsa Verde sauce tasted as tho it wuld compliment a chicken enchilada very well… and last but not least the chicken taco was delicious!.the two sauce they provide with the tacos one green one red. both delicious tho the red is extremely spicy… so beware!

Fabulous AUTHENTIC Food! Whenever I’m in the neighborhood I try to stop over here. They have amazing tacos, burritos and enchiladas. *Tacos are filled with chicken or steak, cilantro, guacamole, and onions for only $ 2.50 each. Sooo worth it! *The enchiladas suizas, also worth it however the sauce is a little spicy for my taste buds. If you’re into spicy, it’ll be right up your alley. Addition 8÷2÷12… *Steak burrito– Hello!!! Ginormous and full of steak, rice, lettuce, tomato and guacamole. I ate the whole thing because I couldn’t stop myself, and it wasn’t little I can tell you that. Mixed with that spicy green sauce I can’t handle sometimes, it’s even better. Prices are highly reasonable! Looks can be deceiving because it’s a small deli but there is seating in the back of it. The staff are primarily Spanish speaking but they comprehend what you want. Just point to the menu if you have too. Highly recommend this place! NoM… nOm…NoM
