We had a group party at McDermott’s Pub and chose this location through a referral. Boy, was it a good time. The owner Big Mike was very warm and friendly. Food was pretty good. It was an overall enjoyable environment and I would suggest considering MCDermott’s Pub at Westchester Square.

As usual very down to earth and very casual. The Bronx needs more pubs like this one. The food is plentiful, reasonably priced and the beers are served in ice cold pint glasses. The A/C is crisp and cold, perfect for July and August in NYC. And in case the owner reads this… I overheard a customer say Christine the bartender is the best. I have to say I agree ;)

After reading all the good reviews here, I bought the certificate and came here to try. The beer was nice and cold but the hamburger… it was not on a bun but on a Kaiser roll… and it was like a few days old and it was toasted — so it was really dry and hard. I ordered the burger medium but it was cooked through, so it was DRY and really not flavorful at all. As for the french fries… who can really mess up the french fries. Oh, yes they did!!! It was not cooked enough and it was still raw inside. And then when I was ready to pay with my coupon on my iPhone… they said they don’t accept electronic coupon from the phone, it had to be printed out. That’s not what the stated in their website. I was not going to argue about the $ 5 coupon. It was a total loss except for the beer… you bet I exchanged all the certificates for McDermott’s as soon as I can from the but I couldn’t leave any reviews in their website. I wonder why??? Not coming back here!!!

After searching for a good bar I must say I finally found it. Went there this past Thursday night, the food was everything the other reviewers said it was. Wings are the best I’ve ever had and I’m a wing guy. My fiancé and I winded up going back again the next day. The service there is great. Bartenders take great care of the customers and the owner Big Mike is cool as hell. If you’re looking for a good bar with great food and great service then hands down this is it.

ATMOSPHERE I arrived here at 3AM to meet up with a friend celebrating his birthday here. YES they were still open with every bar seat filled at that time. There was no music as the DJ had begun to pack up but I was comfortable with the vibe of the place especially as my husband and I were the only African Americans in the bar. Shortly after the jukebox was set into motion and that complimented the busy pace of the bar. The kitchen had long closed so regretfully I did not get to try any of the grub STAFF&SERVICE The owner(Mike) introduced himself and had a down to earth, easy to talk to personality. My friends who have been here before were welcomed and serviced with a smile. My only ruffled moment was when returning from the ladies room I walked over to the bar and asked for 2 Coronas for my husband and I and was told a bit sarcastically…“I said LASTCALL. wouldn’t ya think that means no more is coming from the bar?” by a rather robust man tending the bar. I slid off after an icy stare and a «I was unaware of your statement but thanks all the same» which I uttered with sweet poison. CLEANLINESS The public areas of the place was tidy. The kitchen, although closed had pots which showed signs of long service, scattered all about. The pots appeared clean but left the impression that the kitchen staff breaks outta there in a hurry! The ladies room was not kept up throughout the day at all! There was no toilet paper and one was left to resort to the rough paper towels from the pull down dispenser on the wall. There was paper towel left discarded all over the floor and due to the smell of soaked in urine I couldn’t help thinking that even in my 4 inch stiletto heeled boots, I’d rather march through darkened wooded areas with only the light from my cellphone than to have to use the bathroom at McDermotts any longer than necessary. SUMMARY i intend to give the place another try at a more reasonable time in the evening before I make a decisive move about the whole place. I recommend it to others at this time due to the fact that I had a nice time overall and left without feeling unwelcome or traumatized. I also recommend it as they have great beer specials! Give it a shot for yourself and stay tuned for my update in the near future.

Actually called McDermotts now for a few years now. This place is pretty awesome. Pocket friendly prices on beverages and really great Wings. If I want wings, and I dont want to make them myself I always trust that they will make some crispy, juicy wings. I always order either the garlic spicy wings or the bbq. The regular buffalo wings seem under seasoned to me. The kitchen is open late probably until like 1 – 2 am. and its a great convenience for a night out! Lots of police officers, on and off duty come here to eat, but that doesn’t bother me ! Warning, I’ve had there Bloody Mary’s once and it was horrible! I asked if they make the mix themselves and the bartender told me they did. I think it’s better if they buy it ! Literally my only bad experience there! I still love them!

Perfect Burgers, wings and bar. I hate the rolls but the burger is too big for regular buns. Fantastic place, RIP Big tow truck Lou for showing me this place so many years ago,

I’m a fan. It amazes me that I used to live across the street from this place and never bothered to check it out. My mistake. Best wings hands down in the Bronx! Crispy, juicy and flavorful — you can’t go wrong. Service is friendly, bartenders are knowledgeable. What sold me aside from the food was how nice and personable the owner(Mike) is. He walked down the bar and actually sat with each group. He’s engaging and just a normal guy running a great business. I am totally a fan!

Wings are top notch and couldn’t be improved upon. The Buffalo Calamari was so ridiculous my boyfriend and I both had to call people and take pictures. There’s a lot of cops there, both current and retired, which is not my favorite thing, but everyone has been extremely chill both times i’ve been there. The turkey burger sucked but the buffalo calamari more than made up for it. They have one of those internet jukeboxes and sometimes it has free credits. Crowd sourced music has actually been stuff I like, so i’m hyped about that. Friendly older crowd(like middle aged). Bar tender is courteous. Fries are big fat steak fries. Beer selection is good. They have bottled cider… I think only one brand but I can’t remember which brand, probably woodchuck, I will try to remember to check. They have some huge barrel of jack and you can really order a shot from it, going to try that next time for sure.

Great place for a bite to eat and great drinks. They have a large variety on the menu. The buffalo shrimp and buffalo wings are scrumptious. Long Island Iced Tea was tasty, not overbearing like some and the Co Co LoSo was delicious!

The wings and the nachos are as good as you can get. And i ve had a fair share of both. Great random find at around 1 am. As far as beers… The usual suspects… Coors light, bud, bud light, stella, guinness… The owner which I am assuming goes by «big Mike» … Great guy and very hospitable.

I kinda like this place, even though it’s pretty dead. Nice long bar, with table booths partitioned off to the side, even a room in back. If they strung up funky Christmas lights, and transplanted it into the East Village, it would be packed on weekends. But Westchester Square ain’t the Village… They serve a decent Guinness on tap, and they buy back… the crowd is mostly hispanic, who typically aren’t big drinkers. The waitress is friendly enough. Just not a lot going on in this neighborhood.

Never had a bad meal at Doyles. The chicken wings are perfect… crispy, medium spicy, and delicious. They serve them with plenty of veggie sticks too. Not a huge beer selection, but you can get a pint of Guinness or a bottled Sam Adams.
