Okay, I have to be honest after reading some of the reviews for this place I was a little hesitant, but I don’t think I could live with myself if I pass a restaurant with what appears to be perfectly cooked pork on the window and go to a McDonalds(I just couldn’t do it). So I get a «lunch»(short for –everything together in one plate in the Spanish NYC restaurant language) Pernil(Roast Pork Shoulder) white rice and beans with a small $ 4 leaves tomatoes carrots and Avocado salad on the side. Rice and beans, just regular… Pernil was very good and plenty, And they even gave me a piece of the«cuerito» skin. The food was good, I can’t speak for the service since my order was to go, But the little service I did received was right on par with all the other restaurants in the area. Overall food was good Pernil was better than good. Extra star for the«Cuerito» and to off-set the bad reviews that just rate the service and not the food… At a restaurant.

Love love love this place. Family favorite. Their monfongo de pollo is amazing. The lechon cooked to perfection, each meal flavorful and nicely portioned. Family has been going here for years and even with a bit of a break, we return as if we never stopped. It’s the must to place to visit when I am in the Bronx.

I love this place. The food is great. I always order pernil by the pounds and whole chickens for my parties. I can never complain about the quality and taste of food. The morcilla is amazing! The only thing I wish they would work on is their service. The servers/waitress need a class or two in customer service and in English. Nonetheless, if you want great good then it shouldn’t matter.

When I’m too lazy to go to El Bohio Lechonera I go to La Criolla. Although not as good it still gives me my Boricua food fix. Usually get a whole Chicken or 1lb of pernil(roast pork) with rice, beans, and a green salad. You also get a soda with the family meal. The food is always full of flavor with large portions. Definitely beats going to Taco Bell/KFC, White Castle, and McDonald’s.

I’ve tried to eat here several times, every time I’ve walked in here to order. The wait time has been ridiculous. They know your waiting & yet they don’t acknowledge you. They continue doing what ever they are doing & have no qualms about leaving you standing there waiting around. I usually get annoyed and walk out. Still have yet to taste the food & I’m tried of trying.

The food was indeed very tasting and well severed. If you are looking to taste a dish from the Island of Puerto Rico this is a great place to go to I assure you that you will love the food and the PPL there. They do have a parking lot for your car.

A hole in the wall but this is the place to be for the best pernil in NYC. And it’s a bargain too! Great mofongo, morcilla and sancocho too.
