This hotel is an area where it has been notorious for prostitution for over 30 years, even tho the hotel has been cleaned up in the past 10 years, it still has that stigma

Such a convient location, reasonably priced but the room appearance is disgusting. I spent the night in one of their rooms, a smoking room and let me just say it was not as pictured. The wallpaper was peeling off. Their was garbage still in the bathroom. A waterbug by the door. A tv with only 2 channels(foreign channels at that). The sheets had cigarette burns. The room looked as if it hadnt been clean for a while… dust was on the furniture. And even the telephone was outdated! If you want a bang for your bug with good customer service and cleanliness… Check out the Airbnb app, and book a room. It would be cheaper and more comfortable. kim

I saw a mouse scurry across my room in the middle of the day with all the lights on … I immediately packed all my stuff and left I hope there’s no mouse in my suitcase :-(. It’s was $ 125 a night …

This is one of the cheapest places in the Bronx to stay, has a generally hospitable staff, and provides the most basic of services. The MTA is a few hundred feet away,(but two major streets need to be crossed and a tall flight of stairs must be taken to reach it). These facts alone makes Howard Johnson merit a 3 star rating. However, many rooms have a very strong smell of smoke. Half of the rooms facing the MTA train tracks are plagued by very loud commuter train noises.

This place is nothing short of a run down, unsafe, bug infested shithole. The room was dusty, smelled and there were bedbug carcasses on the off-white sheets. The housekeeper insisted that they weren’t bedbugs, but another species of bug; any bug shouldn’t be justified. Overall, staff are rude and unprofessional.

I will never stay their I find the ppl their racist they rent rooms to go they want to. Now from the outside to people I look like I’m 1819 but I’m in my early forties. Doesn’t look like my age reservation and when I got there they was trying to deny me service because I look young. OK there’s a train right there 2&5 line train back and forth mevI’m a New Yorker it doesn’t bother me. But out of towners you won’t like it so the prices like 150 after taxes 165 now for the neighborhood and the noise that’s way overly priced. And the breakfast is dry cereal and milk. That’s may have been out for the day before. Now they try to stop form herbing. They smell it they can black list you on the Hotel registry. Every hotel has. And that’s for 1yr whatever hotel you call you won’t be able to get one but they won’t tell you. they just say sorry nothing right now so see how many other hotel branches there with. I stay three times and all three times were not great and they have mice and bed bugs which I took home that was my last time staying there. I was so angry with that place. Money I have to pay to get rid of those things OoOooo

First of, it was my first trip to NY. I decided to stay there because my girlfriend’s family live around there. To start, the picture that was in the booking section was completely different And looked bad in person. As soon as we walked in, we heard a couple asking the front desk«how much for 2 hours?»(I am sure you can imagine what they were going to do). After we get the key to our room. We walked in and none of the lights came on. checked the toilet and had a huge black stain and we went up to the front desk and requested another room. The management there is horrible. They will not help you on anything. Also, i heard when i was walking out, 4 people complaining about bed bugs and they could not stop itching. We stayed 9 nights and it was very convenient, we had the train station 2 blocks away so it’s very easy to go to manhattan and the Bronx zoo is in a walking distance, also there are several restaurants around the area and a supermarket, the room was vey comfortable with cable tv, microwave, a/c and fridge, one of the things I liked the most was the very fast and stable Internet service they have for free. The only thing I didn’t like was the breakfast, they jus had bread, cereal, juice and coffee and only 2 tables(breakfast are too small), also we didnt like the area due to the kind of people that is around(solicitors, drug addicts, etc) but we did not have any issues or problems with that at all, you can see the nypd passing around very frequently so that made us feel a little more safe. Overall is a very good option for NY tourists like us with a low budget.

Yes, this seems to be one of the cheapest places to stay in New York(thanks to Priceline, at least). Yes, this seems to have it all: free internet, parking, and breakfast. Yes, the subway is literally right outside the window. But honestly, the subway does not stop screeching. I mean, every half hour you might very well be shook awake, afraid that your nails are being pulled out of your finger sockets. Plus, the neighborhood is run-down, people hang out on the streets late at night(I got home around 4 from a long night of partying in the Upper East Side, and there were plenty of people outside the hotel… if you look tough, they won’t bother you), and you just wish you could park your car in a place that’s actually secure. The internet worked fine, at least. Yankee Stadium isn’t too far(but you will need to take the subway). And hey, the subway takes you everywhere in this town. Make no mistake, though, this is no family hotel, nor a romantic getaway. But it is cheap. Hopefully your car doesn’t get stolen, because that’s the thought that ran through my mind every couple of hours.

This place was allright for a cheap place to stay, I found it via . Within walking distance of the Subway station, the walk from the Subway was short and well lit. The room was clean and the bed confortable. It is a little noisy if you stay on the sreet side since you will hear the subway running, but I was able to sleep.
