A neighborhood professional vision center dedicated to clinical excellence. The eye exam is comprehensive including testing for glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration and a full list of ocular problems. We have computerized visual field analysis, digital retinal photography and glaucoma diagnostic imaging to better care for your eyes. Dry eye suffers can be treated with OTC drops, restasis, punctal occlusion and a full list of treatment plans. Dr. Contento is a Certified Low Vision Specialist. Dr. Kaplan is a Contact Lens Specialist for keratoconus and other eye problems.

Our state of the art in office lab run by Optician Ethan J. Brown, former NYS optician of the year and current President of the NYS Optician’s Society. Glasses in and hour in most cases.

History

Established in 1992.

Eye Care Unlimited started in 1992 on Crosby Avenue by Drs Contento and Kaplan. Dr Contento grew up in the Bronx where he attended OLA, Cardinal Spellman HS, Fordham University. Dr. Kaplan attended Washington University in St. Louis. They both got their Doctor of Optometry degree at SUNY. The practice developed into a premier practice through careful comprehensive care and an extensive co-​management relationship with several surgical centers and Ophthalmology Practices. Dr Annette Contento, also a SUNY Optometry grad has built a following of patients for almost 20 years.

Ethan, Virgil, Raffaelina, and Sophia, have been helping grow our practice for years.

Dr. Contento specializes in Low Vision and laser surgery and is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Laser Eye Institute of the University Eye Center.

Dr. Kaplan specializes in contact lenses and dry eye and is Director of Cornea, Contact Lenses and Refractive Technology at SUNY and Attending at NY Eye and Ear Infirmary.
