Concourse Plaza Multiplex Cinemas

So they got a face lift… but inside is the same crappy, ugly looking theather. Same crappy slow service. It was 45 min just to TRY get food from the concessions stands which was a fail… I decided to quit and get my money back. Went downtown instead.

This bum a** movie theater is always dirty. There is always food everywhere, floors are always sticky. Kid seats are always dirty, I had to clean one myself for my son. They have like 8 concession counters but only 3 – 4 are open, the lines are hella long, the workers take forever to get what you want. That’s on a regular bases.
Today the security guard decided to stop my brother over a flat bookbag he was wearing. No book bags allowed is the new policy since 4 days ago. Which is fine, but a messager bags were allowed in, designer big bags were, and store bags (ex: H&M, old navy). Security guard decided to pick my brother out and fck with him. Right after he was extremely rude to my husband.
If I could give no stars I would, I only come here cause of Family Tuesday. I need to find a new place.

Yes, this whole plaza is being renovated which is great! Finally an update to the old theaters. But there is no reason that it should smell like a farm in one of their biggest rooms. When reaching room 1, you slightly smell something off. When you sit down, the strong smell of urine hits you in the face. I have been going here as a kid only reason I didn’t give it 1 star.

Now that they’ve raised prices to Manhattan levels (went from 9.50 to 12.50), there is 0 reason to go here. You’re better off spending the subway fare to go to another theater.
Staff are incredibly slow, theaters are filled with unsupervised children and people who never stop talking, seats are broken, some of the theaters smell disgusting, and one theater actually had a hole in the ceiling where water was leaking in.

If you decide to go please do order snacks like 30 mins before show time. Three staff members working.

I almost canceled my plans to go to this cinema after reading some of awful reviews. I decided to go and find out for myself since this theater is now one of ONLY TWO theaters in the entire Bronx (sad!) and it is the closest to me. I’m happy to report to Unilocalers that it’s safe and clean and almost nothing like some of the hater reviewers are talking about. I went on a Thursday at 3:30 pm. They have an ongoing special that all movies are $ 7.50 Mon — Thur before 7pm. I don’t know how long it will last so take advantage of it. The day I went: the theater was clean, the bathroom was freshly mopped and had a floral scent to it, and the staff was friendly. I’m not into concession food but I checked it out just to see what the haters were talking about. There was your typical movie concession food — boxes of candy, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, hot dogs, and popcorn. Should be no problems there for people who are into that. No, the popcorn is not freshly pop but does any movie cinema in the country do that anymore? And I don’t know any theater that give free refills on soda either.
Now for where you sit down to watch your movie: This was gonna be the deal breaker for me because I do not like sticky floors, broken chairs, or vermin running around. When I walked into my movie’s theater, it had more than adequate lighting to find a seat (this was before the previews started and the pre-​show stuff was on the screen). The floors were CLEAN! I could tell because it was a light gray color and it was mopped. The seats were comfortable and I could tell they were installed within the last couple of years. And there were NO rats or roaches. I was very happy because I didn’t know what to expect from some of the previous reviews. Don’t listen to them because they are just miserable haters who like to make themselves feel good by putting others or other communities down. I enjoyed my movie and my overall experience here and will definitely be coming back.
I can’t speak for coming here at night for a movie. When you go to movies at night you will run into undesirables NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE. So be careful. I can say, the cinema is across from the court house and Yankee Stadium is a few blocks away so I imagine security is tight in the area ²⁴⁄₇. Also a plus is you have a lot transportation options. If you drive the plaza has pay parking. There are numerous MTA buses that go by this area. The 4, B & D Trains and MetroNorth (the Yankee Stadium stop is a short walk away) are also in the area.

Overheard on the concession stand line: «Oh, I’m seeing Grudge Match, that movie with Kevin Hart.»
That about sums up the crowd here. Do not come here expecting to see a good movie, nor a movie in which the crowd isn’t talking along with the actors on screen, at the same volume.
Speaking of concession too, this chain is one of the worst. The large popcorn is about the size of a medium at other chains and there are no refills on anything. The popcorn was also stale and super buttery, even without any butter added, leaving me doubly sick from that and Kevin Hart.
The concession stand workers also move and look the way you should if you were working at this depressing, dark theater, located past an annoying walk through a dank parking garage.
Avoid this place if possible. There don’t seem to be many other theaters nearby, but it’s probably worth traveling to a further one to have a chance at a good moviegoing experience.

I really don’t have anything negative to say about the theater accept that they sit by idle and allow a culture that makes it nearly impossible for a person to enjoy a film. If it isn’t teenage degenerates, it’s inconsiderate parents forcing everyone else to endure their child’s incessant crying, if it’s not crying babies it’s ignorant morons who think the movie needs color commentary. Staff rarelycomes in the theater to do rounds and when they do they don’t do anything about the disturbances. I live in this neighborhood and frequent this establishment often but purely out of convenience because it’s a horrible places to watch a movie.

Let me start by saying that this is the hood I don’t really expect it to be great looking and it’s under construction right now. All the shops are shut down inside the concourse plaza but the movie theatre is still open. Which is a good thing. The prices went down. Until Christmas the movies are 7.50 $. Ummmm. My boyfriend screamed I got scared like wth!!! He was like u saw that and I’m like no? What? He said I just saw a rat. I started to laugh. So we say with our feet high. Anyways…
I mean the prices are great the movies are the same played in other theaters but with a lower price and it’s a little ruined down. I go here regularly and when I saw that everything was covered I was sad cuz it was a food court. But maybe there cleaning the place and renovating it to make it better. The movie was great the pretzel nuggets were good with cheese dip. So it was a cheap movie night. But who cares as long as your in good company any place is great ;)

I have really outgrown you!
I ask myself now that I am older what exactly was I thinking hanging around here as a teenager? Now I realize what the older heads used to think of us when we were younger just on stand-​by not really doing much but looking like we were looking for trouble. Now I take a hundred safety precautions when I bring the kiddies here to watch a movie. I try to make sure its daylight and not so crowded.
This place has gotten worse since my younger years, calling it ghetto is still and understatement. Would this still be considered a shopping center?, I don’t see anything of value that is worth purchasing. I refuse to eat anything here as well, I try to feed the kiddies before coming out here or convince them of a better eatery away from here. You would think with the Criminal Court across the street with its 30 police paddy wagons posted out front would attract more pleasant, safe people to this area. Wow the total opposite, no one is phased by it here.
My visits will just be for the $ 7 showings, if Im desperate to watch something but not interested going downtown or a matinée for the kiddies on weekend mornings. Dont get me wrong they are a fairly good theater but the people it attracts just makes your experience distasteful… they need a serious improvement to make

Horrible theater not because of the location and borough it resides but the people it attracts. Immature, ghetto and loud people. If your looking to relax and watch a movie peacefully good luck in this theater, most of the time you will be hearing done shouting and commentary throughout the movies showing from the ppl there

My Grandma lived right by Yankee Stadium for decades.
So you then would take a walk down and across the grand concourse to check out the plaza.
Now im 24 and when i was 5 – 10 as ghetto as this place was, for the people that lived around here this place had it all .
I used to love the actual theater area bc they had so many things like the big Button pictures (i still have them all), t-​shirts, all these cool creative carts, there were plenty of food choices and no the theater wasn’t the nicest but it was cheap n local.
I had jury duty today and had an hour and a half to kill so warily decided to go grab a bite in the plaza. The whole building is under some kind of construction because there were only two restaurants open, it was all closed off and it just looked sad.
Reminds me of Loew’s Theatre on Fordham :(wish it could be fixed for memories sake.

HAHAHAHAHA… Sorry I had to laugh before writing this review. For every stereotype you can think about The Bronx/​the hood/​and everything that can go wrong at a movie theatre… CONCOURSE PLAZA MULTIPLEX CINEMAS will never disappoint. Yes they do have an awesome deal on tuesday to watch any movie for 6 dollars but I believe it went up to 7. The best day to go is any day but tuesday… the reason you say??? Every household that has 7 Plus members will show up. They should really give out personal headphones on tuesday because you wont even have a chance to enjoy whatever movie you came to see. If you want to save money and you hate yourself, go check out Concourse Plaza Multiplex Cinemas!!!

Definitely ghetto. I would go on occasion because of convenience and price. However, my boyfriend’s recent visit there with his son has made it not worth it for me to go anymore. The majority of the food court restaurants are now closed, including the McDonald’s. When in the theater, he and his son, along with the few other people there had to see movie with feet up on chair because there was a mouse running around. When they reported it an usher came with a broom and dust pan, moved the broom around pretending to do something, then just walked back out. Lucky I wasn’t there. I would have yelled mouse and demanded my money back. Disgusting!

Pretty convenient for locals who don’t feel like traveling to catch a quick movie. I have to admit I’ve been here multiple times and enjoyed it I love the fact that you pay $ 7 on Tuesday’s and of course nothing in life is perfect this location have really old seats and can get a bit uncomfortable if sitting for a long time. Also it smells funny and it’s not because it’s near the bathroom but it smells something like mildew like pipe water also don’t like the fact that they only have one credit/​debit machine to purchase your tickets. Overall I will eventually come again since I live just a 10 minutes walk away. And about this place being ghetto well thats right it is ghetto but what can you expect the Bronx is ghetto.

The place is ghetto. Bootleggers line the entire plaza. But this should be expected. Unless you are new to the area you know this place is in the hood. Like, calm down and take it back five notches. Why would an upscale theatre be trust in the middle of the «Broken Down» Bronx? Gentrification clearly has not made its way up there. THIS IS NOT THE MAGIC JOHNSON.
Back in the day, this movie theatre was where it was at. And I mean almost twenty years ago, which is really way back when. At the time, it was the newest and most easily accessible option. This place has significantly fallen off since then. The food court is abysmal, with eateries coming and going for years. There is no real shopping to do. It is located in a mall that never was. There was this hope that it would be more than it was. Surrounded by the Bronx County Criminal Court and Yankee Stadium being a few blocks away, there was optimism that this would be an area that people would for some reason want to be.
I come here to support my neighborhood, because it is convenient to my house and it is cheaper than a Manhattan movie theatre. The clientele may leave much to be desired, but the staff have always been friendly and professional when I have been there. The floors are sticky and there is the unique smell of old, stale soda. But I can deal with this when I only come to matinees and discount day shows, which happen to be 7 bucks.

I don’t care what deals they have or whatever it is that entices others to come in to this place, there is nothing on this earth that will make me sit in a theater that smells like urine.
It is gross! The theater smells like a urinal and the chairs are so worn down you would probably benefit from sitting on the floor… oohhh forgot the floors have a thick layer of Hi C fruit punch you’ll stick to the floor too.
Just walking in to the place feels hoodtastic! They have street vendors trying to sell you socks and stickers. It’s so sad it’s funny. The movies could be free and I still wouldn’t go watch a movie here.

This place has a deal where you can watch movies for $ 6 on tuesdays! It does smell like pee though and that can get annoying. The ticket prices are like $ 2 less than in manhattan… Big whoop. It’s easy to sneak in food from the food court… But the popcorn is really good. Always ask for half and half. The arm rest don’t go up and some of them don’t have cup holders… But it is a nice place to just go when you need to watch a movie

The theater stinks and the seats are old and uncomfortable. I was scared they had bed bugs thats how dirty it felt. the only good thing is the prices are very reasonable.

I used to come here a lot when I was a kid because I had no choice, but I would never ever watch a movie here ever again. This theater shows their true colors on reflection of their staff and movie theater in general. The floors are ALWAYS sticky which unless you’re using the line from Dane Cook about the floors, it isn’t a good thing. The chairs are extremely old and feel like wood since all of the stuffing has worn off over the years. Additionally, this place tends to be crowded, smells and people are ALWAYS talking during the film.
If you have the time and doesn’t mind spending a few extra bucks, go downtown and actually enjoy the movie instead of settling for this place.
