The Cary Leeds Center for Tennis & Learning is a year round multi use facility set in a Crotona Park in the Bronx. The center offers a full range of junior (ages 3 – 18) and adult tennis programs year-​round. The Cary Leeds Center also offers year-​round afterschool programs as well as community tennis programs that serve 30,000 kids in the surrounding community. We also offers private instruction with some of the tri-​state area’s best tennis professionals as well as seasonal indoor court rentals.

The state-​of-​the-​art facility includes 20 courts (10 outdoor and 10 covered from October — April), with 2 additional exhibition courts to be completed in Summer 2016. We have a two-​story 12,000 square-​foot clubhouse for tennis players, youth education and community activities.

The Cary Leeds Center for Tennis & Learning is minutes away from Manhattan, Westchester, Yonkers and Queens.

History

Established in 2015.

With a vision to serve the youth of New York City by creating a world-​class facility that is a magnet for families, NYJTL, in partnership with numerous personal, corporate and government donors, opened the Cary Leeds Center for Tennis & Learning in 2015.

There are 30,000 children in more than 45 schools directly surrounding Crotona Park. The Cary Leeds Center for Tennis & Learning offers these underserved students a quiet and safe place to benefit from a wide range of academic support, including tutoring, homework assistance, test preparation, project-​based learning, and college readiness programming. The center includes a library and study center, classroom space, teachers and counselors.

Meet the Manager

Ron N.

Manager

Ron started playing tennis at the age of 9, by age 11 he was competing in USTA Eastern, National and ITF Tournaments. He earned the #1 ranking in the USTA Eastern Section in each age group. He played Varsity Tennis for the University of Michigan, graduating in 2000. Ron is USPTA and PTR certified and is a graduate of the USTA’s High Performance Coaching Program. Ron joined NYJTL in 2007 as the Director of Advanced Training and served as the Senior Director of Operations, overseeing all NYJTL Programs. Ron has been the GM of the Cary Leeds Center for Tennis & Learning since 2014.

Throughout Ron’s coaching career, he has helped countless juniors reach the highest competitive levels. In December of 2012, Ron was appointed to the USTA National Schools Committee, charged with Middle School/​High School Tennis which involves developing strategy, content, and best practices to establish student tennis clubs and no-​cut tennis teams.
