By far the best food near Loyola Medical Center. Yes, it’s divey, but oh man those al pastor tacos are so good and the family that runs the business are always good to me. Highly recommended.

Yikes. When I first went in here, I noticed that it was a little scrungy. I was starving, so I grabbed a menu and ordered two tacos(one avocado and one chile relleno) anyway. I was given my drink and a small basket of chips & salsa and headed to my seat. As I sat there, I noticed how dirty the place really was. The doors were dirty, the area over the grill was dirty, the walls in the kitchen looked dirty. Every single ceiling tile had black stuff coming around the corners. Mold? Gross. My food was ready pretty quickly, but was fairly tasteless. I’m not sure how I expected them to spice up the avocado taco, but even after I put some of the salsa verde on it, it was still bland. The tortillas were warm, but the chese on the taco had not been warmed or melted in anyway. The chile taco was not even hot enough to melt the cheese in the center of the chile, and by the end was kind of greasy. I wanted it to be good, because it’s close and cheap, but it really just wasn’t.
