History

Established in 1996.

A-​1 Piano Tuning was born from a passion for piano playing in 1996. In 1995, Mark Hitrick, founder and Piano Technician, purchased his first Grand Piano for his home. When the piano dealer sent their piano tuner to Mark’s home he had an epiphany. «Hey, I could learn how to do this and have something to do in my retirement.»

Within a few months Mark was tuning pianos for free for family and friends. Within a year he was tuning for paying customers. After about 7 or 8 years, Mark’s part time business had grown to where he could barely keep up with the demand in his area. A few years later, the company Mark worked for moved out of state and he took up the profession of piano tuning, regulation and repair full time.

Now Mark has a very busy and active tuning schedule encompassing 16 School Districts, numerous churches and countless private homes. Mark is sought after for high level concert tunings and is an active member of the Adirondack-​Hudson Chapter of the Piano Technician Guild
