Conveniently located just a few blocks from the guy’s mother’s house, this is the go-to-liquor/wine store in the area. While not an extremely large selection(or a large space at all), Viola’s has all you need — and a little extra– to stock your fridge or host a party. They have many local vineyard wines, which is always a treat to find as you can rarely find them elsewhere, along w the basics you’d expect at any wine and spirits store. They also stock beer, which is nice, since in Ny you typically need to make two stops to find both, along w a few snacks like chips and such. The owner and counter people were nice, asking us if we needed help w anything and laughing at our –bad– jokes. Will be back. But that’s a given.

Smaller selection Open early, stay ’till late Craft beer selection When you see the silver garland and blue christmas lights along Wood St., you’ll have found Violas. It’s my go-to on the way out to a friends place, or anytime I’m not shopping for wine. Not to say they don’t have a decent wine selection, but there are other much more diverse selections within a 5 minute drive. The real draw for me here is the diverse selection of smaller craft and specialty beers. They keep a lot of it in coolers behind the counter, so asking is always the most expedient way to find the perfect brew. Sure, they sell all the normal college beers(it is near Roger Williams after all,) but if you’re looking for something like a Dogfish Head seasonal, Oatmeal Stout, etc., Violas will have what you’re looking for or a reasonably similar substitute. I love that they’re also the last store in the area to close, and the first to open. It’s a little neighborhood shop, and it seems that every time I go in there there’s some sort of Bristol town reunion. Love it.
