The Haunted Graveyard

Dang. This is the stuff. I’ve never done any haunted experience like this before, but there were so many awesome details and real frights. You will get your money’s worth!
Even if you’re walking fast, it will take an hour to get through. There are 200 actors — read: 200 opportunities to get seriously spooked — throughout the «graveyard.» In 2015, there were at least 20 separate «rooms,» including a graveyard, butchery, church… I won’t spoil it, but there are some really awesome things done with lights, too. The actors are not allowed to touch you, but they will definitely get super close and appear out of nowhere!
I appreciated that there were also many security people — wearing «security» on their shirts — throughout the graveyard, and they didn’t take away from the experience but were present just enough to make you feel super safe.
Definitely wear comfortable walking shoes.
Really unique, scary experience. While I highly recommend it, I will never do it again, ha!

This attraction gets bigger and better every year! Changing themes, over 200 actors and 6 separate haunts make this better than the average local haunted house. Be prepared to spend some time as it’s a 45 minute walk through ghouls, monsters, cannibals, werewolves, vampires, witches and the just plain creepy. Optical illusions are part of the tour so if you have issues with strobe lighting or fake fog, you are forewarned. Certainly one of the top Halloween attractions in New England!

Awesome experience! It gets better every year and continues to exceed expectations. The sets were detailed, the actors were great, and the trail was long enough to put on a good show. They add new sets every year. I like the different scenes on the trail… they explored different phobias or fears that people may have. The Haunted Graveyard at Lake Compounce should be everyone’s Halloween tradition.

Truly fantastic. The sets (for lack of a better term) were awesome, the actors were well costumed and were really into their roles. Definitely jumped a few times myself, but for those who don’t scare easily the experience is really entertaining to say the least. I liked how they even altered the smell to go with the themes in a few sets. This was my first time going, I will definitely go back next year, if not possibly doing a second round of it this year!

Hands Down the best haunted attraction in all of New England. Having been someone who attends every haunted attraction I can in a three hour drive radius, I will tell you this is the best. Worth the money and it is incredibly well themed. The actors are great and they will have you terrified and laughing at the same time. Show up early in the night for minimal wait times, but even if you do have to wait, it is absolutely worth it. I hate to play the name game, but it is 10 times better than trail of terror, pure terror screampark, and even headless horseman in Ulster Park, NY. Fantastic and a must see. Fun for the entire family@

I’ve been to Lake Compounce plenty of times through school and camp fields trips, but for some reason I’ve never given the Haunted Graveyard a shot when October rolled around. So this year it happened with a group of friends, some who have done it in previous years and some who haven’t.
The setup was great, a huge castle exterior to tower over the line you wait in with workers dressed up in creepy costumes patrolling you while you move forward. Once you get to the front they give you a quick safety precautionary and let you loose inside of the trail. The scenery is very well done, especially for a small amusement park like Lake Compounce. The actors did a great job interacting with everyone and doing their best to scare the crap out of us (it worked a few times). Lots of indoor and outside parts as well, so you don’t feel entirely constricted to being inside of a house. I can see myself coming back again next year since we had such a good time.
CAUTION: For those of you who have problems with claustrophobia, flashing lights or loud noises, this event might not be for you since this goes on throughout the whole walk.

I’m keeping this review short and simple.
First time at this attraction and I enjoyed it. The whole thing is a walk through which takes about 40 minutes. If you can’t handle being scared, walk in the middle of the group so you’re not the first to encounter the actors. Some parts really scary and other parts comical. It’s a fun thing to do with a group of friends and I would return.

It was ok attraction way to many people but it was cool went here from ny took 3 hours it was worth it cus made a road trip out of it

The Haunted Graveyard at Lake Compouse is one of the best Halloween attractions around. We were doing dozens of Halloween events each October in the past, but now we only do Lake Compounse Haunted Graveyard and the local (for me) Luna Park.
Lake compounse’s Haunted Graveyard is almost a full hour of chills and thrills… no quickie walk-​thru here. Lake Compounse is scary, eerie and fun…
Some of the rides are open (too bad no haunted sky-​ride) and harvest foods are available.

First and foremost, I am not good with scary things. Movies, haunted houses, the works I usually get nightmares. However, my best friend convinced me to go with her to the Haunted Graveyard at Lake Compounce because we could go on the rides while waiting for our time to go into the Graveyard, something I thought was such a huge bonus for a relatively inexpensive price.
What soothed my nerves I think was the reassurance that nothing or nobody could touch you. It’s always a big fear of mine to be grabbed while in a haunted house, so the reassurance was wonderful. Once I calmed down from that, I could take in the amazing job the park does with the Graveyard. There are dozens of detailed and different areas you explore while walking on a path to the end. I loved the Mayan temple & the Wizard of Oz forest the most, and the ending with the «Fear Rooms» really scared the you-​know-​what out of me. Overall, while I got scared multiple times while taking the 40 – 45 minutes to get through the graveyard, I was soothed by the overall awe I felt for the effort. A+ Lake Compounce, I definitely would do this again next year!

This is the best haunted attraction in New England. Hands down.
I just went to the Haunted Graveyard for the 4^th year in a row this past weekend, and I was just as impressed by it this year as I was the first time I went.
The Graveyard consists of 23 totally distinct areas — some large and some small — that flow into one another seamlessly, making for a totally entertaining and absolutely astounding 45-​minute walk that’s sure to startle you at least a few times, no matter how crowded it is. Afraid of vampires? They’ve got you covered. Don’t like the dark? They’re on top of that, too. Torture chambers? Check. Blood and guts? Of course. Did the Wicked Witch of the West give you nightmares as a kid… well, look out, buddy — there are 20 of her waiting for you in the forest. They’ve conjured up everything from arachnids to zombies and everything in between, so you can be sure your phobia will get equal time.
Here are the things that the Haunted Graveyard does better than anyone else:
*ACTORS!!! They have the biggest haunted attraction around, and they actually have the dozens and dozens of actors necessary to pull it off. This place doesn’t depend on animatronics and fog machines to scare the bejeezus out of you (although they do have those, and they’re amazingly well-​done)… they have *people* for that.
*They change things up and improve upon them just enough year after year to keep even seasoned veterans guessing. Just between last year and this year, two or three entirely new areas sprung up — the revised Mayan temple is particularly impressive.
*The sheer size of this place makes it more than worth the price of admission. It really does take about 45 minutes to walk through everything, and I guarantee that your adrenaline will be pumping the entire time.
One final note — this place is at Lake Compounce, and the park really goes crazy for Halloween. The decorations and theming that they put up in every area are professional-​looking and really plentiful. AND for one low price (around $ 30 without a coupon), you can get admission to both the haunted attraction and all of the rides in the park. That, my friends, is an amazing deal.
If you live in New England and you love Halloween, you must go here. I don’t care if you’re from Maine and it’s a 7 or 8 hour drive… get a cheap hotel room and make a weekend out of it. This place is absolutely, positively worth it.
UPDATE FOR 2010: The Haunted Graveyard is STILL my favorite haunted attraction in New England, even after visiting it for 5 years straight.
