This is a working pottery located in rural Vermont on a former dairy farm. The pottery is open most days from 10 – 6. It is best to call ahead if traveling from a distance. The barn serves as a clay studio and pottery showroom. The farm house provides space for a weaving studio and is home to potter Robert Compton and his wife, Christine, who is a hand weaver.
Robert specializes in hand thrown pottery that is Wood Fired, Salt Glazed, Reduction Fired Stoneware, Pit Fired Pottery and Raku. He fires his work in a large Noborigama kiln as well as a Gas Fired Car Kiln, Pit Kiln and Raku Kiln. Robert is able to make pottery that reflects the unique qualities of each of these processes.
