Bayporter Express Airport Shuttle Service

the worst service. i was sent a driver who had terrible vision so he was driving at 30 miles an hour. from berkeley decided to take the back street of emeryville and west oakland at 30 miles an hour. what would normally be a 15 minute drive from my house to the freeway took over half an hour. he can’t drive fast at the freeway because he’s blind as a bat. my flight is at 9:30 pm. i called bayporter and the manager told me to get off at the freeway and find my own cab at my expense! now that’s service for you. the van is a 4-​car distance away from the next. i paid a good amount of money for my business class ticket and i will nit hesitate to take bayporter to court if i miss my flight. i have been a customer of Bayporter since the early 90s, but since the change in ownership, the service has grown increasingly shoddy. maybe i
should have waited 15 more minutes for Über. he keeps running over the lane dividers because he can’t see.

Utterly useless. I called because I didn’t see anywhere on the website reservation screen to enter a residential address. The woman on the phone was rude and short with me. She just kept insisting I do it again and that there was a place to enter an address, even though I told her the only options were for «University» and «Hotel.» She said no one else was available, then she passed me to the driver, who promptly put me on hold and didn’t come back.
Ya’ll just lost yourself a customer. SuperShuttle, here I come! (I’ve just discovered SuperShuttle’s website is user-​friendly and has an easy way to enter your address by looking up your zip code first.)

The only positive is that he got me there. But neither he nor the dispatcher listened when I said I was headed to «Courtyard Oakland Emeryville». He took me to a Marriott in Oakland, rather than a Courtyard in Emeryville. And kept mumbling «they’re all Marriotts…»

Love this company. Simple efficient processes for booking a ride on the shared van, and confirming once before travel. Personable and genuinely helpful drivers. $ 38 to get to SFO from one’s East Bay doorstep, well worth the price.
This services takes the stress out of air travel, which for me is mostly around getting to the airport on time.

This was once my favorite option for transportation to and from Oakland airport. No more. I had a 6:30pm reservation tonight for pick up at OAK. I finally called at 6:42 when the van did not arrive. The woman on the phone asked «Did you call?» I said, «No, I made an online reservation. The pick up time was 6:30.» «Oh,» she said, «you need to call to let us know you’re there so we know to send a van.» I asked, «Why, when I have a reservation, do I need to call?» «Well,» she replied, «you need to call and let us know you’re there; it says so on the website.» I just checked the website, again, and I do not find any such requirement. I settled for a 7:00pm pick up. I was met by a rather surly driver who wan’t sure how to get to my address. He had no gps. I gave him directions; wanted to be sure I got delivered to the right place. I may try them one more time; maybe this was just a bad day. But it was a REALLY bad day. I’ll think at least twice next time.

Excellent service this morning from Bayporter from east bay to SFO. Driver was friendly, courteous and strategic in circumventing traffic jams!

If you actually want to get to the airport, or be picked up when you arrive DO NOT CALL BAYPORTER EXPRESS. Even if you make an advanced reservation, their drivers are late. They’ll insist on picking you up an hour earlier than you need to be picked up simply to accommodate their schedule. And they’ll tell you to call when you arrive, to confirm your reservation, but no one will answer except a recording saying «your call is very important to us…»
For an extra $ 15.00, I got a taxi! And will NEVER use Bayporter Express again.

I use Bayporter when I visit in the Bay Area. It’s prompt and reliable, as well as reasonably priced compared to a taxi. The drivers are also much better (safer) drivers than taxi drivers, in my opinion. On my last trip the driver, Norris, was very courteous and helped with my (very heavy) luggage in the rain. He had to take a detour because flooding closed one of the streets he would normally take, and knew the area without having to check. He also had a great play list of 70s R&B.
I’ve never had a bad experience in the last five years of one to three times a year use, so I’ll continue to use them.

Awful. after a 16 hr flight they never showed up at the airport… I had to take a $ 100 cab home.

If I could give zero stars, I would. It was bad enough that after I had called to schedule a 5PM pick up, someone turned up at 5AM the day of travel, banging on my door, ringing my phone, waking my whole family up at a crazy hour the day we’re preparing for a long trans-​continental flight. Much worse in my book was the response I received when calling that day to find out why this happened. The «manager» was unbelievably rude – no apologies but bizarre aggressive accusations, yelling *at me* after his company’s screw up. Just terrible customer service. Next time I’ll pay a little more for taxi or town car. No reason to reward a poorly run business.

ALERT: UNSAFE DRIVER — I took the Bay Porter Express shuttle on October 01, 2014 to get home from SFO, and observed the following unsafe behaviors exhibited by the driver:
1. He did not wear a seatbelt.
2. He did not obey speed limits (drove at 40+ miles per hour in a 25mph zone specifically, University Ave. in Berkeley).
3. Did not yield right of way (to neither pedestrians nor other drivers) at intersections where there are stop signs.
4. Drove fast on a bumpy road, causing a passenger to hit his head on the shuttle’s roof.
5. Did not sufficiently know the areas he serviced, requiring him to ask the passengers for directions to their destinations.
6. Drove the wrong way, and consequently backed out of a supposed freeway entrance.
I rode with four other passengers, and luckily we (or at least four of us — I was the 4^th drop off) made it to our destinations unharmed. I looked for a Customer Service/​Feedback link on Bayporter’s website, but found none.

Scheduling pickup in Berkeley via telephone was easy. Driver was 15 later than my scheduled time but shuttles should have a 5 – 10 minute window for arrival. Ok with me
Driver called 5 minutes before arrival and car was clean.
Would use again.

We’d been using Bay Porter for a long time. This last time, however, was the the last time ! We were going to SFO for an early flight.
#1 Shuttle arrive, and called us. We went out on our front porch– we have a lot of stairs down to the street.
My husband and I looked across the sheet, and there was skinny old, Asian man in the drivers seat. I motioned for him to come up and help us get our luggage down to the van. Did he do anything … No, hr just sat there –eyes straight
ahead– completely ignoring us…
He was a very unpleasant man. and took off ‘like a bat outta hell’…We were in the back seat– and after 10 – 15 minutes on his crazy driving– I told him to pull over, as I was seriously going to throw up !! – .because of all the rattling in the van, and us bouncing up and down…
DOES BAYPORTER EVER REPLACE THEIR SHOCKS ?? I THINK NOT ~!!- IT’S RIDICULOUS !! We felt every minuscule bump in the road.
Sitting up behind the driver the ride was a little better, but not much !!
When we got to SFO, my husband paid him the $ 51.00 but no tip – and as he counted out the money given him– you should have seen the glare of hate he gave us.
Well maybe if you’f gotten off your lazy ass and helped us down with out luggage like other van drivers do– we would have given you a tip !!
NOTE TO BAYPORTER; TAKE CARE OF YOUR VANS, WITH YEARLY SHOCK REPACEMENTS IN YOUR VANS !
We are now just going to ‘drive & fly’ with lots near SFO and use their shuttle.

I’ve used Bayporter for a few years but today’s experience really ruined it for me. I had reserved and paid for my ticket online a week prior, and on the day of my flight, it was delayed until 9:45 pm so I called them to let them know. The guy I spoke with then tells me that the last shuttle leaves at 10:00 pm. I didn’t understand and explained to him again that I had paid and had a reservation and he then started to rudely talk back to me and told me how they’re not going to wait for me regardless!!! I’m NEVER going to use their services again. When you have a customer service representative talk back to you, you know there is something wrong with their company culture.

For some reason, the drivers do not have GPS. How can this be? Despite this, they do manage to get the job done. I paid $ 65 each way from Livermore, CA. The driver on the way home expected a tip, and even told me so after he dropped me off. He said «You forgot to tip.» I gave him $ 5, which apparently wasn’t enough as he went off without saying a word. I figure that since he had to ask me for directions to my home, $ 5 was fair. In fact, I don’t know why I should tip him at all. He just drove, did not help with my bags, etc. Anyhow, I still give 4 stars because the service is a good price and they arrived on time and did not screw it up. So «yay I’m a fan» applies.

My 70-​year-​old mother booked Bayporter from SFO airport to our house in the east bay. The driver DID NOT have a GPS. He had a MAP and a MAGNIFYING GLASS.
My mother is unfamiliar with the area and the driver barely spoke English. It took her over 2 hours to arrive at our house after multiple phone calls to the home office (and to me) to get directions. It was a very stressful and unpleasant experience.
Thank goodness the driver had enough sense to pull over while he looked at the map with his magnifying glass.
How can a shuttle company NOT HAVE GPS??? It’s unbelievable.

Took Bayporter for the first time today, and while it’s a bit more expensive than taking Air Bart/​Bart, it was far more convenient, and they drop you right at your door. The guy was friendly, and reserving was pretty easy. When my wife can’t take me or pick me up from the Airport, Bayporter it is.

I have been taking the shuttle for the past 5 years. Over time, the service started to degrade and the dispatcher, she has huge ego. Bad service, and bad manners. Sure you are a bigger company now, shouldn’t you care for more customer. I guess I just use super shuttle for now.

I needed a shuttle from Emeryville to SFO at the last minute. I called them and arranged for a pick up the next morning at 3:45am and then for a ride from the airport back home a couple days later. The driver was exactly on time and apparently my stop was the last one and they go straight to SFO.
Coming back, I was instructed to call the shuttle service number and allow 30 minutes for them to arrive at the pick-​up location. Again, right on time. The shuttle does not drop off in SF, so Emeryville is always their first stop! The ride costs $ 34 each way, which I thought was such a bargain. I gave the driver a little extra and he told me it’s only $ 34. I was shocked! Anyways, I gladly insisted he take the tip. All in all, I’d definitely use them again.

We made reservations to be picked up in Oakland at 3:15 am in order to get to SFO by four for a six am flight. Our driver pulled up at 3:11 and did not honk the horn (gratefully). As we opened the door to the house, he came up and helped carry and stow our luggage. He was terrific, although a little to ‘free’ with whatever cologne he was wearing.
The van, on the other hand, had been used hard (#268), and it showed its age — both by the condition of the shocks and the squeak of the seats. Nevertheless, our driver knew his way around town (to pick up another fare before crossing the Bay), and avoided the construction zones expertly.
We got to the airport right on time, and were treated with courtesy and respect. I would gladly use this service next time we’re in town.
