Stick with the French onion and a beer. The rest of the food isn’t as good as it used to be.

My company held a promotional event here, and I was impressed by the wings, so i came back with my fiancé and I think we have a new favorite spot. If you’re a bacon lover, The BPM bacon is great! The bleu burger was stuffed with lots of bleu cheese, the asparagus was good, and the creamed spinnach was amazing! The owners and staff are extremely friendly, and the prices are very reasonable. The 5 stars are a no-brainer.

My daughter and I went to the Jon Thomas Inne twice, once in the summer for dinner and once in the fall for lunch. Both experiences were great and the service and food was excellent. So we decided to take my son in law there for dinner yesterday. We didn’t have to wait long for a table, but got our own drinks at the bar. We sat down and looked over the menus and my daughter asked our waitress for a glass of water, and we waited approx 10 minutes or so for her to come back. She took our order and then finally we got the water and bread for our table. We noticed mac and cheese at another parties’ table and my son in law asked our waitress to add mac and cheese to our orders. She said ok and at this point we weren’t served yet. We got our salads and then waited approx another 20 mins for our meals and when we got them my chicken was warm, not hot, my potatoes and veggies were brought out before my chicken and they were only warm as well and my daughters broccoli was cold. my son in laws steak was well done and he asked for it medium rare. He picked at his steak and I picked at my food, and we couldn’t get the attention of our waitress at all. finally we told her all the faults, and I had my dinner wrapped up, she took back my son in laws steak, and my daughter’s broccoli. After all this time, we weren’t even hungry anymore and when we received the food back again, it was steaming, but the steak was not marinated as the other one was, and we then realized the mac and cheese never came. I got the bill and the waitress said, dessert was on them, but it was now 9:30 and we did not want dessert. She said oh you can take it home, and we declined. The bill was $ 83.00 without drinks because we had paid for them at the bar. I asked to see the manager and told him what went on and he took my money and said he would see what he could do. He took off 10% of the bill with was about$ 10.00. That was the price of the broccoli. So we got broccoli for free… I was really very disappointed in the performance of the service and the way it was handled. The waitress came over to the table as I was talking to the manager which I thought was not appropriate. At least 4 other tables had problems as we overheard a drink was comped or a burger was returned because it was not cooked correctly. But none like our table. Each one of us had a problem and the service was not of the quality we were given before when we ate there, as that is why we went back to eat dinner. So between poor service, food«heat» and correctness of cooking, and the manager’s handling of the situation, I have to say I would be very leery about dinner at Jon Thomas Inne.

Nice to be back at the Jon Thomas Inne! It’s a beautiful restoration that improved on the original while keeping the old feeling. This was the burger and beer joint before there was one on every corner. But there is a lot of competition now and to my mind the kitchen could be improved. The onion soup just not as good as I remember — and no plastic scissors… Burgers were okay, but no more than that. Same with the salad — just okay. I did like the steak tid bit sandwich which brought back memories of the old restaurant. Everything we ate was prepared properly and our server did a fine job. Highlight of the meal was the apple-crisp for dessert. A don’t miss combination of seared apples under a nice crumble covered with vanilla ice cream. Call the setting 5 star with 3+ star food. A little improvement in the kitchen could make this a real destination pub.

Always used to come here with family throughout the years and was eager to come back since it re-opened. We ordered our favorite appetizer, fried pickles! Absolutely hated them, for pickles the size of quarters, the size of one individual piece was easily a hockey puck that was coated in ¼ inch of batter on either side. We only ate 2 and the waitress kindly took them back. My mom ordered a burger and I ordered the famous tidbits. Both were cold and my cheese peeled off in one piece which isn’t supposed to happen. Once again, the waitress kindly took both back and apologized. Burger was better but my steak was flavorless and my gravy started congealing while eating plus it didn’t compliment the steak or fries. Service was friendly however we were not impressed at all, acoustics were awful as well. We visited for lunch and could barely hear each-other in the dining room. Extremely disappointed and will not come back after years of being loyal customers. I sincerely hope they get their act together soon.

We went to the newly reopened JTI last night. First impression: nice, light-filled renovation. Pat and Scott are back to keep your glass filled, and that is a very good thing! Second impression: the acoustics are awful. We sat at a table in the bar area and there were so many, «WHAT?» «HUH?» and«I’M SORRYWOULDYOUREPEATTHAT?» even though the waitress was standing right next to me(and I have excellent hearing!) As for food, I had a standard salad. Everything was fresh. The complimentary loaf of sourdough bread should have stayed in the oven a few more minutes as it was warm on the outside but cold(very cold) on the inside. If it had been warmer maybe the rock-hard butter might have melted a tad. My husband enjoyed his burger and steak fries. I could stop here and just say, «Stick with the burger,» but I’m going to tell you what made my meal not so great. I tried the chicken Würzig. Here’s the menu description: «Chicken on the bone, Roasted in Rosemary, Lemon, White Wine, Garlic Sauce.» Yum! What was on my plate was chicken that had been in the oven for way too long. Couldn’t even cut it with a steak knife. There was a taste and feel of garlic powder on the skin, and a sprig of rosemary on the plate, but I don’t think this dish even shared the same kitchen with a lemon or white wine. It was served dry and 100% sauce free, alongside a raw baked potato and a chilled serving of waterlogged veggies. Yum! Yum! Our waitress did her best to talk me into having them re-make the dish, and offered to bring me olive oil to pour over it(um, oily dead chicken? Not so much.) Since my eardrums begged me not to keep them there any longer, I just brought the stuff home and turned it into chicken salad today, but I can’t say that improved things. The menu has some old JTI favorites, and perhaps it would be wiser to stick with those for now until the kitchen staff gets its chops, but it makes me nervous that all of the steaks are either marinated, «coated» or otherwise adorned, since I believe in letting quality beef speak for itself. My advice: stick with bar food.

The new John Thomas inne is very much like the old one, except even better ! The new owners have done a great job revamping the place with more natural lighting, but have still kept that same«feel» the locals love. Food is excellent ! Mussels, fried pickles, wings, potato skins, and the awesome BPM bacon(must try), are all delicious. And thankfully the French onion soup is back, bc it is by far the best I’ve ever had. Last week I had the burger and tonight the skirt steak and both were fantastic. So happy this place is back up and running! Haven’t tried dessert yet, but I will be back! Happy hour from 4 – 7 Mon-Friday and half price apps from 10pm until close… Yes I will be back!

I was so excited when JTI opened back up after their fires. Less so after dinner. We used to come and eat a ton of their muscles. They must have changed the recipe. Now you don’t get nearly as many, and the white wine sauce is totally different.(And way too salty!) Their menu is totally different also. Dinner was good, but it wasn’t anything to write home about. The food used to be amazing. It’s no longer the same old JTI. Bring back the old recipes!

Great burger and friendly service. The sharp cheddar was smoothest I have ever had. Good place to get a bite on way to ferry.

I used to go there regularly Like clockwork on Friday nights After work. One night the younger bartender got drunk And called me out for not leaving a big enough tip In the middle of the bar since then I refuse to go back.(Since i went once a week of course I left more than double the tax) He was just trying to impress his girlfriend who was sitting at the bar. I’ll be the first to admit I miss the food. The burgers were good, the penne alla vodka was one of my favorites. But the service was hit or miss depending on who was your waitress that night. When you go out and you’re regularly there you expect a certain quality of service. This place doesn’t have it, unprofessional staff and to be drunk behind the bar that’s how you lose customers quick and I’m one of them. Those that want respect give respect.

When you first go in, you don’t really assume it’s a restaurant. They have a lot of hilarious sinage around the place. Apparently that includes something near the men’s urinals when you have a bit of time to read… it’s what I heard LOL. It feels very homey and welcoming once you read all the signs. Above the bar it says, «Helping ugly people have sex since 1769». I ordered the blackened burger. It was a bit dry for my taste. They do give you a lot of food for your buck, but that is so American haha. I did love the chipotle mayo that came with the burger though! Delicious. I saw the super burgers that my friends ordered and couldn’t help but to feel a bit nauseous though. People should never have that much food on the plate. EVER. Service, the waitress was really nice to us. felt like she was our mother!

I started frequenting this place about a month ago, since it’s a mere few steps away from my new job. Typical Irish pub atmosphere; dimly lit, outdated décor, but undeniably cozy. The bartenders are spot on, and their French onion soup is among the best I’ve ever had.

I ordered a cordon blue burger and french onion soup. It was good. Lots of cheese on the french onion soup, they actually give u mini scissors to snip the cheese strings. I liked it. The burger tasted good and was cooked perfectly medium the way I ordered, but I think if they brought out trimmings with every burger(lettuce, tomoato, onion) it would up the experience. My burger looked very plain when it came out as did most at my table and would have tasted better with those toppings as well. The décor is way outdated and the lighting is dark. It was really sunny out that day but inside it felt like it was the late afternoon, it was only 1pm. I liked it, but I probably won’t go back. There are better places to get a burger that do it better for the same price with a better atmosphere.

Small menu, disgusting food. I ordered some wings and it came with a gallon of blue cheese that looked liked it was sitting around for a few days. It felt like this place got stuck in 1980. Maybe good for a burger and some drinks, that’s about it. I wouldn’t bring my family here.

Best onion soup ever had.worldwide. Good hamburgers but the rest of the dinners are not too good. The sweet potato fries are heavy with grease… bad stomach problems John Thomas Inn has a new owner. The hamburgers are better than ever and onion soup is still the best. The new owner comes to your table and asked you how everything is. It’s back to how it used to be years ago Yay! Just went to the new Jon Thomas Inn and it’s not the same The onion soup was a watery version of the old recipe that used to be there. Could not taste any marsala wine as the old version had. I had to send back the hamburgers twice as they were burned and overcooked. It seems the hamburger meat is very very dry. Also the coleslaw which used to be my favorite is now just average! Sorry to say we will not be back!
