I have been to Volmmer’s a few times over the past year. He can usually fit you in within an hour or so. Cash only, so come prepared. Fast, professional, and most importantly, your hair will look great when you walk out.

I wanted a place to get my hair trimmed since my birthday was the next day. Instead of working in sections, my hair was divided down the middle, pulled forward and cut. Then when Volmmer decided to cut my side bangs he made them into across the forehead bangs.
After when the ‘cut’ was over I asked if he was going to dry my hair, because I’m not going to walk outside with wet hair. He said it would cost extra. I really didn’t care I just wanted my hair to be dry.
Once that was over I paid him, and ran out and sobbed on my way home. My boyfriend came over and was mortified.

Went here because of the great reviews, but did not notice that all of them were men who saw Volmmer. I don’t know the name of the woman I saw, but she absolutely butchered my hair. She wouldn’t let me see the entire time she cut, she cut too much off, and she made my bangs atrocious and uneven. I have to get this fixed now. My friend who came with me saw Martha (I think that was her name) and she got an okay but not great cut and had to constantly remind the woman that she needed to do layers on both sides and had to get her to finish blow drying her hair because she stopped halfway through for no reason. Absolutely awful, don’t let these other reviews fool you! They’re nice people but they don’t know what they’re doing.

Years ago I would come to Volmer for hair glossing, a shiny Demi style color treatment. Looking back at pictures, I realized how much I loved my hair and came back! Today I am so happy with how it turned out. I came in with overgrown blah ombré and he fixed me in no time! This isn’t the glam «let me get you tea and champagne» salon but it is the place to go to get quality hair styling for great prices. Volmer is down to earth, talented, and so sweet. You’re in great hands ladies! (And gents)

No reason not to give this guy 5 stars. It was my first time there and I walked in. The man still accommodated for me and efficiently cut my hair quickly, neatly, and for the right price. ($ 15 men’s haircut). This will be my new go to and hopefully I will stop bouncing around from place to place.

Volmmer is the man! Great guy with an awesome attitude on life. I called 30 minutes prior to showing up. He took me right away even though he said he wouldn’t be able to take me for another hour when I spoke with him on the phone.
I was impressed with his effortless skill of styling. The haircut was quick and he even gave me a wash to get rid of the loose hair. I not got a shape up but am very happy with the results. I will become a repeat customer for sure. Thank you Volmmer!

I’ve been to volmmer’s a ton of times since moving to the Allston area about a year ago. The service has been consistently prompt (never waited more than ten minutes for a cut). Add to that the fact that the quality of the haircut for the price can’t be beaten, and that an average haircut takes about 10 to 12 minutes, and it’s easy to see why I’ve never gone anywhere else since. No better spot in the area. Highly recommended.

After searching for a good 20 minutes on Unilocal for a decent place to get a hair cut, I settled on Volmer’s because of the positive reviews. I’m pretty skeptical going into any hair salon for the first time since they don’t know you and how you like your hair cut, but as a guy who just needed a basic cut, the owner who cut my hair couldn’t have done a better job in about 10 minutes of my time. He didn’t take too much off, but was more than willing to cut more off when I asked. I even got a shampoo at the end which was a surprise. The best part was that he charged only $ 15 for all of it. I threw in the tip on top of that. Well worth it and my time. Nice guy, too. Recommended.

I just had my first haircut at Volmmer’s and I am very pleased with the result. I walked in without calling and was seen within fifteen minutes. My haircut looks great and it cost $ 5-​$ 8 less than the local competition. Not bad for a place located at the Harvard Ave T stop! Convenient location, reasonable price ($ 15 for a men’s cut, although cash only), and friendly service. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Volmer is a good hairdresser, provides good service, and the price seems average for Boston. I just got a cut and color for $ 80. The color came out really nice but I had to re-​trim my bangs when I got home since they were too long. But its better that he left them too long than too short, since I’ve never had them before. Overall I would recommend him.
