History

Established in 2006.

Jack’s Custard was opened in 2006, and recently relocated from Lee Rd. to Downtown Brighton close to the Imagination Station. Jack’s Custard is a family owned business — all of whom reside in Brighton.

I cannot praise Jack’s enough. For one, it is my son’s favorite place and he asks to go frequently (over any other local ice cream). Custard is fresh made and always delicious. Pricing can be steep but you get what you pay for. I prefer to support local business so I am willing to make that concession. My favorite thing is their custard cakes. I don’t know what type of cake they use but it is phenomenal. Never dry and always flavorful. I have called last minute on too many occasions asking for a specific cake and they have always accommodated me. (I will not be sharing my favorite because I want to make sure the secret doesn’t get out!)
The staff is always pleasant (even when 9⁄10 times we come in right before closing –I know it’s a jerk move but it’s never intentional!). I don’t know why some reviews gave less stars, Jack’s definitely deserves 5+.

Came in here yesterday for some ice cream and it was amazing! I got the cookie monster ice cream which has vanilla, oreo, and cookie dough in it. Some of the most incredible ice cream I’ve ever had. I prefer to support local independent businesses. Will definitely go back!

I stopped by Jack’s Custard Co. for the first time yesterday night for an after dinner dessert and was not disappointed! The shop is small, and it was very busy, so there wasn’t much space, but a crowded shop means they have something great to offer! The menu had several different unique custard flavors, sundaes, and even ice cream treats (such as chipwiches or ice pops). They also have coffee, tea, hot dogs, and cakes for sale. I got a scoop of Cookie Monster, which was vanilla custard dyed blue with Oreo and cookie dough mixed in. It was very good, so creamy and rich! The staff was very friendly and nice, and the order came up pretty quick, even with them being busy. It was also fairly reasonably priced, I paid less than $ 3. I can’t wait to come back and show this place to my friends and family who have a sweet tooth!

The location is a bit difficult but don’t give up. We stopped in today and had wonderful rich ice cream. I want to try a sundae. Very inventive combinations. Staff was really nice and the patio outside is just the thing.

Best custard in town! My friends and I always stop by after sporting events at the high school. My favorite is their raspberry royal avalanche! We always look forward to their dessert especially since it is so convinient by being close to the school. Overall it’s a super cute little family owned spot!

Didn’t realize Brighton had lot of these small family owned, local stores… never been to this side of the town… always driving through I-​94 to get to Howell or E. Lansing… need to spend more time on this side of town… like the view and the walkways they had… and after dinner we stopped by here to get dessert… good soft serve and the smoothie I had wasn’t bad!

This is a small but friendly store. I love custard and there was so many choices! On the day I went I ended up with salted carmel! Yum! It was as good as I could of hoped for. As we sat in the store eating our custards it was neat to see how many people actually come into this store. They were busy! That’s a great sign.

I think their frozen custard is on par with Ritters but you also can choose much more interesting flavors!
We had a peanut butter crunch: peanut butter custard blended with peanut butter captain crunch cereal. They also had a Trix version.
Beyond cakes, they make a trifle bowl for parties that is original and very attractive at the same time. Check it out.

I love frozen custard. Jack’s is really good. It’s not the same exact flavor as Ritter’s, but a good alternative if you’re looking for another custard option it’s finger licking good :)
