Love this place been going here for years, everyone knows my family and is sweet n Respectful. My kids have played alleys through brc for many years. Love it

I’ve been going to the Brighton rec center for 6 months. If you’re looking for a good fitness center in Brighton, this is the best option for the price.
This place offers much better value than the other fitness centers in town. The quarterly pass is reasonably priced and doesn’t require the long-​term commitment that places like Anytime Fitness require.
I primarily use the weight room and and cardio equipment — my pros and cons are listed below.
Pros —
Reasonable Price (compared to other options in Brighton)
Quarterly pass doesn’t require a long-​term commitment
Adequate parking
Locker room allows for personal items to be stored securely
Plenty of cardio equipment
Newer cardio equipment, dumbbells, free weights, medicine balls, weightlifting machines, etc.
Good WiFi connection
Convenient hours, minus Sunday hours
Cons —
Weight room has a tendency to get crowded during peak hours — not enough benches
30 minute time limit on all cardio equipment
The facility doesn’t open until 10 AM on Sundays

I was a member for six years, mostly for my kids and access to the gym during early parenthood.
The rest is the Local’s attempt to make sure Brighton resembles a hybrid of the fictional Hazzard County and the barrios of East LA.
The pool is constantly being maintained due to overuse as a giant toilet, and the life guards essentially pace the deck monitoring bilingual kids who ignore the rules and run amuck. (Patrick Swayze’s character from Roadhouse would fill a need here.)
The basketball gym is used a lot by area school programs, but the rims are under-​maintained. If a person Can dunk, it is highly likely they will, bending them rims so no one else can use them. Signage not-​to-​do-​so ignored. Mostly local bullies who are academically ineligible to compete for real teams.
The people in charge of this center care about one thing: Memberships.
Rampant bullying by kids whose parents are familiar to the management and the childcare center is manned by jaded part timers, usually volunteers.
You get what you pay for.
I haven’t figure out what the managers do when they are not managing this facility, but they make it clear that unless there’s a dead body laying in the lobby, they are not to be disturbed.

Despite the advances in technology, it always seems like the checking-​in system and ID creation system is too complicated for whomever is in charge of it.
Restrooms: average. Some times clean, sometimes not. If there is paper in the automated towel dispenser, count yourself lucky — then add it to the pile. Janitorial staff clearly resentful of their jobs here.
Locker Rooms: conceived and built for the 1980s. Small, cramped, old, and worn. Graffiti marks like tree rings — telling a keen eye when the mark was engraved or inked.
Parking lot is plentiful, and two outside park areas provide additional playground experiences if the weather is cooperating.
This facility is located off 11^th Avenue, conceived in an era when Brighton’s idea of expansion meant adding indoor plumbing to its structures… today this area is considered Unfinanceable.
It only took the city 110 years to shift the power lines from above the ground to below it.
Park & Rec’s Funshine program is awful. Run by burned out staff and high school volunteers. (ABC Learning Center is wonderful.)
Congratulations, Brighton Rec. If your aspirations were to bring the spirit of Echo Park, CA (location setting of the ending of Training Day) to northern Colorado, you’ve succeeded.

The exercise bikes seen in one of these pics were mostly not-​working when I tried to use them, staff apathetic when asked — and it took a while to find someone to ask.

I am surprised that they do not offer a military discount for Active Duty and Guard members with how many live in the area. Other rec centers in the area like Ft Lupton offer that discount.

I am disgusted with the lack of rules, regulations and policies that are not put in place nor followed during the swimming lessons. I took my 2.5 year old daughter there for a swim lesson (the class was to build trust between student and teacher, and not for kids that could swim nor had prior swimming experience). 10 mins into the class the 17 year old teacher decided she should chat with a teacher in the other class and turn her back on the kids. My daughter stepped off of the step in the water and went under. I yelled for them to get her as ran to the pool but the teacher had no clue. The life guard also under 18 ran to where my daughter was and reached his flotation device out to her while he stood on the side of the pool. (She is 2.5 years old and fully under water she had no clue what he was doing). I had to jump into the water and pull my daughter out because the 2 watching the children had no clue nor had no clue how to properly respond. Come to find out the class was over ratio and should have had a second teacher in the water, the kids did not know how to swim and we’re in and portion of the pool the we’re u and be to touch (3 ft deep). This just seems careless and neglegent. I would stay far away from this facility and their services as they are still working out the kinks at the expense of our children. Thank god my child was safe because I knew how to respond.

This place is awesome! Coming from Aurora and paying big money to be part of a gym, this place is a breath of fresh air! I swim 3 times a week with the masters group and I love it. They have great equipment and no the staff is always super helpful!

I love this place. It’s almost as nice as lifestyle fitness without the insane price tag.
You get more bang for your buck .
The two swimming pools are awesome. The young lifeguards are awesome and tend to make the kids that just play in swim lanes to move over for those wanting to use them. They also help when the parents aren’t watching their own children to help keep them in line from bothering others as well.
I understand kids are kids. It’s just annoying when you see a few parents use the pool as a babysitter instead of watching their kids.
If you want to catch some football or other sports games, you can rock out in the treadmill or elliptical a. Tons of gear. Running track. Exercise classes. It’s awesome. So glad it has so many amenities for the residents.
Oh– I have to also so that I am a fan of that bathing suit spinner in the women’s locker room !! Now I don’t have to have soggy wet clothes to drag around! Yessss!

The reason for 4 stars is that I have rarely seen the locker room clean. The locker rooms are nasty!!! It would be nice if they had someone check them during the day. Or deep clean them once a week. The fort lupton rec center locker room is spotless.
Swim lessons are very reasonably priced but you get what you pay for. The teachers are very friendly and nice. The problem is they should have a baby class up to one and another class for the older toddlers. Lesson plans would be a great idea. We have taken classes from Brighton and ft lupton and man there is no comparison. The teachers in ft Luton plan a lesson. Every time they work on something new catering to the children in the class. They just need a little more creativity with the kids.
The rec center staff is wonderful!!! They are very kind and compassionate. One time the spin class was full and the lady actually went to the basement to get me another bike. Wow! Also, the managers of the Rec center are AMazing!
The daycare staff are really good with children. It’s very affordable and easy to use. My son loves it. They come get you if anything happens with your child (diaper change needed or kid is crying a lot)
Overall really happy with the rec center. Great place to go to workout or swim!

It seems as though the rec center has really undergone a lot of changes for the worse. I have caught a severe bacterial skin infection from the hot tub, today whoever was suppose to open forgot and about 30 of us waited until 6am and then went home. Looks like it’s time to clean house on help, from the top down!!!

Today was the first day I had been here in awhile. It has always been in good condition and kept very clean, well maintained and so on. I was pleased to see that’s still the case.
I took my kids swimming with some friends and they all had a blast. It was a bit crowded but everyone was very polite and respectful towards one another.
I was also surprised to see that they had updated the children’s play area with a nice little set up that has water spraying around and two child sized slides. They used to only have one small children’s slide, so that was a pleasant surprise.
There are plenty of lifeguards around and all of the staff, including those at the front desk, are extremely polite and helpful.
Can’t wait to go back!

Great clean, convenient gym if you’re in the neighborhood.
As a fitness professional, experiencing new gyms seems to become a hobby of mine when you are on the road. A good friend of mine lives in Brighton and wanted to go workout one morning before work. I responded that I would go check out the place with her and give her some exercise ideas for the next time she went by herself.
The gym is surprisingly very open and spacious for a community rec center. Upstairs you will find some group exercise rooms, a running/​walking track, some cardio equipment, a stretching/​abs area, and exercise weight machines. On the main floor, you will find additional free weights, a full gym with basketball courts, some raquetball courts, and a full size swimming pool — complete with what appears to be a child’s play area.
The gym seems fairly updated with newer cardio pieces and weight machines upstairs. The free weight section on the main floor seems pretty limited and older, but with a creative mind, you should be able to get in a great workout with the staple exercise pieces offered.
Great gym for the location and for being a community recreation center! Very clean and friendly staff!
