Due Amici

Due Amici is a local Italian restaurant for us and we went there again last week. The food at the restaurant is good but the service is always slow and the restaurant is a bit noisy. It’s a good local restaurant, although a bit pricy, but nothing to go out of your way for.

We go every year for our anniversary and love the food. Wish the prices weren’t so high, but the quality of food has always been consistent so it is worth it. Only thing that you need to be careful of is getting sat next to the piano on a Saturday night. For one of our anniversaries (in which we had a reservation) we were placed in front of the piano at a two top and the piano was so loud we couldn’t really talk. So ask for a seat away from the piano.

Veal parm was really delicious! My husband go the veal chop and wasn’t as impressed, but I really enjoyed mine. Got the hot antipasto appetizer for two and it was huge! Was stuffed when I left which was a good thing!

We eat here several times a month. some nights are super busy so it’s usually best to have a reservation. Especially during the summer months or holidays. We always come back because the service and food are always stellar and consistent. The pricing isn’t horrible for what you get.
I’m not sure where the other person reviewing went, but it’s never smelled of mold, I’ve never experienced an extended wait for food, and the only time we’ve paid $ 150 a couple is when we are doing more drinking than eating.
We were just there again Saturday night and nothing seemed out of sorts to me. And I would recommend to anyone, if you walk in a restaurant and it smells like mold. maybe you shouldn’t eat there in the first place.

We walked in and immediately smelled a strong smell of mold! Had to wait 45 minutes for our table with a reservation at 8:00pm.. It took another hour to get served an appetizer. Growing up in the restaurant business I need to tell you the food was not edible and to top it off the bill was 150 a couple with sending my entrée back that was taken off the bill and before the tip. We walked out of there at 11:45pm. Do not go! The only reason I could even give them one star is the wait staff was very nice and apologetic.

Greeted by smiling Hostess on busy Saturday night, seated us in a timely fashion. All of our food was excellent. The seafood in our meals was fresh and cooked perfect. Service was excellent. Piano player was nice. Nice bar area.

Got there and the reservations were excepted we were seated within 10 minutes the waiter was so busy huffing and puffing we barely had time to tell him what we wanted the food was excellent we enjoyed the dinner but the noise level was impossible the piano guys great but it didn’t help the noise problem it might’ve been the two tables next to us but I left with a headache I’ll think twice before I go back

We’ve dining at Due Amici for at least 10 years and the reason we keep coming back is great food, great service and reasonably priced. I am trying to find a better spot along the Jersey Shore… but we are still looking. Go… have a great meal and listen to the piano man and enjoy!

Food was good. Service was also good but could have been better.
The flounder was a bit dry.
Like the piano music added a good touch.
Company was awesome.
Overall good experience and would return.

Great atmosphere love the pure Italian feel I enjoyed the flounder my spouse had a mushroom shrimp pasta dish that was good but a little bland not bad just not amazing witch is what we have come to expect here we will defiantly be back.

This place makes me sad whenever I go! The food is actually really good BUT Diner Beware — you will most likely leave here feeling ripped off.
The waitstaff is obviously trained to get as many up charges as possible on your bill by offering choices that you assume are included with your meal only to discover they are not. For example, I ordered a veal dish and the waiter asked what kind of pasta I would like on the side and then he charged me $ 4. Likewise, when they recite the salad dressings, if you choose blue cheese crumbles— $ 2 more on the bill. Order an iced tea and it comes in a 6 oz. wine glass full of ice. Then when the waiter asks if you need a refill, it’s another full charge. Who does that???
I don’t mind paying for quality but I don’t like feeling like I was ripped off and every time I leave this place that’s how it is. Why not raise the entrée prices and include a side? Or why not mention that bleu cheese crumbles are available for a minimal charge?
We would go here much more often because as I said, the food is really (REALLY!) good but i need time to forget about their deceptive and just plain sleazy business practices.

I went there last night with my family for my sister/​brothers birthday. Although the food and our waiter were great it was so expensive. First of all, we were CHARGED for PASTA as our side dish, which being a full Italian is UNHEARD OF! A glass of wine with about a quarter of an inch was 12 dollars each which i found alittle pricey for what they gave you. Apps were about 15+. I was highly disappointed to find out my father spent almost 500 on the bill. Judging by the empty tables inside I will NEVER be back. I gave it 2 stars for the good waiter, and ok food.

They start you with warm bread and a dipping dish of oil and chunks of garlic. Delicious!
I had the chicken special which was stuffed with broccoli rabe, fresh motz, peppers, in a very nice sauce. It was very good. My wife had some kind of fish (can’t remember even though we just are there) but loved it. One thing that got me was the additional $ 2 charge for crumbled Blue Cheese on your salad that comes with the meal… come on!
Crowd– mixed bag, more to the older side
Piano guy– very good, not too loud
Service– waiter was attentive and good… not great. Nino (I think that’s his name) at the front was very service oriented.
I drink each, no apps or desert $ 75(without tip) A little pricy but worth it.
I’ll be back.

Joined friends for Labor Day weekend dinner. Highly recommend. Extensive menu of appetizers, entrées, and deserts. All very well done. Superior service from a mature and knowledgeable staff. We will be back.

Don’t waste your time or money. Had a 7:30 res and were seated at 8:15 at a table that was empty when we arrived. Took forever to get a waiter and service went downhill from there. Food was mediocre at best.

Food was delicious but desert was over the top! They have such a selection of sorbets and tartufo! If you want an efficient, friendly, professional waiter that will get your orders exactly right, then ask for Nick! Extensive menu. Cannot go wrong dining here. And the piano man’s volume was perfect. Not like prior complaints.

It started in Starbucks. Where to go for dinner on short notice on a Saturday night? We looked at a couple of places in Red Bank… We looked at a couple of places in Asbury. No luck. Then we thought of Due Amici.
Having lived here for many years we had never gone. Not sure why. Place is a red sauce joint at the shore. What could go wrong? Nothing.
Ahi appetizer cooked perfectly. Hot antipasto for two. Cooked perfectly.
Chicken special with shrimp and asparagus was great. Very rich. Could have probably asked for no mozzarella. It would have been fine w/​o.
Veal pizzaola was great. The reduction was well seasoned. Peppers and mushrooms were not overcooked. Veal was thin and tender.
Piano man was a little loud. Only gripe and not a big one. Would come back.
Larger portions. Lunch for tomorrow now in hand.

solid, nice-​casual Italian restaurant. I really have nothing bad to say.
the veal sorrento was amazing. veal, prosciutto, mozzarella, and fresh eggplant. I think that covers all the basic food groups, and if not, I ordered a small side of angel hair and a salad to be sure. the veal was tender, the eggplant was fresh, the prosciutto and mozzarella were just salty enough, and they meshed together wonderfully.
pumpkin cheesecake was good, and the coffee was alright.
service was excellent. wish I had been able to partake in more drinking, but I had to drive, and it’s bad enough that the route back to the hotel involved the poorly-​lit deer-​infested back roads.

Due Amici was the chosen venue for Kathleen and Jason’s rehearsal dinner. Even though they booked it last minute, we were able to have an entire private area for our sizable group – the bride and groom plus their parents, me and Mike, the best man, the groom’s aunt, and the bride’s childhood neighbors. That space fit our group nicely and gave us privacy for taking some photos, the bride and groom giving out their generous gifts, etc.
We were brought a zesty bruschetta to start in addition to the bread basket. The entrees came with standard green salads which were pretty decent. I ended up ordering an appetizer from the specials menu as my entrée – a risotto topped with grilled scallops. It was the proper portion for me for a light supper. I knew I would be eating quite sumptuously at brunch the next day and didn’t want to go too crazy. I didn’t order dessert but tried a bite of Mike’s pumpkin cheesecake and Kathleen’s tartufo.
Overall, the food was quite good as was the service. This is the kind of place that I imagine locals would make their neighborhood Italian red sauce joint, while not being a destination, per se.

After a few more visits to Due Amici recently and really enjoying both the food and excellent bar service I’m upgrading their rating to (4) stars. Maybe it’s the kinda place that just grows on you or just perhaps I missed the boat in the past but this place is solid.
Extensive menu with huge portions — you will often see dinners sharing a main course. But, the real treat is that they will go out of their way and make you a dish you desire that is not on the menu.
The new owners over the past two years have transformed Due Amici into probably the best Italian dining at the Jersey shore.
