Birds of a Feather Lodge

We were there this weekend for a girls weekend. The floors were dirty, lights didn’t work, the bath could not be used since the stopper didn’t work, dusty, lots of bugs crawling and flying, and most concerning was that there were ticks found in the beds we slept in. It is indeed on a busy street. I would not reccomend it and would advise to avoid renting this property

This house was definitely not on the lake, dirty (my daughter’s feet were black after walking around barefoot), full of beetles (crawling on the ceiling and walls), and most concerning was we found ticks in the bedding they provided. Would not recommend!

My friends and I went in December. The amenities were very helpful: washer/​dryer, dishwasher, and stove. The sheets and blankets seemed clean and there were enough beds for our sleeping arrangement. Even though the jacuzzi was outside and the weather was below 10 degrees F, the jacuzzi kept us warm. It was really nice of the owner to allow us to check out about an hour or so after the time we were scheduled. Overall, we faced no serious problems and were satisfied with our experience at Birds of a Feather Lodge.

I’m not sure what the previous poster’s issue was, but we found this rental exactly as advertised. Coming from California, our family of five was unfamiliar with the area and very careful to ensure this wouldn’t turn out to be a disappointing bait-​and-​switch. The owner forthrightly answered all our questions and we arrived to find the place exactly as depicted. It’s not a five-​star hotel, the towels aren’t plush, the sheets aren’t 1500 thread count and the environment isn’t 100 percent bug free. It’s a beach rental for crying out loud! But a very comfortable one with plenty of space and amenities to satisfy everyone. The photos posted at rental websites are completely accurate. The kitchen is well equipped for basic cooking (including a grill) and the dunes/​lake are right out the back door (albeit a bit of hike through lovely terrain). The house is indeed located on a highway (a fact neither the address nor the owner hits), which isn’t the most esthetically pleasing. But the noise is minimal and we really felt no impact at all. Overall we had a wonderful time — and at a rental rate considerably less than what we would have paid elsewhere in the area.

BUYER BEWARE!!! Absolutely not
what they advertise to be. Such a scam. They say they are like «owning lake front property»…in actuality the lake is over a mile away, and they walk is not an easy one: up and down extremely large dunes. The house is run down and not well kept up; not a «luxury condo» like the website says. Full of bugs and dust and dirt. Not sure what the cleaning fee tacked on to the bill was for. They don’t provide basic necessities either: no toilet paper, no napkins, etc. The house is not secluded at all: it is feet away from the highway, and there are lots of other houses near it. Save your money! Complete rip off!
