Specialties
Autoscout performs general maintenance, troubleshooting and repair on most makes and models of automobiles. Though they are not a certified NJ inspection provider, they provide excellent support to help get your car through NJ State Inspections, especially when your «Check Engine» light is preventing you from passing! They provide Tune-up services, tire sales and service, and can provide assistance with nearly any mechanical problem that you encounter. If you are having a problem finding an «excellent, honest mechanic,» please feel free to stop by the shop and meet Bill and Tyler. They are dedicated to serving the Cumberland County community.
History
Established in 2014.
The business was started in 2014 when Bill Powell decided it was time to follow a dream of managing an auto repair shop. He solicited long time friend and former scout (Eagle) and former shop manager, Tyler Place to help get the shop started. Both appreciate the opportunity to serve those in Cumberland/Salem counties!
Meet the Manager
Bill P.
Manager
Trained in the technical field of electronics, Bill spent 30 years working for just two companies. Starting with the Associated Press, Bill was a field service engineer in Baltimore and Harrisburg and was then promoted to Assistant Chief of Communications in the Philadelphia Bureau. Bill then took a job as a Network Engineer with SunGard Availability Services in Philadelphia with the intent of working himself back to a management position. Over the next 17 years, Bill was promoted to many positions and left the company as a Director of Operations. Bill spent a lifetime working on cars as a hobby and as a service to many church members and friends who could not afford the expense of auto repair. His ambition was to open a shop some day to provide service to members of the community and on November 17, 2014, opened Autoscout. Bill chose the name of the shop because after many years serving as a leader in the Boy Scouts of America, thought the word «scout» would reflect Autoscout’s values.
