Timothy’s Ice Cream

This is among the best vanilla ice cream that I have ever eaten in my entire life. I even had two servings! If you are within 20 miles of this place, and are in the mood for dessert, you have to make it a point to eat here. It’s also priced very reasonably.

Really great ice cream in the Blackrock area of Bridgeport. If you appreciate good ice cream made with real passion, Timothy’s is the place for you. My recommendation is the Blackrock ice cream, named after the area of the city the shop is in.
There’s a huge choice of flavours and types. I enjoy getting a sundae with marshmallows, strawberries, fudge, cream… you name it. The staff are always really friendly here, and the portion sizes are generous. Timothy’s is highly recommended!

Best ice cream I’ve ever had — not just in Fairfield County, but all over (always get ice cream when on vacation). Fresh and really made on premises homemade. The mint chocolate chip isn’t even green. Sundaes only come with freshly whipped whipped cream. Timothys can not be beat.

The young man working there on a sunday night, Tucker i believe, he was a great help and really good with my daughters ice cream selection. She didnt know what she wanted being only 3 and i was about ready to loose my temper. But the young man offered a suggestion and she loved it. Ive been here before and its a classic family place love the hospitality any day of the week great experience as always. (just a little pricy if you ask me but that comes with the package!)

Once you have timothy’s you’ll forget dairy queen exists. It’s so delicious and creamy and amazing… the coffee oreo flavor with added health bar is so money. This is very truly mom/​pop and is a black rock institution. Support local biz, kids

The ice cream may be good (I wouldn’t eat there) but I’m afraid of what would happen if the department of health paid a visit. This place may be going for a ‘vintage vibe’ but missed the mark. It’s time for a can of paint and some soap and water…

They make an excellent vanilla malted. Perfect for a hot day, and they aren’t easy to find in any of the «modern» (i.e. frilly and poorly) ice cream parlours that have sprung up in the area.

Stopped by on our way back from the Maritime Aquarium had gotten some dinner down the road and was trying to kill some time before getting back on 95 since it was around 6 pm. So wife kid and I decided to get some local Desert. The place is small and you do need to find street parking. I don’t know the area there might be a better way for parking. I had to make 2 passes to find a space on the street. Its a small shop but you cant miss it if your looking. Went inside and were the only people there so the two guys behind the counter greeted us and asked what we would like. We said we needed a minute and that wasn’t a problem. The menu wasn’t huge but there were no descriptions of the flavors so you needed to ask what was in it. Not a issue when your the only one there but it the place was packed I could see that as taking extra time. The sizes were good and the prices were fair. They do only take Cash so make sure you have some when your there. The ice cream was good but not amazing hence the 4 stars but I do recomend stopping in it was a nice spot and a local shop is always nice to see.

You just can’t top Tim’s artisan work here, and having supported all three of his ice cream shops over the past thirty years I can say without a doubt it is my favorite. Fond memories of mine are attached to most of the flavors and it doesn’t help my nostalgia when the prices are so low you’d swear it’s 1995 all over again.

Wow, incredible yet inexpensive homemade ice cream. They accept cash or checks, no CC. Neat part of Fairfield Ave. with lots of restaurants and bars around. The smell in here is incredible — reminiscent of an old candy shop. Three kids if Oreo ice cream, waffle cones, and more. Amazing find.

Classic and old school. This family owned business makes the best ice cream around. I highly recommend their ice cream cakes, which you can order by phone to have personalized. The ice cream sandwiches are great too.

Though I wasn’t particularly charmed by the Black Rock neighborhood, this place made up for our detour through Bridgeport. It’s so cheap and the staff so friendly that I left angry that such an establishment isn’t more common. The total was a flabbergastingly low $ 10.15 and after we pulled out the first $ 10, the guy insisted to take just $ 10 (even though we were reaching for the additional funds, he refused to accept). Egg cream, shake, edible sundae (fresh waffle bowl didn’t taste that fresh but that’s alright), and the guy went rogue with it. Charming old equipment near door as you enter/​exit.

Excellent ice cream and awesome employees. Could use a little more variety in flavors and mixins (and by that I mean I could really use peanut butter cups), but it’s small beans compared to how excellent the existing flavors and service is.

I’m no Ayn Rand but I believe that competition encourages businesses to evolve and improve, often for the better. There is no question that Timothy’s is better than the ice cream chains nearby, especially Sunny Daes, but I wish they’d better meet their own potential.
Some aspects approach perfection. The ice creams with the sweet cream base (sweet cream, oreo and occasionally a rotating flavor) are fantastic, rich with full-​fat cream flavor and a perfect melting point. It gives me immense pleasure to watch the staff prepare waffle bowls right in front of me, and the smell of fresh waffle bowl that permeates the store is intoxicating. Even better is when they make the whipped cream fresh for your order. Your heart just sings! I also really appreciate that the ice cream cakes are relatively inexpensive and generously customizable.
But then there are the things that just fail to meet their potential. The old fashioned flavor list changes but still feels pretty static; it begs for more imagination. The bland chocolate-​based ice creams long for the robustness of the sweet creams. The corn syrupy, commercial-​tasting hot fudge is a disservice to the fresh ice cream, waffle bowls and whipped cream it’s paired with.
Timothy’s is coasting. Their old school-​ness is both appropriately aspirational to old fashioned greatness — but it also feels like they’re phoning it in. Timothy’s could be great, but it’s just good.

I just LOVE little ice cream shops like this. The ice cream is homemade, fresh, and creamy (try the caramel crunch). Plus, the whipped cream is homemade, which is my favorite part! On top of that, the ice cream is super affordable: $ 6.50 for two small ice creams with 2 toppings each. Conveniently located on the Fairfield/​Bridgeport line, the employees were all friendly and the owner, Tim, seemed very proud of his product. Please support small, local businesses and keep shops like this open!

This is a small family business that was started in the 60s while the owner was in college tinkering with salt, cream, sugar and a bucket. He has all his original churns and now the daughters are helping run the operation. I’ve, like most people, gotten used to the polished yogurt and gelato operations of today but when you get right down to it and look past the atmosphere here you’re left with pure sweet enjoyment!
Flavors change regularly but all ingredients are fresh and wonderful. Half dozen to dozen options and clearly nothing wrong with any of them. Just be sure to bring cash or a check as that’s the only option for payment.

The sweet cream ice cream alone is reason to go to Timothy’s! Plus the guys who work there are super sweet and always friendly. I have been enjoying Timothy’a Ice Cream for well over 20 years! Now my young daughter loves to go there as well!
