Founded in 2005, our mission is to treat every patient with respect and compassion, and to serve our communities by providing the highest quality medical care.

Joined with American Family Care in 2013, AFC/​Doctors Express is the second largest privately owned urgent care operator in the country and able to extend the broadest range of urgent care and family medical services in the most caring, convenient and affordable way possible.

Dr. Steven Heffer, MD, Emergency Medicine

Dr. Heffer is Medical Director and owner of Doctors Express Bridgeport. Prior to joining Doctors Express, Dr. Heffer was affiliated with Greenwich Hospital in Greenwich, CT. as an Attending Emergency Medicine Physician. Before that, Dr. Heffer served as Attending Physician at Waterbury Hospital, and was a Lifelight Emergency Physician at University Massachusetts. He has been in practice for 20 years.

Dr. Heffer is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine. He is a graduate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine and he completed his residency and internship at Bellevue Hospital and New York University Medical Center.

Dr. Heffer is a Fairfield resident and is a father of 3. He is also proud to announce his appointment as the official General Practitioner for the Bridgeport Bluefish.
