Very good breakfast! Cooked my sandwich exactly how i asked for it to be. We ordered take out and it was ready in 15 minutes! I would return for more meals here!

This place has the best pancakes and home fries. Pancakes are big and fluffy and home fries are well done and crispy. Staff is helpful and friendly. Coffee could use some improvement

I miss working next door to this diner. It turned into one of my favorite places to get an omelette. They had really good home made soup as well. Sucks that they close so early though.

This review is focused entirely on their wonderful and hugely portioned turkey club sandwich platter. Obviously this is a diner so you can get practically anything you want. However, if you choose something other than the aforementioned turkey club sandwich platter you may not be getting the best meal and deal available! Everything I’ve had here is excellent and the staff and service are wonderful.

Stopped in for breakfast this morning. I got the super breakfast, 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, choice of meat and home fries. Coffee was OK., waiter and waitress were quick, friendly and attentive. Pancakes were very good, but the bacon was over cooked. Home fries seemed a bit oily, but maybe it was my hangover. Nothing great and nothing horrible.

The usually-snarky signs out front had me intrigued, though not necessarily in a good way. After a lot of inconsistent bacon, egg, and cheeses from Brick Convenience Store II(sometimes good, but often times too bready or with stringy bacon), and after Mack’s Place closed this fall, I thought I’d give Bennie’s a shot for my Friday morning breakfast treat. Well, it was not a treat at all. I called in my order, and when i got there 15 minutes later it was not yet ready. This was at 7 am, and there were no other customers. I tried to make small talk with the waitress about the weather, but after I remarked that it was warming up outside, she made a remark like«Well I was here at 5 am and it was freezing, guess you slept through that.» The tone and implication was that I was somehow loafing because I was not on my way to work until 7 am; why she would choose to say something like this to a paying customer, I am not sure. Finally the sandwich was ready, she rung me up, and I was aghast when the total was $ 7.50 for 1 egg sandwich! I thought to myself«this better be really good.» And it wasn’t. It was very bready and there was not much bacon on there. $ 7.50 is roughly twice what I would consider«market» rate, but not only was this sandwich not twice as good as, say Brick Convenience Store II, it was probably worse than their worst! High prices, average-at-best food, slow and awkward service(with a touch of insult) = I’m not coming back.

I think this place has gotten a new chef since last summer. Husband & I came here often, both during the summer and off-season(it’s right down the road from our house) but lately the food has been just awful. Blackened potatoes, runny eggs, burned sausages. Husbands pancakes were heavy & bland. Seriously? The cook can’t handle standard breakfast fare? When I sent my plate back(runny eggs I can deal with but burned potatoes & sausage?), it was returned with a new sausage but the same runny eggs & burned potatoes. The waitress informed me, and I quote: «That’s how we’re serving them now, I guess». So, not only does the cook not care, obviously neither does the staff. They may survive the summer but good luck to them in the off-season, if that’s their attitude. Husband & I will take the drive out to Mariner’s Cove in Brielle for breakfast.

Bennie’s is the best, nay, quintessential diner/kitchenette experience for Jersey. Why? 1. Bennie was my grandfather’s name. 2. Since it’s on the way to the beach, I can’t help but feel they’re poking fun of the«Bennies.» 3. Perfectly adheres to my culinary philosophy that the best food is homecooked food with love. Like I said, it’s basic diner food, eggs, pork roll, sandwiches, etc. The difference here vs. the rest of NJ’s many glorious diners, is that it’s not greasy, tastes fresh, and healthy portions.

This is the place where my entire extended NJ family stops on our way back from our yearly shore excursion. Its a small place that most probably wouldn’t notice(it used to be Ronnie’s Diner) but somehow my best friend and his wife found this little gem and we have been coming here ever since. They have the Bennie’s Super Breakfast which is 2 large pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 meats and toast for about $ 9. Cant really beat it at all! The food is fresh and always consistent. We love coming here year after year!
