MINI of Nashville

Once again, I write to say how pleased I am with the attentiveness, courtesy, and service of Mini of Nashville. Service advisor Carlos Tidwell and Manager John Monk made sure that I left 100% satisfied after a leak developed in the sunroof cassette of my 2009 Cooper S. They provided me with a loaner during the time that the replacement part was in transit and being installed, and Carlos stayed in frequent contact during that time to explain every step of the process for my approval before proceeding. To top it off, I was able to use a MON coupon for an oil change and save some bucks.
Life’s too short to take your Mini anywhere else and risk disappointment with ill-​informed, unequipped, and inexperienced mechanics. Even if they THINK they can do the work (and some will try), it’s not worth it. Take your baby to the PROS at Mini of Nashville.

This is the local dealer for BMW​‘s MINI​brand, MINI of Nashville​, operated by Sonic Automotive​. Not sure about the sales experience, and after witnessing all this, I won’t ever know, but Service has been horrible.
Our office’s staff remains in constant frustration every time we have to deal with service with them because it is ALWAYS filled with little dumb things, from their HORRID phone system to their uncoordinated internal communications (different stories from different staffers five minutes apart), evident LACK of enough staff to handle their business, or extremely long waits for various parts/​jobs.
I’ve been vocal about this, because (1) it is NOT ACCEPTABLE for a luxury brand to have such amateur-​hour workings, (2) my boss is my friend and I feel like taking up for him when people are walking all over him, and (3) my COMPANY is a team of people who deserve not to have their time or their company’s money WASTED by a bunch of North Carolina good-​olé-​boys who evidently can’t hack it when attempting to run a company selling cars with otherwise excellent branding.
The brand experience that I have witnessed on the ground in Nashville totally betrays that of Mini as well as BMW, and frankly, they peddle something that’s WAY too expensive to have these kinds of hiccups.
The company car has been in the shop for TWO WEEKS now. For basic things. Not simple things, but textbook things.
TWO WEEKS. That’s two weeks of missed opportunity for the visual impressions we get driving it around. Two weeks of inconvenient delivery for our staff (using a rental right now, since they NEVER have loaners at the ready without a three week wait, it seems). Two weeks of my not being able to employ this car as intended for our marketing presence at events — last Friday I missed an opportunity to have the car INDOORS at an event with 100 captive eyeballs, and it would have been across from a Hyundai. A HYUNDAI got to make it to an event that a MINI could not, because these clowns can’t seem to step up to the plate on running an effective service department.

Their Twitter account blocked me after my complaints, and after inviting me to discuss the issue with them via PM. Well, NEWSFLASH, Tar Heels, I can’t PM you if you block me.
So here I am engaging the power of social media again, in a different medium. What do I want? Well, I would love for them to treat the owner of our company like a valued customer between lease-​signings, since he’s a respected friend and peer of mine, and SHOULD be a respected customer, regardless if he or his people call in for repair.
But that’s not enough. That’s self-​serving. What they SHOULD be doing is fixing this crap for all their customers. They SHOULD not ever want to have to tell people «we’re 15 cars deep and we can’t look at anything till November.» Never. EVER. EVER. Too many people in this economy need work and WAY too much money is paid by BMW/​Mini customers to have those kinds of backups. And if there will be those issues, some restitution needs to be made on leases that go UNENJOYED for two weeks.
At the least, there should be a discount on the repair ticket to offset the uselessness of owning a car that cannot be driven. At the most, Bruton Smith​should pay a visit to the dealer and prove that he’s not just a another southern fat-​cat who doesn’t care what happens at his vast multitudes of subsidiaries as long as he can buy another boat.
I’m glad I have an Acura​, and that it didn’t come from a Sonic Auto dealer. But I do want, desperately, to like the Mini experience as much as the cars. Sadly, these wankers have made sure that’s not the case so far, and that’s just pathetic.

So I am a new Mini owner. I bought a used Mini from another dealer but it was still under warranty. I started having a engine trouble and was really stressed out about it. I called Mini of Nashville and they set up an appointment for me within 2 days. Took my car in and the service staff were very nice and helpful. Turns out I needed 4 spark plugs and ignition coils with all was covered under warranty. I was in and out of there in less than 4hrs. They also put in some new bulbs and checked by brakes. I see where there have been some bad reveiws but not here. My experence was a good one

I must say — this dealership is the best I’ve ever dealt with, and I will gladly tell anyone who will listen… or read :)
I am the happy owner of a Mini Cooper Countryman, and while I’m biased and way too emotionally attached to my car, I truly feel that this dealership is the best in the biz.
My shopping experience in 2012 was fantastic. I was an excited, but nervous buyer, with many obnoxious questions. After several stop-​ins and phone calls, I had finally decided on a model, color, etc. The day I came to pick up my new car, I truly felt like a VIP. Josh, the Sales Manager, had my car set up in the show room and took almost 2 hours out of his evening to show me every button, every feature, and even set up my satellite radio buttons. I wasn’t rushed, and he was just as excited to see me happy with my new car as I was.
My car doesn’t need to go into the service station often, but when he does (yes, it’s a HE), I’m always very impressed at how well I’m treated there. They have wifi so I can work from the lobby of the dealership and wait for my car to be done. Josh, who sold me the car three years ago, always say hi and remembers my name! Carlos, my Service Advisor, is always friendly and communicative about what is being done to my car that day. My car is always finished early, and when I pick it up, it’s been meticulously cleaned inside and out, the seats and floorboards are thoughtfully covered to keep them clean, and it is pulled right up to the door so I can hop right in and be on my way.
I can honestly say that I’ve never had such a great ownership experience with any product as I’ve had with Mini of Nashville. They have truly solidified my loyalty as a customer and other companies would do well to follow suit.
All that to say, even if just owning my fabulous Mini wasn’t enough to keep me a Mini owner for life, doing business at Mini of Nashville sure is!

At 7:45 I called Mini of Nashville parts. I was on hold 13 minutes. I used Skype to call while my cell was on hold. The guy said he’d walk back there to get them to answer my phone call. While my cell phone was still on hold, parts dept answered my Skype call. Now that’s backwards.
Anyway, I gave them the part number and the part is on
has it for $ 8.42. Mini of Nashville quoted it for $ 28.98 & it had to be «special ordered». That’s not even delivered. What a crummy place !! Mini of Nashville, ANSWER your phone & QUIT ripping off your customers. I can get this on the web, all day long for $ 9.95 + $ 4.00 shipping, $ 8.75 for 2 day. Mini of Kennesaw (Atlanta) has it for $ 10.07.
Good-​bye Mini of Nashville. I hope others read this review & shop elsewhere.

John Monk and the rest of the MINI of Nashville service crew are top notch! We had some problems with our MINI outside of warranty and John, Carlos, and the rest of the team were exceptionally courteous and willing to do whatever it took to see that we left satisfied. John made sure that he explored every option to resolve our problem and helped us out unbelievably. They are THE place to take your MINI for service and repair.

The single star rating is for the vehicle, still love it. The car deserves five stars. When I take those five stars and average them with the twenty-​five NEGATIVE stars the dealership deserves, well, one star is generous…
We purchased our Countryman, new, in May of 2011. The purchase was pleasant enough and likely would have earned four stars at the time. No need to get into the details, the salesman who made it such a positive experience no long works there.
What you need to hear about is the service after the sale: Fail after fail. Almost four years of fails at this point in our MINI motoring experience. Two fails in 2015 so far.
From the get-​go in 2011, I was amazed at how rude the service advisors were. Back then MINI shared showroom & service space with BMW of Nashville. In those early days I chalked it up to my perception: here we are, VW owners running with the Beemer crowd… my, they’re different…
By 2013 I was so fed up with bad behavior, rude reception and unmet expectations that I finally called and involved the service manager. At least I’d voiced my frustration, pointless as it was, no improvement whatsoever resulted.
Then, not so long ago, MINI moved out to Cool Springs and into a space of their own. New service advisors! For a brief, shining moment things seemed better!!! This guy was friendly! Polite! Wanna hear how he blew it? Well I’ll tell you…
Me: The new dealership is nice, but your old location was so much more conveniently located. Why the move?
Him: The majority of our customers live out this way so it’s better for them.
WHAT?! Listen up my neighbors in Davidson, Rutherford, Wilson, Sumner & all other mid-​state counties: it’s all about the Williamson $, not yours.
Since that time there’s another round of new service advisors and, though they seem to have better manners, the service experience is no better.
I could go on and on and on, but I’m done. Really done. Stick a fork in me… done.
Last night when we arrived home after another poor service experience we made the decision that we’d fail M.O.N. hard on the next «how was your service» survey. Heck, let’s go one better and write to the general manager! But…
In reality, a culture of «fail» exists at this dealership. Four years of bad experiences don’t lie. I’ll save the paper and ink, the time and the (on-​going) frustration.
You Unilocalers, savvy consumers that you are, need to know this place doesn’t deserve your patronage. Writing that letter to one man or woman won’t make a difference. I, as one man, vocal man, haven’t made a difference.
Enough is enough with MINI of Nashville.

Last night while on the Interstate, my car’s half-​power mode light came on. I carefully got the car to MINI of Nashville and within 30 minutes of my unannounced arrival, the car was diagnosed. They are overnighting a part so I am mobile again tomorrow. Thanks MON, you guys rule!

Don’t EVER buy a used car from this dealership. Let’s start there.
I bought a 2007 Mini Cooper from here about a year ago. It was all well and good until about 4 months after I bought the car when everything started to go downhill. I get into my car one day, and it won’t start. Like, put the key in the ignition and nothing. There was a little red wheel light on the dash which after much research I learned is a steering wheel lock malfunction. Which means the only way to start my car is to reset the system. I call mini, and they tell me they can’t even see my car for a week! So I’m just out of luck without a working vehicle for 7 days. And they tell me they want 100 something dollars JUST TO RUN DIAGNOSTICS!!! Then they tell me I have to replace the entire steering wheel column which is priced at $ 800. They also tell me I need allllll these other things fixed and send me a quote reaching almost $ 2500. So I take it in to my HONEST mechanic and he looks it over and tells me none of these things need fixing or replacing except for the steering wheel column. He also tells me they don’t even really look at your car, they just punch in your cars year and mileage and tell you everything that should be done regardless of whether you need it or not.
Jump forward to 2 months later (6 months after the purchase) and there is now a leak in my engine coolant pipes. I of course don’t take it to mini. I have it fixed elsewhere.
Jump now to 1 year of having the car, and my most recent experience. My clutch is now slipping. 64,000 miles and I need a new clutch. Absurd. My mechanic prices it at $ 1200. I go to mini to try and maybe trade the lemon in, get a new one, and wrap the remaining amount I owe into an all new payment. Long story short, they tell me the clutch replacement would be $ 3500 and the steering wheel column would be $ 700 to replace (which they previously quoted at $ 800 6 months ago). Then they have the gall to tell me I can trade my car in for a value of $ 2000. I owe $ 8,000! What a slap in the face! I mean, it’s pretty much insulting. So I laugh, tell them thanks for nothing, and now I have no car. Thanks mini. You are officially the WORST company I have ever worked with.
Such a shame. I love mini coopers, but because of this I will never purchase one again.
Never come here. Ever. They are smarmy, and will take advantage of you.

This is the second Mini we have purchased from John Monk. He made such an impression as a salesman that we knew we would go out of our way to work with him again. He not only believes in his product, but he trust his most valued possessions with the Mini Cooper product. He is straight forward, friendly, and personable. He takes his time to learn about what is wanted, but also needed. Mini Coopers can be bought in many places, but only one place has John Monk. Thanks again for the service.

Shortly after I bought a used 2010 Mini, I noticed an issue with the clutch. I took it in to Mini of Nashville and they informed me that they would take care of it under warranty. When I went to pick it up the next day, my Service Advisor told me that they also changed the oil and installed new wiper blades. No charge!
Although this is my first experience with Mini of Nashville, I would highly recommend them to anyone considering buying or having service work done on a Mini. My Service Advisor was Corey Wright. Great guy!
This experience made me so much more comfortable with my decision to buy a Mini. The car is a blast to drive and Mini of Nashville certainly stands behind their cars.

I’m going to make this short and sweet. I’ve purchased two MINI’s here and their staff is great (except Gary the SA, but I’m giving them 5 stars and ignoring him). Jomo (John Monk = JoMo) was a fantastic to work with and I highly recommend him to anyone that is planning on buying here.
Hopefully, what will mean even more is that I live in Atlanta, and we have two MINI dealerships down here. I will likely be purchasing my third MINI soon, and will still be purchasing at MINI of Nashville (from Jomo). It will be well worth the 4 hour drive.

I have been looking for a new car since September. I have looked at new cars. I have looked at used cars. I have talked to probably 25 or 30 different people. I have researched online the cost of financing a ton of different cars and even insurance rates on each car. I was starting to get frustrated because I thought I wanted too much out of a new car. I wanted something fun to drive, lots of cool features, a great warranty and a cheap payment.
One morning, while looking around online, I saw a picture of a new vehicle from Mini. It was called the ‘Countryman’. I thought — hey, that looks like it might meet most (if not all) of my needs! So, I swung by Mini of Nashville to take a test drive. Apparently lots of other people had the same idea.
The sales person I spoke with, Kurt, helped me and let me do whatever I wanted. He even let me drive it by my house (because I live up a big hill — I wanted to see how it would handle moving up a big hill with a steep grade like I have). He was more than accommodating and answered every question I have.
After much reflection and looking at my finances — I couldn’t justify a Mini Countryman. However, the Mini was the only car that had really put a smile on my face since I started looking 6 months ago. So, I asked to try one of the regular Mini Coopers instead.
Not only was it more fun to drive — I was able to get a much, much better deal on one of those than I was a Countryman. The decision just became easy. With a great sales person, friendly staff and a fun to drive car and a great car culture that surrounds Mini — I made my choice.
I don’t know what my next car will be after the Mini. It might be another Mini or maybe something else. But I do know if you are looking for something fun to drive, a great warranty and a lot of fun features — the Mini is a great way to go. Drive one — its not as small as you think!
