Mikado Bistro

I don’t really know how to describe this place but the overall ambience is nicely put together. The menus are very overwhelming only because I get so indecisive on what to order.
I do like that there is a wide variety to choose from whether it being Chinese or Japanese food. Regardless, the food is quite delicious.
Also their waiters don’t just help the table (s) they’re serving; it looks like they help everyone in the restaurant. Because one time my mom and I had 4 different different waiters come to our table at different times asking if we needed water when our glasses were clearly full, lol and also circled around the restaurant to ask everybody else.
Overall it’s a cool place. And convenient if you want to walk the food coma off. There’s lots of stores located by it too.

Depending on the time you come will result in how fast you get your food. everything we’ve ever ordered has been great! And the selection is fantastic. We love that you can find Japanese and Chinese at the same place I love the As roll so yummy

I’ve been a customer for years and love to go in and sit at the sushi bar. I’m treated like family by the entire staff! You can’t beat the amazing food and the wonderful atmosphere! I recently moved away; however, every time I’m back in town I always go in for dinner and to visit with everyone there.

Really love the sushi. Some very fun rolls that you don’t find everywhere else! Love the set up of the restaurant, makes it feel bigger than it really is and you don’t feel like other tables can hear your conversations!
Was a little confused about paying the bill? Had to ask for it because we weren’t sure if it was given to us or taken to the front.

Just had delivery from here, most of the items are great… my sashimi in the bento box though was inedible… it was very warm and I could only identify one of the 3 pieces. The chicken in another box didn’t really look like chicken so we put that aside.
Other than that… delivery was very prompt and courteous.

I’m not a huge fan of their Chinese food — I’d rather go to TSJ for that — but they’re my #1 sushi spot these days. Fish is fresh, rolls are good, price is decent. I love the Steve Godzilla roll.

45 minutes late with my delivery. After already giving me an hour delivery time. I called they said the driver left awhile ago; and it should be there soon; it wasn’t. So two hours after I order my food it arrived cold. Egg rolls were soggy even though they looked good they weren’t eatable. Not the drivers fault even though I really wanted to say something to him. Will not be ordering again. That was a ridiculous amount of time to wait for food that wasn’t even warm. Just to top it off I found a black hair stuck in my white rice.

Delivery — Order placed and confirmed at 6:06 and initially said it would take 45 – 60 minutes, I’m OK with that, checked back and it turned into 90 minutes. Food didn’t come until over 2 hours later! Way too long to wait to have food delivered.
Food ordered — Minced beef with egg white soup, Peking style spare ribs, Spicy garlic sauce eggplant, and an order of California rolls.
The soup was bland and had a tinny taste from the canned mushrooms used.
Spicy garlic eggplant was also very bland.
California rolls seemed like it was only half order (first time ordering from here so don’t know if that is their regular portion size) and didn’t taste right.
Peking style spareribs actually tasted good but it seemed like they over fried it and the texture was like jerky.
There were free egg rolls but I threw them out after eating one, didn’t taste good at all.

I mean it’s not the best sushi I’ve had but they’ll have to do if I’m in the mood. I did really like their deep fried cream cheese roll! Delicious! I came with a bunch of my friends the last time I ate there and it was pretty good. I brought in a cake for my friend’s birthday and they put the candles on it and brought it out (which I was not expecting!) I thought that was above and beyond service on their part!

Disappointment after disappointment as of late. If I downloaded my bank statement for the past 8 years it would show we ate at Lucy’s and then Mikado 3−4x a month. The delivery is such a convenience. It seems since the new year every experience we’ve had has sucked. Valentine’s we placed an order for take out and the online system said it would be ready at 6:15. Sent my daughter to go pick it up and at 6:20 I got a call saying the order would be 90 minutes as they were so busy. Why couldn’t they have called at 5 when I placed the order? Cancelled the take out order and about 2.5 hours my favorite delivery guy shows up at my door with the take out order I cancelled. Took it anyway and called to explain the situation and was offered 10% off my next meal by the manager/​owner (though I just paid $ 80 for an order I cancelled). Go to open the bags and 3 of the cartons the food had melted through and collapsed into the bag. Since then this happened 2 more times. Tonight I ordered it took 90 minutes to deliver and no dressing with my chicken salad (the dressing is why I order it) and general chicken is dry and stale. I’m bummed as this has been our go-​to Chinese/​Japanese restaurant but I’m ready to find a new one in the area. :(

We just moved to the area and have not found a good sushi Restaurant until today, the food here is excellent and the customer service is great … The best combination of food, not only do they have sushi they also have Asian food with great taste. This will be the only place we go to for sure, our waiters name was Chase and he was great. We recommend this place, you will not be disappointed.

it’s a Chinese and Japanese resto in one! two different separate menu’s …with limited Asian eatery around the area, I believe it’s good enough, but I am not a fan yet… yet I would probably go back here if ever my family craves chinese/​Japanese and too lazy to drive half an hour away …
For being in Brentwood I give this a 3 star, as a Bay Area Asian food place it would be 2 star and as being one of the more popular Asian places in the area, I do hope they try to make this place taste more authentic and do a better job on food quality
my family’s fav are the CA rolls, Salt and Pepper Spareribs, and mongolian beef!

Fantastic Lunch
I was looking for a different sushi restaurant in the Brentwood/​Antioch area and saw that Mikado had good Unilocal reviews so I gave it a try. I took my friend out to celebrate her birthday and we ordered three sushi rolls and edamame. We had the Big Kahuna Roll, The Golden Phoenix Roll, and the Sparkling Rainbow roll. They were all great with wonderful sauces, but my favorite was the Sparkling Rainbow roll with a little deep fried crunch to the outside and a little heat to it. The décor is a fun Japanese styling and the service was really good. I will definitely return to Mikado soon!

The food is still good however, the customer service was horrible. My family and I went in on Valentines Day and we knew it might be busy. Busy I can understand but the server was rude! They brought out my daughters food about 20 minutes before bringing out the 4 rolls of sushi we ordered for my husband, son and I. From the time we entered the building to the time we left probably took about 2+ hours! We had also ordered fried rice which apparently the cooks forgot about until I mentioned something to the server towards the end of dinner. We tried to order another CA sushi roll and it was already 20 min and still had nothing. I was totally upset with how they managed things. Our waiter also never once asked if we needed more drinks or anything else.

As a frequent Mikado (in restaurant) customer. I can tell you the food is neither terrible, or fantastic. But convenient, and better than most of our (limited) options in Brentwood
So, decided to give Grubhub a go with an order from an average restaurant. But the convenience of it all, made what I thought a great dinner choice.
WRONG… I don’t know for sure what the deal was. But the end result was us finally calling out for pizza.
Order was placed at 6:30p. Got the confirmation noting that delivery would take place between 7:45p — 7:55p. Seemed long… but was OK with it. Busy is busy, and I figured it could only be delivered earlier than estimated. WRONG. I called at 8p asking on the status. And after a long bit of muffled conversation between the person on the phone and someone on staff — of which I did make out the word, ‘GrubHub’ — I got the proverbial response, «The delivery person, just left with your food. It is on its way».
My gut told me… that might be a lie. I had a hunch that they never saw the order come in via grubhub — however that is done. And I believe it was confirmed when I called back 20 minutes later wondering why a delivery from a location that is less than 5 minutes away still had not arrived. I just had to cancel my order. Just on principal alone. Which I believe they were relieved to hear, based on the half-​hearted, insincere apology I received.
So… I realize this is not necessarily a review of the food (and based on past experience, I’d give it 3.5, btw), but of the takeout/​delivery service. And… quiet possibly, a statement on GrubHub. If I was to give Mikado Bistro any out on this; it would be that they probably rarely get any orders via GrubHub — is anyone actually using Grubhub?
That said, I did feel that it resulted in a very unsatisfied way and response from Mikado. I really thought they cared about their customers… They seem to when you are dining there.
Unfortunately, this experience will keep me away for awhile…

Wow! 2 free Sake with a check in. I was so excited to see this offer when I arrived in Brentwood. However we showed our server the deal and were told they don’t have that offer anymore. He still gave us 1 for free! So that was exciting!
The sushi was delicious. Very fresh and a lot of options. We sat at the sushi bar and had Hamachi sushi, Godzilla roll, snow roll, jalapeño jumper and of course our amazing hot sake!

Flavorful food, good portion sizes, reasonable prices, and pleasant décor. Good for day out with family and date night, as well.
I got their bento box, with teriyaki chicken and California roll. My mom got their bento box with beef short ribs and tempura vegetables. The California roll was perfectly shaped and deliciously fresh.
The tempura was a bit bland and the sauce was missing something, maybe sweetness. I appreciated the variety of vegetables. Everything else was good.
Will definitely return to try their more intricate rolls for a special occasion.

I just tried to go to that address and it is not there. Fortunately the phone number is correct and could find someone. It is in Sand Creek Road, next to Dickey’s Barbecue Pit.
However, I got my desired egg rolls and the house fried rice to go.
The place and the people there are very nice. Next time I visit I will make sure I have a fork!
