Loved it… went for the first time this evening — everything was on point! Not sure about some of the others post about friendliness — everything be there was AWESOME! 3 of us went and all loved the food and their banana dessert is epic! ;)

Recently went to eat here and waited 35 minutes for a table. 2 of the servers were annoyed with the owner’s wife as she was dictating the flow of floor traffic. There were 8 tables open and instead of seating your guests, offering them coffee, water, hot chocolate, cinnamon rolls… something they just let people leave out of frustration. They need to get it together, somebody that is a seasoned hostess or server needs to run the front. We wont be going back to Dad’s Café for a very long time(or ever).

I can’t say anything positive actually besides we had a nice waitress. Even the girl who took our money said not one word during the transaction. My husband had the pancakes with bacon, both came out cold and uneatable. I had chicken fried steak which the breading was good on it but defiantly nothing special. My eggs and potatoes where cold. I did read in some other reviews that they had small water cups and the place was dirty… I didn’t experience that at all I can say as we got nice big glasses of water and all booth areas where clean. I would NOT recommend this place and we will not be returning on our ventures through town

Great place for breakfast. The prices are the best in town! Can’t beat 6.99 for a two egg breakfast with meat, hash browns and toast. The eggs Benedict is also good!

This restaurant had a poor atmosphere, and our waitress took awhile to take care of us. The food was average diner at best, nothing to praise really. I had the gravy and biscuits but it tasted like cornbread instead. Way too fluffy and soft to be called biscuits. The gravy was good though, I gotta give them that. But the thing that irritated me the most was… they gave me a small ass cup, the size for kids when I asked for water. At first I was a little bugged but when I saw they had bigger cups I asked for a bigger size. The waitress told me, «Sorry it’s the law, we can’t serve large size cups because of the drought». I had my cup refilled several times, might as well give me the large cup assholes. So…every restaurant around California is breaking the law then. Stupid lying waitress and stupid restaurant. Worst diner experience ever.

Seriously, clean the place! Brought my sister here for breakfast and the first thing she notices is the dust surrounding the booths. I don’t feel comfortable being surrounded by dirt and grease as I eat. And fill my damn coffee cup!

Wasn’t expecting much from the exterior, but wanted a sit down place where I could warm up and work on my computer(yes they have free WiFii). I would call this a basic diner type place, but specials are offered and posted on the chalkboard upon entry. Super friendly greeting, and they let me sit alone in a booth so I could spread out and far enough from occupied tables to make a few calls. Brought me both the breakfast and the lunch menu and there were lots of yummy options to choose from. I tried the roast turkey sandwich and fries, and the $ 1.99 unlimited refill lemonade. The fries were your basic restaurant fries which were just what I needed, and plentiful: I could only eat 1⁄3. The sandwich was also large on a great texture, nice tasting, bread roll — I believe the key to a great sandwich starts with the bread. The turkey was real turkey — not that pressed mush that some place pass off as roast turkey. Tomatoes and lettuce fresh and full of color. Service was prompt and friendly. For $ 13 including tax and tip, it’s a good value. I brought half the sandwich home for dinner. I will for sure return to try some of the other options ie Tuna Melt, Meatloaf, and Waffles. And they also have beer and wine, so late afternoon or early dinner would also be an option. My only complaint would be that the menu could use a wipe down — sticky menus are a bit offensive to most people. 4 stars for service comfort, and doing a great job on simple menu items many establishments take for granted.

Been here twice. Food is meh, mediocre at best. First time had breakfast with corned beef hash and eggs with country potatoes. Hash is home made which is good and my eggs were cooked ok(husband’s over easy eggs were very runny, almost raw). Country potatoes and hash browns were undercooked as well. Went back today and had a chicken club sandwich with french fries which was ok. The chicken breast was burnt and not seasoned so the only flavoring other than the bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayo, was ‘burned chicken’. Don’t think I’ll be going back; I’d rather drive to concord and go to Giant Chef. Gave two stars since service was ok.

What can I say but thank you!!! I have had to go gluten free for health reasons and one of the things I have missed due to my restricted diet is the tuna melt. So today on a whim my husband called and asked if he could bring in special bread so they could make one I could enjoy. Wow!!! First, thank you for being open and accommodating. Second, super yum!!! I have missed this and it is truly amazing. awesome service and food and pretty awesome husband.

I was craving some breakfast for dinner. I wanted some pancakes, eggs and hash browns. It’s a small dimly lit place. We were greeted quickly. Orders taken immediately. The food came in a reasonable amount of time. I had my eggs over easy and they were perfect. Nice and firm white part and a nice runny yolk to mix into my hash browns. The pancakes were perfectly cooked and fluffy. All was good. My only complaint and I could be wrong but I suspect the hash browns may have been frozen.

My favorite breakfast place by far. I’ve tried so much from their menu, and everything was delicious. The staff is awesome! Servers are supper friendly and quick. Never waited too long for my food, even on busy weekends! If you want a yummy meal you should def go to Dad’s Café!

I like this place but today they made a mistake on our seating. They sat 2 families before us and continued to keep seating others. We eventually left because it took too long. Not the best Labor Day experience.

There are two Dad’s café’s in the area one next to the Safeway gas station on Hillcrest and this one which we found by accident while looking for a Percos café which was supposedly in the neighborhood. Anyway we decided what the heck let’s go in here. We weren’t impressed with the other one but this was a remarkable step up. The service was fast efficient and friendly without being annoying and the food was fresh, hot and tasty. They serve the standard faire for a café(think Dennis or Bob’s Big Boy). Its not anything I would go out of my way for but if your nearby and hungry its worth a shot.

Very good food, and surprisingly very nice presentation on the plate for a café. First dine experience I was very pleased. Good service, young servers, but good. The salads are starting to be a favoriye of mine, Buffalo chicken salad. Also like the flexibility of ordering a tuna melt and fried too!

I come here probably 2x a month or so because my work is close and love it. I get the salads almost every time, the taco salad in particular; YUM! I’m super picky & they’re great with my order. Food comes out quickly and is so delicious! Prices are reasonable. Employees are great! Super personable :)

Usually really love it here. They have great food but the service is terrible. They take forever to seat people, it seems like they skip people who have been waiting and seat whoever came in more recently. An elderly woman that came in before me was seated after me and after a party of 7 that came in 15minutes after I did. It took about 15 minutes to even be asked what we would like to drink. I had to ask for silverware for the table. We received our drinks and there was no sugar on the table so I asked for it. The server walked by twice and didn’t have it. I got up to ask for the holder to be filled because my coffee was already cold from waiting. A man behind the bar asked what I needed and I told him sugar. He took the holder and the waitress said she got it. He then threw the holder down on the counter and rolled his eyes. How rude, I felt so disrespected. The whole situation could’ve been handled way better, I’ve been here on super busy days before and was always treated with respect and had wonderful service.
